24.01.2022 The Maldon in Winter program starts with the opening of the Christmas Window display on Friday 27th June followed by a number of events including two fabulous fundraising events for the library: Black & White & Read All Over the story of newspapers in Central Victoria. 2.30pm, 29th June, Athenaeum Hall. Speakers: Denis Cox, Jeff Jones, Chris Oakes and Andrew Leckie. Compere: John Arnold. Athenaeum Library fundraiser. Bring any old and interesting newspapers to share. Entry ...$5, incl. tea/coffee. and Local History Book 2.30pm, 13th July, Athenaeum Hall. Christopher Creek will talk about the soon to be published book he has written on the Eaglehawk area of Maldon. Entry $5

22.01.2022 Easter book sale on Saturday and Easter Monday. It will be fairly low key and in front of the library...rain/hail or snow. We will commence around 9.00 a.m on Saturday and around procession time on the Monday. We intend to ‘shut up shop’, depending on how many people are about but not later than 3.00 p.m. on Saturday and 2.00 p.m on Monday.

07.01.2022 Don't miss the local history book launch will takes place tomorrow in the Maldon Anthenaeum Hall from 2.30pm. Christopher Creek, owner of Maldon's Eaglehawk Motel, will be talking about his research on the history of the Eaglehawk area around Maldon.

07.01.2022 The other day a member of the public popped his head in the door and asked the volunteers on duty if book donations were being accepted as his mother was relocating to Melbourne. "We sure do. How many would you have?" "About 200", he replied! Needless to say this was very good news as we need to build up our stock of saleable books for our next big sale. Book donations at this time will be gratefully received!

07.01.2022 We are very proud of our extensive Junior Library . It's stacked full of wonderful picture story books; great stories for junior readers and some top of the range books for the young adult readers. Junior membership is free - why not check it out?

06.01.2022 Christine, our wonderful Storytime co-ordinator was spotted at the Maldon Easter Parade - dressed up as a storybook character of course!

05.01.2022 Our Annual General Meeting occurs in October and all positions will be declared vacant. i.e. President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, Asst. Secretary, Social Secretary. New faces would be wonderful and we would enjoy initiating any willing volunteer to one of the executive roles. Our AGM is scheduled for 10.00am on Monday 19th October, 10.00am in the Library Reading Room. If you would like to come as an observer only in the initial stages, do feel free to attend.

05.01.2022 We have a copy of Donna Tartt's 2014 Pulitzer Prize winning book "The Goldfinch" in our collection!

04.01.2022 A new addition to our library is "After Romulus" by Raimond Gaita. In this collection of essays the author reflects on the writing of "Romulus My Father", the making of the film and his relationship to the beauty of Central Victoria. (Thanks to Liz Pollard - a more detailed review was published in the "Tarrangower Times" on 1 August 2014)

04.01.2022 Popular & prolific author Alexander McCall-Smith is currently in Australia. He seems to be popping up in interviews all over the place. If you missed it - here's one of the interviews aired this week. Oh, of course we have many of his books in our library!
