18.01.2022 Recognising the original inhabitants and custodians on this WA Day with a throwback to a poster I designed back in 2010 for the Nyoongar Art Award. Taking the Aborigine words for Swan River, "Derbal Yaragan" was handwritten to form the shape of the river that runs through our city and suburbs. The fluidity of the writing resembles the flowing water, while the structure typed words represent the buildings and banks alongside the river. My husband and I have two young girls and a little boy, and I truly wonder what I did before we had them. 08.01.2022 ProFresh Painting Services are a Perth, Australia based business specialising in residential, commercial and industrial painting. Being a new start-up business, they didnt have an existing logo, so we had to start from scratch. They came to me with an idea of what they wanted (which is great that they took the time to research and find what they like!). Most of the time when I receive examples of what my client wants, I will make sure to understand what they like about the ...examples they have found and recreate something unique for them to suit their needs. It is important to have a logo developed just for you rather than editing or using an existing design found online, as this will avoid issues with copyright and trademarking your logo. In this case, they wanted a stylised paintbrush, and the business name two-toned with either bright blue or bright green either colour keeping in line with being "fresh" and "PROFESSional". Although I am a sucker for a bright green, the guys at ProFresh felt blue was a better fit for them. I initially developed the paintbrush icon digitally but was finding I couldnt quite get the right curves needed to create the perfect paint swoosh. 03.01.2022 Using imagery in your branding is a great way of letting people know what you are all about at a glance. Take the logo we did for Advanced Vision Security Installations. They specialise in security alarm systems and security CCTV cameras (along with a tonne of other services!), so it was only fitting going with something along those lines. Aaron who is the proprietor of Advanced Vision had a clear vision when he wanted to create his logo, and using a security camera was part ...of it. We took a camera they use in their day-to-day work and digitised it into a vector format, using black, white and shades of grey. 02.01.2022 "I need a logo for a leak detection business Im starting up" were the words I received from a relative. I actually love designing for family. I can be a bit more out there with my ideas and feel I have a bit more freedom with my designs. Basic brief was: Capture the water/leak aspect Incorporate the colours from the thermal imaging camera that is used in detecting leaks... The idea came quite quickly. A water drop in a mosaic style using purples, pinks, oranges and yellows, and white to highlight. Taking components from the logo such as the horizontal line, we created balance on the front between the logo and contact details.
