So here I've picked size 14 for the neckline, shoulders and armhole, size 16 for bust/waist then extended beyond size 18 for hips. 17.01.2022 During my social media hiatus, I've been doing a little bit of home decor sewing. I had to shorten and hem these lace curtains. I decided I wanted a nice clean hemline and used my overlocker to do it. Inspired by the finish on the curtains already, I used the cording foot on my overlocker with size 00 piping cord. 14.01.2022 There are times when I sew a temporary seam that's going to be removed later. To make it easier to remove I change the bobbin to a contrasting thread - if I remember It's also a good idea to loosen the needle thread tension to make the stitches easier to remove. For me, that's asking for trouble So, when I'm cutting out my project I just chose which side is going to be the wrong side and mark it with an X. 03.01.2022 This series of photos is a study of how sewing skills develop over time. . PHOTO 1: The very first stretch T-Shirt I ever made. It was a bit of a fail - I used the wrong pattern, the wrong sewing machine needle and the wrong hemming technique. But, I was still so pleased I had a go at sewing a knit garment. It's also very durable. It's over 5 years old and I still wear it as a pyjama top ... . PHOTO 2: The third t-shirt I made. This time I used a pattern for stretch fabric, 100% cotton jersey, this time the pattern included a hem band - I left the armholes unhemmed though . PHOTO 3 & 4: Are my most recent makes. I used patterns for stretch, used stretch fabric with good recovery and I constructed them on an overlocker and coverstitch. When I'm wandering around I keep my phone in the chest pocket - usually playing a podcast The top was made ages ago from rayon spandex and the pinafore was made last year in cotton drill, both fabrics were bought at #spotlightstores. Wearing natural fibres stop me from overheating in warmer months. ....
