25.01.2022 READING FOOD LABELS The World Health Organisation recommends that adults consume less than 10g of sugar per day. When you read a food label, look for foods with less than 10g per 100g of food product. Sticky, sweet or chewy foods are particularly bad culprits for having high sugar levels which increase the risk of tooth decay and other health issues such as Type 2 Diabetes. https://soundcloud.com/user-888488/how-to-read-a-food-label

25.01.2022 This week is Dental Assistant Appreciation Week. Thank you to our amazing team. You have all of the attributes below.

25.01.2022 Sugar feeds the bacteria in your mouth, producing acid and causes tooth decay. A balanced and healthy diet low in sugar, drinking water and having regular preventative dental checks minimises tooth decay which can cause pain. Prevention is better than cure. Give us a call at Kingston Beach Dental on 6229 6775 if it is time you got your oral health on track with a check up and clean.

23.01.2022 HOW DO I READ A FOOD LABEL? The nutrition information panel on a food label shows the amount of sugar in that food. Choosing low-foods reduces the risk of tooth decay and other health benefits. The main points are: -WHO recommend that we limit sugar consumption to 6 teaspoons per day (24 grams).... -Divide by 4 to calculate the number of teaspoons of sugar! https://soundcloud.com/user-888488/how-to-read-a-food-label

23.01.2022 NATURAL VS ADDED SUGAR. What is the difference between natural sugar and added sugar? Why does it matter? There are many terms used to describes the types of sugars in foods and drinks. 16.01.2022 Sugar can be called over 50 different names which can make it hard to detect on food and drink labels. Sugar isn't just the white granules that people think of when they spoon it into their tea or coffee. Here are some common ways that sugar is disguised in our foods and drinks. Read the nutritional information panels to see which foods and drinks can contain a lot of sugar, even though they say they have no added or refined sugars. The closer the ingredient is to the top of the ingredient list, the more of it is present in the food or drink. https://soundcloud.com/user-888488672/sugar-substitutes

16.01.2022 One of our fantastic Oral Health Therapists is heading to her home base of Adelaide. She will be so missed... but there is an opportunity for a great Oral Health Therapist to join us and improve the health of the community. https://www.seek.com.au/job/52058390

15.01.2022 Saturday 20th of March is World Oral Health Day. This year we encourage you to look after your oral health in order to improve your overall health. The mouth is the gateway to the body, and there is a large body of research showing the links between a diet high in sugar, poor oral hygiene and diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, Alzheimer's, respiratory diseases including pneumonia and even Covid-19. Good oral health can help you live a longer, happier and healthier life.

15.01.2022 There are many sugars hidden in the foods you might purchase from the supermarket. Food labels that say "no added sugar" can be deceptive. Foods high in sugar often include breakfast cereals; salad dressings; pre-made sauces and marinades and packet mix foods. Fresh foods are much better and we encourage you to learn to read food labels to minimise the amount of hidden sugar that you consume.

05.01.2022 I haven’t posted on our business page for a little while. There’s been a lot happening and to be honest there’s a bit of fatigue setting in. We’ve been a little preoccupied with our strategic planning; staffing; training; babies that are due; dental emergencies; keeping our team Covid-safe; getting through until Christmas; looking forward to our team Christmas celebrations and a list that seems to keep growing! This time of year gets busier for everybody. Let’s all be... kind and focus on some positivity because the year has presented unprecedented challenges to everyone. Take a moment to cherish someone special ; do something kind for someone ; look someone in the eye and ask them how they really are; focus on the things that have been ok rather than the hiccups. And one last thing.... when our front of house team ask you our Covid screening questions on the phone and on arrival.... be honest, be patient and be helpful because we all need to do our best to keep Tasmania Covid-free. Thanks for your support. Felicity Sweet Business Manager #kingstonbeachdental #covidsafe #2020vision #bekind
