25.01.2022 Getting my glam on! Love this bandanna from @josieandme1 Three more days of 10km of run/walk. 70km down 30km to go. Yesterday I ran 8km non stop, then a 2km walk afterwards with my littlest one. Today I ran 5km, walked 5km. Just realised the last day of this challenge is Tuesday, which is chemo day. 10km after chemo and almost 30hrs of fasting will be interesting....might be some walks. Whats everyone else up to today? Loved my early morning meditation with @zkuhne followed by my run/walk with @run_for_sanjiwani

25.01.2022 Thank you Glenhuntly Athletics Club for the wonderful box of delicious fruit! Such a lovely surprise yesterday. Love my Hunters and miss competing, but these days I miss the afternoon teas and catch ups even more than racing!!! Coming into Sept wed be gearing up for the Burnley Half Marathon at the moment, hopefully next season we are back to normal. Ive been running with the Hunters for 17 years now and have met some of my best friends through the club. So many talented athletes, dedicated coaches and tireless volunteers keep this club (and all clubs) going. Hopefully we get some sort of track season this year and I can come down and support my team mates. Miss you all and keep running, jumping, throwing!!!

25.01.2022 That’s right folks eyebrows and hair. Ooooh the small things. I had to shave it a few weeks ago as the silver fox, combover, mullet was not my best look! Sooooo folks. I’m hoping to start back at work asap. It will depend on my radiation schedule and Pete’s appointments (he can’t drive). I’ll contact PTs individually to organise times, but my groups may not start back properly until the new year. In the meantime try and get down to some classes at @fitlife9. They are back u...p and running as close to normal as possible. Bookings are essential and you will need to check out the website or contact Tommy to secure your spot. There are women’s only classes as well as mixed classes. I’d love to hear that some of you go down there, the classes are AWESOME! I’ll be back up and running to full capacity at some stage, but it probably won’t be until the new year. Sorry about the inconvenience! Stooopid 2020! See more

24.01.2022 Thank you to my amazing Fitlife Family for this beautiful surprise when I got home from chemo number 11!! So many beautiful goodies. Miss my crew.....cant wait to hug you all again when things get back to normal. Running into Bo Kong-Gardner at Ringwood Private was another wonderful Fitlife surprise. It was so hard not to hug her. Emotional day today, for no other reason than being tired! lol. I just felt teary and tired all day, so this hamper and voucher certainly chee...red me up. Another beautiful moment was a walk with a dear friend from back home,Kylie, who I went to high school with and grew up with. I had about 1.5hrs between treatments, so she met me and we went for 7km walk around the lake near the hospital. So emotional to see her and not throw myself into her arms. God I miss hugs!!! Did I mention Im a hugger.....CoVid sucks!!!! Overall, the day was good. A long day with oncologist at 9:30, chemo at Maroondah 10:30-12:30 and chemo at Ringwood 2-4pm. Good to be home and lying in bed. Thank you for all the love and supportive I was trying to tag everyone but it kept stuffing up on me!! @fitlife9 @becs_fitlife @metafrench_ferntree_gully Kylie Atkins See more

23.01.2022 No offence Ringwood Private but I hope to never see you again! I enjoyed my visits.....but that part of my life is done! My last big day of three treatments today. Taxol chemo, herceptin and perjeta targeted therapies. Three treatments at two hospitals. Downhill run home now with only 2 more chemos to go. Mastectomy or lumpectomy booked for end of October. Almost there!!!!! Its been a long 5 months with lockdown, homeschooling and all the treatments, but Im almost t...here. An MRI in three weeks will let me know how things have really gone, lets hope the bloody thing has gone! There is no way I could have done this without my tribe of people around me. Ive always said I was The Luckiest Kid In The World, this is even more true now with all the support Ive had. Thank you to everyone!!!! #her2positivebreastcancer #breastcancer #cancersucks #embracethejourney #chemoandexercise #cancerandexercise #running #strongwomen #staystrong #cancerandcoronavirus See more

23.01.2022 Its Monday HIITers!!! While I may not be running sessions yet, doesnt mean you cant have a crack and get your Monday Burn on!!!! So follow Pooh and Piglet and get ready to get your BURN on! Warm Up well - you all know how, and let me know how you go! Xxx

22.01.2022 6km run with this superstar! Been running together since 2003. Oh the problems we have solved in 17 years @murielcummins Also had 4km walk at the start. Did my 10km @becs_fitlife. Only 90km to go. #runningmumsaustralia #brightrunningfestival #chemoandexercise #cancerandexercise #staystrong #breastcancerthriver #her2positivebreastcancer #breastcancer #embracethejourney #kellieup #plantbased #cancerfight #strongwomen

