24.01.2022 Remote or Indirect Photobiomodulation. What You Aren't Being Told And Need To Know.

24.01.2022 It would be very nice if rebuilding our health was something that didn't require any advice or input from anyone else. With respect to a hair mineral analysis this is certainly the case. Many people think that they simply need to follow the computer generated report and they will be fine. Unfortunately the computer can't take into account some of the concepts that must be interpreted by a highly skilled practitioner. The AVERAGING PRINCIPLE is one of those. Each hair mineral ...reading represents an average rate of mineral accumulation in the hair sample over the sampling period (8-12 weeks). This means that the actual mineral deposition in the hair tissue can vary from day to day and week to week. we only know the average accumulation. This must be understood to avoid confusion, at times. For example, a zinc reading may seem very high on one test, and then decrease on the next test. This may make little sense until one realises that the level may have been decreasing constantly over the past six months, but we can only see the average reading during each period that the hair grew. Advantages and disadvantages of longer-term, average readings. Advantages of longer-term readings are: 1) long-term trends and patterns are often easier to see and, 2) readings are not affected by day-to-day ups and downs due to dietary changes, menstrual periods and other shorter term factors. The advantage of an instantaneous reading is it would give a more up to- date reading. The best we can do if this is required is to use very short pieces of hair cut very close to the scalp. This will provide a more recent picture, but it will still not be an instantaneous report like a blood test. Implications: 1) A single hair test cannot reveal if a mineral level is increasing, decreasing or remaining steady over the three-month growth period of the hair. 2) Identical readings on a person's successive hair tests may have different meaning. For example, let us say the copper level on two tests is 4 mg%. It is possible that during the three months represented by the first test, the copper was rising, but averages 4 mg%. During the three months represented by the second sample, the copper level may be falling, but still averaged 4 mg%. The meaning is different, but the average reading is the same. Hopefully you can see from these short examples how critical the interpretation of a hair mineral analysis is. If you have questions about any levels, or ratio's on your report I'd love to hear them whether you are one of my clients or not.

21.01.2022 https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1002/oby.22838 While we wait for a vaccine there is very sound advice here we can all follow. "In the interest of personal and public health, we caution decision and policy makers alike not to pin all hope on a proverbial silver bullet. Until further breakthroughs emerge, we should remember that modifiable lifestyle factors such as diet and physical activity should not be marginalized. Decades of empirical evidence support both as key factors promoting health and wellness." Get your Vitamin D.

16.01.2022 "No matter what we've already achieved, there will be times when we come up against roadblocks to personal and professional progress. The question is not whether you're going to have problems, but how you're going to deal with them when they come up." Tony Robbins Here is a story for you to think about. Two young boys were raised by an alcoholic father. As they grew older, they moved away from that broken home, each going his own way in the world. Several years later, they ha...ppened to be interviewed separately by a psychologist who was analysing the effects of drunkenness on children in broken homes. His research revealed that the two men were strikingly different from each other. One was a clean-living teetotaler; the other, a hopeless drunk like his father. The psychologist asked each of them why he developed the way he did, and each gave an identical answer, "What else would you expect when you have a father like mine?" That story was revealed by Dr. Hans Selye, internationally renowned Canadian physician and scientist known as the father of stress. A medical pioneer, he devoted the majority of his years to the exploration of biological stress. And he related the story of the two sons of the drunken father in an article for New Realities. Stress theory and Dr. Selye's work is a critical part of nutritional balancing. Stress has a very predictable and reliable response in the human body and the minerals on a hair tissue analysis tell that story. More and more we are seeing people in the exhausted stage of stress and having to rebuild from the ground up. Why? The story illustrates a deeper and cardinal rule implicit in stress, health, and human behaviour. Picture your stress as a spider. If you are scared of spiders you will have a stress response in your body and if the spider never goes away you will eventually reach the burnout/exhausted stage. If you are not scared of spiders then you will not have any stress response at all, and no negative health consequences. The drunk son perceived his stress in a negative fashion and acted according to his belief. The successful son interpreted his stress and roadblocks in an entirely different manner. The key is how you perceive and interpret the stress. So when you hit your next roadblock in life (because it is coming) how are you going to perceive it and act? Are you going to curl up in a ball and cry woe is me, or are you going to accept facts and get on with the business of best dealing with it. It is truly dependent on how we perceive it. Armed with this kind of information, it would seem that we can greatly improve our reactions to stressful situations. What seems to be a cruel world to one person might be filled with challenge and opportunity to another. It is our reaction that makes the difference. Dr. Todd Lizon B.P.H.E., D.C.

