24.01.2022 Cyclists? What cyclists? Ain't no problem here!

20.01.2022 Im Rini, a professional dog trainer and behaviour specialist based in Melbourne, Australia. I aim to provide a service that is practical, effective, and will help build the dog/human relationship, turning troublesome dogs into sociable and well-balanced members of the family.

19.01.2022 Despite the long break between posts, Learn to Lead has continued doing what we do best (good thing the dog training skills are better than the social media skills!); and now would like to introduce to you the newest member of the team: Little Dee Sparks - your classic foster fail case.

16.01.2022 The world can sometimes feel like a pretty scary place; but when dogs find a strong leader in their owner, they are able to relax and not sweat the small stuff. Or any of the stuff really. Nervous dogs like Celie will particularly benefit from leadership. holding a drop helps build this up; and here Dee lends a helping paw by providing some morale support for Celie in her first ever drop-step-away.

15.01.2022 Here is Possum after only a couple of sessions; walking beautifully on lead, even with the distraction of another dog. Now going for walk is enjoyable for them both :) Like is should be!

13.01.2022 Sometimes going for walks can become a bit of an ordeal. This is how Possum was conducting outings before beginning training.

12.01.2022 Having boundaries in your home helps to establish positive leadership. Teaching this to dogs is fairly easy. Teaching parrots however, not so much...

10.01.2022 Abby is still excited to see her family...however after learning some manners, she expresses this in a much nicer way. This means people are now just as pleased to see her as she is them!

10.01.2022 Tilly has since decided that cyclists may not warrant such a fuss after all. She no longer has any qualms at all about sharing the bridge with them. Great job Tilly, what a good girl!

08.01.2022 Here is Otto continuing to be polite, around what is such a huge distraction for him. What a good boy!

08.01.2022 Although Abby is only excited to see her family, this kind of jumping behaviour is extremely pushy and demanding. It is how she liked to greet everyone, regardless of whether they appreciated it or not. This can be extremely unpleasant and annoying for some people and often results in the dog being isolated whenever guests come around. But it doesn't have to be like this!

07.01.2022 You have probably heard how important it is to socialise your pup with other dogs... But what is not so commonly understood, is that not all socialisation is actually going to benefit your puppy. In order to help your pup become a well-adjusted adult, it is important to do this in a controlled and supervised environment. Here is a nice demonstration of appropriate socialising, where the puppies are learning manners and building confidence.

06.01.2022 This is Otto. Otto had a very keen interest in the chickens. Far too keen for the liking of his feathered sisters and the rest of his family! This is him learning to make friends with them in the kind of calm way, they all appreciated. You can hear his mum warning him when he shows too much intense interest, and you can see how he responds by backing off again. What a great response from such a young pup!

06.01.2022 Todays post is a tribute to the guy who started it all. To my constant companion, my business partner, my best friend. With your big heart and endless enthusiasm for life, you always kept me on my toes! Thank you for challenging me, for bringing so much joy, laughter and frustration, for the unconditional love you gave, and for all the times you made me so proud. You taught me far more than I could ever teach you. ... Loosing you has left a great big hole in my life and in my heart. But it hurt so much to watch you fade away, get weak, and finally tell me you had had enough; so when I told you Free for the very last time; I was relieved you finally were. R.I.P my beautiful boy Fritz AKA Chris 12/09/10 27/07/17

03.01.2022 Poppi demonstrating her long drop under distraction Level: Ninja * Special thanks to Samson for demonstrating such patience*

02.01.2022 Tilly always had a lot to say to any cyclist that she came across. She especially enjoyed yelling at them, and about them, on this bridge. However not everyone else relished in this as much as she. Problem barking can become tiresome, irritating and embarrassing. But the good news is, it isn't something you have to endure!
