12.01.2022 On 12th November 2012 Prime Minister Julia Gillard announced the creation of a national royal commission into institutional responses to instances of child sexual abuse. The Australian Federal Government had been under increasing pressure to act following growing calls for a national inquiry into allegations that the Catholic Church, amongst other institutions, had covered up evidence involving paedophile priests. Ms Gillard said the Government would consult stakeholders in t...he coming weeks before announcing the terms of reference. Mackie Crompton has had significant experience over many years acting for victims of sexual abuse, particularly where the abuse was perpetrated by an authority figure within a church. On many occasions we have successfully obtained compensation and apologies for victims. For confidential and compassionate legal advice and representation please contact Craig Mackie.