22.01.2022 Sneaking in a weight session after chemo. Im not sure if I can run directly from the hospital as Im out of my 5km radius, so I drove to just inside and met a friend, we did 30min walk and then I got home to a nice little workout. 15x Deadlifts 15x Reverse Fly 10ea xSingle arm row Core... 15 x Front squat 15 x Chest Press 15 x Shoulder Press Core X 3 I would normally split this program, but I lowered the weights and did an all over body workout. Hoping to run today. #exerciseandchemo #exerciseandcancer #running #staystrong #strengthtraining #runningandcancer #cancersucks #embracethejourney #her2positivebreastcancer #runningmumsaustralia #strongmums #fightingcancer

20.01.2022 Absolute clown! Love this kid! 10km run yesterday on hills 61min. That is 80km down with 20km to go. I wasnt sure Id be able to do 10 days in a row of 10km, but with only 2 days left I reckon I can do it. Love having a little challenge like this to keep me motivated. With the announcements of further lockdowns and a few more weeks of homeschooling, my motivation is waning! This actually really sux! Im so disappointed the grade 6ers dont get to go back straight away. This ...was their year to shine, to be leaders, to take on responsibility, instead they are stuck in their bedrooms for 4-5 hours a day on their own. I keep reminding myself that there are people a lot worse off than us, but I just feel so disappointed for the kids. Bring on the next few weeks and hope summer is better! #her2positivebreastcancer #cancersucks #plantbased #chemotherapy #exerciseandchemo #exerciseandcancer #running #brightrunningfestival #staystrong #embracethejourney #breastcancerthriver #breastcancer See more

19.01.2022 15 years of wedded bliss on the 18th Feb. Away for a weekend in the city. The last 12mths have been the toughest, but we made it. We’re an awesome team!!

19.01.2022 Back in the glory days! Lol. Trying to chase down one of my besties. The bell lap was always game on sistas, then hugs and kisses at the finish line. Running has introduced me to so many amazing people, it has taught me to push my body to the limits, it has shown me that pain and discomfort are okay and it has taught me about discipline and goal setting. All of these things have helped me during this crazy year of cancer treatment. I’ve raced high intensity track races where if you aren’t dry heaving with 50m to go, you haven’t gone hard enough! Lol. I’ve raced 100km events struggling through diarrhoea and vomiting, but pushing on. All this helped me through some of my toughest treatments, and it all paid off.....did I mention complete response to chemo?

16.01.2022 Wow! Flashback Sunday. I dont know whether to smile or cry when I look at this. I absolutely love this photo, that smile is a carefree, happy smile. It was taken at a time when life didnt revolve around cancer, chemos and coronavirus! Taken at the junior football club on a Friday night. No special occasion, just footy training, a bbq and a glass of wine with mates....what we would give to be able to do that again. Little did I know cancer was festering below the surface and... life would take a dramatic turn in 12mths. I will get back to that happy smile, life will never be as carefree as before due to the constant fear of cancer, but I will smile again, I will laugh again, I will be happy and healthy again, I will have hair again, I will have eyebrows and eyelashes again, I may not have both boobs in the future, but I will be at the footy club, watching the boys train, surrounded by friends and enjoying a quiet drink (albeit kombucha)! Thank you @morris.genevieve for the gorgeous photo. I absolutely love it!!!!!! See more

16.01.2022 Living the dream!! Love these muppets! Sunny days are the best.

15.01.2022 I did it! 10km without stopping AND on hills. My slowest ever 10km, but I did it. I ran the whole way. Heart rate was good, I took it easy and I made it. Thank you Lynelle Marke and @rowanmiller for the words of encouragement as I burst into tears on you when I finished. My body will be mine again, cancer sucks but it wont win this battle. Thank you for the motivation @becs_fitlife Im 40km down, 60km to go. #brightrunningfestival #her2positivebreastcancer #breastcancerthriver #breastcancer #staystrong #running #runningmumsaustralia #embracethejourney #plantbased #exerciseandcancer #exerciseandchemo #chemotherapy #trailrunning

15.01.2022 Metapwr and boxing HIIT session with the awesome Jen @metafrench_ferntree_gully had me crawling out. So much fun. 15.01.2022 Fighting cancer with health and fitness. Today was my three weekly Herceptin shot. It’s an intramuscular injection into my quad. Some weeks I pull up really, really sore from it and tend to be hobbling for a day or two. Other times I barely notice it. Other side effects include runny nose, flu like symptoms and sometimes a temp......sound familiar the world over! I snuck in a 9km run before the needle and will do a workout now. Keep moving and eating well folks, it’s the bes...t medicine! Not only for cancer but so many other diseases and chronic illnesses. #vegan #wfpb #exerciseandcancer #runningandcancer #herceptin #breastcancer #her2positivebreastcancer #hormonenegativebreastcancer See more

13.01.2022 Today I give a HUGE thanks for living in Australia! I am so grateful for all the life saving medical treatment I am receiving which is costing me pretty much nothing! We have an amazing health system and I have never been more grateful of this fact. People across the world are missing out on life saving treatments due to costs involved, that would NEVER happen here. Ive had to pay for one targeted therapy, as its not yet on the public health system as yet (will be soon), but all my chemos, scans, blood tests, oncologist apts, surgeon apts and eventually surgery is all part of our public health. Amazing! I will happily pay taxes forever if it enables people to receive care. What are you grateful for today?

