23.01.2022 Dear Loyal Followers, we need you to read this post in full. Our farmers are doing it tough and they really need our support. The recent bushfires in Queensland... have been the last nail in the coffin for our struggling farmers. Whilst the media attention has subsided, our farmers are still doing it tougher than ever. Call after call are still streaming in for help. Then, out of the blue, these fires. Our farmers were struggling mentally and we are afraid that this will be a tipping point. You may have also seen some noise about rural towns soon having no water supply (gulp). Could you imagine, no fresh water to drink or even shower with.. Its pretty tough out there and we are urging you tonight to chip in to give our farmers some comfort. To let them know that they can count on us when they are in their darkest place. Its incredible to think that fresh water is a luxury in this country. It pains our heart to know this. We will be immediately using the money raised to buy fresh water and it will go straight to our farmers. So tonight, were asking you, can you please chip in just $5? Its just $5 but the best money you will spend this week we promise. It will help provide warmth, love and support to our farmers doing it tough. Im hoping that when I wake up, a miracle has happened. 02.01.2022 LEGENDARY HACK - PICASSO Its time to honour this wonderful Victorian thoroughbred horse with his own post. He took all before him for so many years. Hack an...d Supreme Championships at so many Royal Shows, Barastocs, Horse of the Year Shows, Garryowens etc. etc. all over this country. He was almost entirely ridden by Vicki Lawrie (Ward) and those that saw him in the flesh can remember his wonderful conformation, manners and that amazing ground-covering trot. He didnt need endless makeup or be dripping in oil to look good, he was such a star. In his later years he retired with Chris Hector and Rossie Neave (owners of The Horse Magazine) in a beautiful paddock with stable. He was waited on hand and foot. He lived with them in the manner he was accustomed to until he passed away. There were not many horses that reached legendary status, but Picasso was one that did. 01.01.2022 LEGENDARY AUSTRALIAN SHOWJUMPER The great CYGNET RAMBLER has featured before, but here we have two photos of him - one from his early days and then a much later... one.Cygnet Rambler deserves his own story here. Ridden his whole life by South Australian Jeff Evans, he was, without doubt, one of the greatest horses competing in the world at the time. Having been to many shows in Europe at this time (1974) we didnt see a horse who could have beaten him. Sadly he didnt get to represent Australia at the Olympic Games due to the Equestrian Federation of Australia and their personality problems. He won the Australian Showjumping Championship in 1966 and 1974. Both were in Adelaide. He would not have competed in a lot because most people were limited to how much they could travel in those days, and the title was moved around Australia. Anybody who saw Cygnet Rambler jump will never forget his ability and extraordinary jump (no matter what he faced). Coming from the killers yard and purchased by Jeffs horse-dealing father he was a handful after a class and sometimes would bound and charge, so it was not unusual for Jeff to dismount and lead him out of the arena. Thank you Cygnet Rambler and Jeff for giving us all the most amazing adrenalin rush for so many years. Photo Credit: Possibly the Adelaide Daily Paper, Ian Gray Hoofs and Horns.
