25.01.2022 Something for the Scouts!

25.01.2022 Good Morning KBSS families! Scouts NSW has given the go ahead to resumes face to face scouting! We will be starting with outdoor meetings and activities to start off with. We are adhering to the current restrictions so, be on the look out for communication from your section Leaders. NOTE: **Meetings and activities will be restricted to 10 including leaders. **Members who are in vulnerable category should not attend i.e. infants, or people with compromised immune systems due t...o illness or medical treatment (source: NSW Health). **Members advised to not attend if they have even mild symptoms i.e. fever, dry cough, tiredness (refer to NSW Health for more detailed and up to date information) **Parents and carers to remain inside their cars during drop-off and pick-up, or wait outside the gate whilst practising physical distancing There are a raft of precautions that your leaders will be taking to ensure that things are as safe as possible and can be found here: https://www.nsw.scouts.com.au//scouting-guide-to-coronavi/ Please give us a shout if you have any questions. 24.01.2022 Once a year all sections and their families gather at the hall for an evening of celebration where we toast the previous years achievements over a BBQ and bonfire, known as the Annual Report Presentation (ARP). Our ARP was locked and loaded for the end of term one before a global pandemic rudely interrupted proceedings. Fearing the 2019 story would not be told, Treasurer Lou suggested a PowerPoint ARP. So after much collaboration we present to you the Kincumber Bensville Sea Scouts e-ARP. Commemorating 2019. We hope you enjoy it.

19.01.2022 Scouts NSW are taking COVID-19 seriously, as we all should be and while the government has eased some restrictions, Scouts NSW have taken the decision to delay reintroducing face to face meetings for the time being.

19.01.2022 Calling all Scouts! It's on! Talk to Shada or Rama about Region Rally. It's a great event and KBSS have done very well in past years https://scoutreach.org.au/resour/coming-events/regionrally/

19.01.2022 Get out and about on this gorgeous day!

18.01.2022 A big shout out to Emma Gilbert who has stepped up to take on the role of Group Secretary! Thanks for taking this on. As Group Leader I really appreciate it as do Darren and Louise. You'll be great.

18.01.2022 Our venturers have just finished two trips to the Snowy Mountains during which they learned the basics of cross country skiing, developed their skills, and then completed an overnight ski tour in the backcountry - carrying all their gear and camping in the snow. They experienced a wide range of weather conditions, challenged themselves, and had a fantastic time.

17.01.2022 Dear KBSS families, 2020 has meant changes in everyone's lives and Scouts has been no different. We saw bush fires in January and COVID-19 hot on their heels from February on. Our sections have seen changes in leadership too and I'd like to let you know how things are sitting now. I'll start with the Joey section. Laura Tobin (Carter and Lawson's mum) has stepped up and become a Joey Leader in training. Next up is Cubs with Christie Chen (Mikey's Mum) taking the challenge of ...becoming a Cub Leader in training. Scouts as seen a big change in leadership with Franca Tripolone (Shada) completing her training and becoming Scout Leader with Tim Lea (Kite) staying on as Assistant Scout Leader. Sue Morello (Rama) is in the process of becoming a Scout Leader. Sadly Kent Broadhead (Rikki) has moved on from KBSS and is now a leader in the Scout Unit at 1st Avoca Beach. Thank you Rikki for your dedication and guidance over the past three years. With the exciting start up of our Venturer Unit we needed leaders and Adrian (Turtle) stepped into the breach and is mentoring Martin Weir, Deb Shearman and John Runcie as they complete their training. Thank you to all our leaders, new and existing, for working to make KBSS the success that it is. You are all doing a great job. Finally, after lot of soul searching, it's time for Kookaburra to hand over the reins. My time at KBSS over the past three and a bit years has been amazing and together we've achieved great things; a boat and a new Venturer Unit, we've achieved our Grow the Group target for three years and we are known as a H&C Region flagship group. Now it's time for the next leg of my scouting journey. Never fear though! Our amazing Akela has stepped up and will become your new Group Leader this year and I'm not disappearing straight away, I'll be here to mentor Gavin while he does his training and transitions into the role. I know you'll support him and all of our leaders, new and the old timers, as they adjust to the changes just like you and our young people. Thank you everyone, Leaders, Support Committee and parents alike for your support, it truly has made my time with KBSS wonderful. I'm happy to talk to you if you have any concerns or just want a chat. Just send me a message and we'll pick a time. Yours in Scouting, Kookaburra See more

17.01.2022 Hi KBSS families, As you're aware we need a new Group Support Committee. We have the lovely Emma Gilbert taking on the role of Secretary and Darren and Louise need to hand over their roles. We have until June 30 to fill these positions and start that handover. Here's the kicker. Without a Group Support Committee consisting of a Chair, Treasurer and Secretary, the group will have to go into recess until those roles are filled. If you're willing to give the role of Chair or Treasurer a go please give a call on 0401442300 or drop me a line at [email protected] Yours in Scouting, Kookaburra

14.01.2022 Check out our awesome Joeys! Making fairy bread ( National fairy bread day 24/11/2020) and hitting the slip and slide! What else would you do on a stinking hot day but have fun! The Joey way!

12.01.2022 Hello KBSS families! With June 30th arriving tomorrow, we are still looking for a Treasurer and Chair person to complete our Group Support Committee. No Scout Group can function without a committee so it's crunch time, if we don't get any volunteers, the group will go into recess and no sections will be meeting until the positions are filled. I encourage everyone to have a think about these roles. The roles of Treasurer and Chair can both have assistants. I've included link...s to the Chair and Treasurer support guides for review https://soz-central.s3.amazonaws.com//Supporting_the_Group https://soz-central.s3.amazonaws.com//Supporting_the_Group

12.01.2022 KBSS is going green! Thanks to the wonderful assistance from #scoutsnsw Grants Administrator Cassandra A, KBSS was successful in securing a grant for installati...on of a 6.615kw Solar system with batteries for our hall. It's our way of reducing our carbon footprint and doing our bit for this planet we call home. KBSS will have the greenest hall in the district. Thank you Cassie, we sincerely appreciate your time and effort. See more

12.01.2022 At KBSS us Cubs love to build stuff. Thanks to Akela, Grey Brother and Bob for giving us the skills!

12.01.2022 Tonight our Joeys made Nutella Scarf Pastries ( having learnt how to roll and secure the real ones last week for World Scout Day) and learnt how to tie a reef knot!

09.01.2022 Hi Parents and Carers, I hope you are all well and dealing with this unique and uneasy time. I trust your kids are probably going stir crazy like mine. Shuffling kids at home with cabin fever, schooling, work and isolation is proving quite a challenge. For the first time in recorded history my son has said he wants to go back to school. Things must be tough! My intention in reaching out to you Kincumber/Bensville parents is to ask for the next generation of Group Support Comm...Continue reading

05.01.2022 Sorry everyone, Megan from Lucy Wicks just called. Lucy has had to cancel this arvo until 9/9 at the same time. She apologises for the inconvenience.

03.01.2022 Hi everyone! As you know KBSS has been awarded an $11k grant to go solar. Lucy Wicks is doing the official thing tomorrow at 5.30pm at the hall. Short notice I know but if we could get a few youth members and Leaders there in uniform that would be fantastic. No pressure Kookaburra