12.01.2022 Happy Fathers Day to my amazing dad and Pete. The boys and I are so fortunate to have such amazing, strong role models in our lives. We love you both. Thank you for everything you have done for us over the years, and especially the past 4 months.

09.01.2022 Chemo #10. (Long post!) Today was a great day. I had an off day yesterday after an apt with plastics to talk reconstruction. I faced the reality of a mastectomy and reconstruction at the end of all this and for some reason the thought of my boob being cut off really got to me, dont know why as its never really bothered me before now. Ill gladly take both boobs and arms if it meant living!! But yesterday I just didnt like looking at the scars, hearing about the complic...ations etc...I just wanted my old life back! I was also concerned with some extra lumps and bumps that I could feel in my breast. I feared it was spreading, so that messed with me. Luckily my usual surgeon could sneak me in today to have a check up. We spoke about having the mastectomy first, then doing radiation, then reconstruction later down the path. Due to my tumour being so large, he wanted to make sure all cancer was detected before radiation in case we needed different treatment. When I took my shirt off for him to examine he almost fell over. Hes words were Sit up! Youre boob isnt not swollen any more! I use to be able to see it from here! Then he examined me and he said Oh my gosh, this has responded so well. The tumour seems to be almost gone, scar tissue left and your lymph nodes are gone. Unbelievable! Best reaction from him EVER! I burst into tears of course. Then he said that if this continues I may just need a lumpectomy rather than a mastectomy. If it has a complete pathological result to chemo, there is less chance of it coming back! I know there is still a chance it can spread, but for today Im celebrating this win! The chemo, the targeted therapies, the fasting, my diet, the exercise, the meditation, the naturopathic supplements......its all working! Today I will celebrate! I even managed a 5km run around the hospital straight after, its out of my 5km radius but is part of my treatment. Happy cancer patient here today! #breastcancer #her2positivebreastcancer #running #runningandcancer #runningandchemo #exerciseandchemo #staystrong #plantbased #cancersucks #embracethejourney #strongmums #runningmumsaustralia See more

08.01.2022 Poor vegan me!! Not! Mexican black beans with corn, fresh guacamole, tomato and capsicum salsa, lemon broccoli, cumin spiced pumpkin and spinach! All washed down with a big glass of coconut water to rehydrate from my run. Delicious. 15min to prep and the kids eat it! Winning. Something about lime and coriander just makes food seem even more fresh and delicious. Mmmmmm!

08.01.2022 Made it to the end of term! Time for some relaxation and family time. I didnt realise how anxious I was around homeschooling until we finished today, felt like a weight had been lifted. So nice to get out and enjoy the afternoon. Great to get the boys together @micha61626 and so nice to see Will laughing and smiling. Still cant believe the kids went swimming Its soooo hot! Ummmm 17C!

06.01.2022 Two, two, two! Two days in a row of over 10km. Over 6km run followed by 4km walk, some of it has to be on treadmill to keep within my hour, but awesome to be out there. Great to catch up with the wonderful Jen @metafrench_ferntree_gully for a walk in the sunshine. Love you mate! Ive committed to run/walking 100km as part of the Virtual Bright Running Festival with @becs_fitlife We can do 10km per day for 10 days, but it may take me 13 or 14 days instead.... chemo may get in... the way! Doh! Not too late to sign up, join us if you can. 05.01.2022 Chemo Round Nine! Officially past the half way mark in chemo, 9 down 7 to go! Last week was a bit rough for a few days with an upset stomach, but if thats the worse thing thats happened to me that week....then its a great week. Each week I fast 15-19 hours before chemo, run/walk/bike ride straight from the hospital, continue fasting until I hit the 24hr mark....then smash as much food as possible! Lol! Still exercising every day in some capacity run, walk, ride, weight tra...in or yoga. Im still eating completely plant based, sugar free, only a small amount of processed carbs, no alcohol, intermittent fasting during the week, daily supplements from my naturopath and weekly meditation. Kicking cancers butt baby! The BEST thing this week is the amount of people who contacted me and said they have been for a mammogram or have booked in!! This is AWESOME! Early direction is the key. Thank you for all the support over the past few months, it has been so heartwarming. #breastcancer #running #strongwomen #cancersucks #embracethejourney #exerciseandchemo #exerciseandcancer #her2positivebreastcancer #plantbased #runningmumsaustralia #runningandcancer #eatingtolive #fitmums #remotelearning See more