08.01.2022 Is Vitamin D as important as some studies say or not important as others studies say? Perhaps its the red and near infrared light of photobiomodulation that is actually providing the benefits and EVERYONE has it wrong. This isn't as crazy as you might think.

07.01.2022 I really think there is a strong possibility that the food we eat (greens) needs light to fully reach it's potential in our bodies.

07.01.2022 I don't know if this will prove to be 100% true but I will continue to take my Vit D.

06.01.2022 Stress management tip #2 Exercise. Many don't realise that the word motion (exercise) is the key part of the word EMOTION. Stressed or not feeling emotionally well? Go for a walk or get some vigorous exercise and see how you feel after.

04.01.2022 All of us live in an invisible cesspool, and we don't know it. The air we breathe, the water we drink, the food we eat, the clothing we wear" The question we need to ask is how do we get rid of it?

03.01.2022 A study in the Journal of Photochemistry & Photobiology, B: Biology 155 (2016) 7885 titled Infrared and skin: Friend or foe has shed further "light" on the benefits of near infrared for the skin. Recently some people or studies were implying that near infrared was somehow going to harm the skin and it should be avoided. Perhaps this was a marketing ploy or perhaps it was well intentioned but any concern can and should be put to rest. Near infrared is good for the skin an...d for healing in general. The article explores this in depth but we are going to focus on the fascinating findings that revolve around preconditioning the skin to prevent damage by ultra violet (UV) rays. Preconditioning is the process where the skin is exposed to certain light frequencies to trigger protective genes that protect against future UV insults. Initially this was done with UVB radiation but we know UVB is damaging in and of itself so using a damaging ray to prevent further skin damage is a bit too risky. Enter near infrared. The authors report that "it has become apparent that visible & near infrared can also be effective if delivered to normal cells or tissue before the actual insult or trauma, in a pre-conditioning mode." They further go on to say "The process of exposing the skin to such radiation before its exposure to deleterious UVR wavelengths, closely emulates processes found in nature. This is understandable from an evolutionary standpoint since exposure to these early morning red and IR-A (near infrared) wavelengths in sunlight may ready the skin for the coming mid-day deleterious ultraviolet radiation" What this all means is that nature has built in a protective system for us, where exposure to near infrared helps to protect us against ultraviolet damage. Fascinating. The authors then go on to report that the near infrared preconditioning also had "a SPF-15-like sun protection factor effect and a reduction in post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation were observed." This means the preconditioning with near infrared essentially worked like an SBF-15 sunscreen preventing damage and sun burns. So what can we conclude? The first thing is that near infrared has a natural built in positive function in skin. Preconditioning by exposure helps prevent ultraviolet damage. I did not know this and I'm pretty sure this will be new and insightful information for you. While I haven't written about it above, the article also clearly explains that near infrared helps people with faster healing of wounds and for anti-inflammatory purposes. Finally I think we can look at near infrared as what nature has intended for us. It is part of the grand design and perhaps has a more beneficial role than we have previously thought. Near infrared is a friend to our skin.

02.01.2022 Except during the summer months, the skin makes little if any vitamin D from the sun at latitudes below 37 degrees south of the equator. People who live in these areas are at relatively greater risk for vitamin D deficiency. Vit D is showing to have many positive aspects in the medical literature when it comes to the immune system and even Covid19. Perhaps it's just a coincidence but Melbourne is just below 37 degrees....... just a thought. nirsauna.com.au