05.01.2022 Well I did it 100km in 10 days! I honestly didnt think I could do 10 days in a row of 10km with two chemo sessions in there, but I did it! Probably ran about 80km of that and walked about 20km. Chemo 13 today, three to go before mri and surgery. Managed a 10km run straight from hospital, had to walk a couple of the hills, but got it done. I was a bit emotional heading into the last 4km as I reminisced about the last 4km of Oxfam 100km last year. Missing my Viking Sisters and... our long runs. Done and dusted, a few days rest and on to the next challenge. A little motto that runs through my head when Im running Cancer sucks, dying is worse! Gotta kick its butt! Thank you @becs_fitlife for the motivation. #breastcancer #her2positivebreastcancer #cancersucks #running #strongwomen #plantbased #runningmumsaustralia #staystrong #embracethejourney #chemotherapy #chemoandexercise #cancerandexercise See more

04.01.2022 Such a beautiful surprise on Fathers Day to get this wonderful box of soaps, candles, scrubs, oils and bath salts from @bodiluv_handmade_spa_products! Sneakily left on our deck early in the morning. We love using this soap as its not harsh on the skin like some commercial soaps. My middle boy suffers from sore red hands if he uses too much soap, but this is amazing! Thank you V! It was so thoughtful of you to do this. I cant wait to give you a huge hug.

03.01.2022 Heres your HIIT session folks! Set up an interval timer if you have one, if not I use Interval Timer from the App Store (Free version) and preset my timing...s. Once they are set ... away you go!!! Round #1: 45sec work : 15sec Rest Round #2: 30sec work : 12sec Rest Round #3: 20sec work : 8sec Rest Give yourself about 30sec between rounds and HIIT it up! 02.01.2022 A little bit of backyard MetaPwr this morning. Jacob and I did Savage together, I had to modify a few things, but I worked hard! HIIT sessions rock baby! Heading out for a bike ride soon. How good is the weather? What a few days: Cancer, chemo, stage 4 lockdown, storm, no power, no internet, no clean drinking water.....living the dream! Thinking of a challenge for the next 4 weeks and Ive decided on this: 30-40km of run walk 2 weight sessions (body weight or weights)... Whos in? 01.01.2022 Fighting cancer with diet and exercise! Vegan jambalaya. AMAZING! It’s now my go to recipe for busy nights. 10min and it’s on the stove cooking. Packed with veggies, brown rice, cumin, paprika, coriander, garlic, homemade veggie broth. Served with avo, squeeze of lime and coriander. Soooo good. I make huge batches that we eat over a few days. Chuck it in a wrap or on a bed of spinach. 6km run today, plus weights workout. Heart rate was a bit jumpy today, so easier day tomorrow.

01.01.2022 6km run, slow AS, but at least I ran the whole way and my heart rate was good. I then walked another 2km to make it 8km in total. Running clears my head and makes me feel like ME! Cancer strips you of so much; your hair, your eyebrows, your boobs, you lose faith in your body, you never know how you are going to feel from one day to the next and it leaves you in a heightened state of anxiety 24/7! So for me to be able to run and to work out is so important, it makes me feel m...ore like me. Thank you to mum who came up and helped with the online learning yesterday. I was a bit unwell, so the extra help was awesome. Bring on next term when we will hopefully be back to some sort of normality with school! (Although, I am loving having them home!) #running #staystrong #cancersucks #breastcancer #her2positivebreastcancer #fitmums #embracethejourney #chemoandexercise #cancerandexercise #runningmotivation See more

01.01.2022 Chemo 12 done! 4 rounds of AC chemo and 8 rounds of taxol with three rounds of herceptin and perjeta. The chemicals coursing through this body OMG! 4 more chemos to go before I embark on a year of targeted therapies. Bring it on! Went straight out and ran/walked 10km around the hospital block. Managed 6km run without stopping before embarking on some nasty hills back to the car. I ran/walked the next 4km. Awesome to see the lovely @bwinbanks this afternoon. She always brings ...a smile to my face. Today I managed another 10km in total of run walk thats three days in a row. 30km down 70km to go as part of the Virtual Bright Running Festival. Hopefully no side effects tomorrow and I can keep the kms ticking over. Lets see what September has in stall for us.......Jumanji Level 9, lets go team! #running #chemoandexercise #exerciseandcancer #her2positivebreastcancer #breastcancer #strongwomen #embracethejourney #fasting #perjeta #herceptin #runningmumsaustralia #fitlife #plantpowered #plantbased See more
