24.01.2022 Congratulations to Riley Field and Kasey Walton who both achieved their National C-Badge umpire accreditation in the past fortnight at Busselton Netball Association. Riley and Kasey were both commended on their excellent skills from assessors. Its fantastic to see our umpires achieving accreditation during this short season. Well done. Our Association is proud to now have six National C-Badge umpires and a wonderful cohort of green-shirts, all of whom help to make our netball stronger.

18.01.2022 A Worthy Recipient of our Spirit of Netball Award for 2019 is: Cobie Field. A couple of us mum/committee members were discussing this at Association Champs this year in Perth. Our conversation revolved around how involved Cobie was with our Association, not only does she umpire on Saturday mornings and always has a smile for all the littlest members of our association. But we also offered her an assistant coaching position with the U12's Development Team under the direction ...of Kristi Head, of which she came to every training session, gave guidance and a few laughs to our young players. During the Association Champs weekend, Cobie got up extra early every morning and braided hair (I am not sure of the number but possibly half of the whole 4 teams we took!), laughed with the girls, settled them and also offered words of advice to some of our youngest players who were feeling the nerves and anxiety and excitement of the weekend for the first time. She attended every game (when she was not umpiring the U13's) for the U12's and always had a smile for any of the young players. I have personally seen how this bunch of 10 girls (U12's) looked up to Cobie, saw her as a friend and gave her the respect she deserves. Cobie is the essence of our young players and the Margaret River Netball Association values of fun, participation and opportunity to grow and develop as a young person through playing, coaching and umpiring. Thank you Cobie, on behalf of all our Association for the contribution you have made this last year. And we hope we we have you back next year! Carly Scott President Margaret River Netball Association

15.01.2022 Some light reading on netball rules

14.01.2022 Hello Everyone, I would just like to introduce myself, Janet Smith as your new President for 2021 I look forward to working with the committee this year to bring you a FUN, welcoming and inclusive environment for ALL to enjoy ‘grass roots’ netball. For those that don’t know me, I grew up playing netball in Margaret, back in the day of bitumen courts (now the tennis precinct). Playing association and school netball, a brief stint in u19 SW Jets (until injury & travel) and al...most a decade playing for our Hawks Netball team. I have been involved in many sports in our community as a president, coach, umpire, committee member or general volunteer. The friends and connections I have made in such roles is why I continue to give my time despite having 3 kids and 2 businesses. I hope the positivity I bring will entice others to volunteer their time. For those that do know me, you understand my passion working with kids, seeing young girls (and boys) thrive through sport and fitness is the ‘name of the game’ So for now, enjoy the rest of your chosen summer sport season if you are participating and we look forward to the arrival of winter - ONLY because it’s NETBALL

13.01.2022 Great community group to be involved in! You don’t need to have kids playing to be a part of this fabulous committee Any little bit of help we can get will be greatly appreciated!!!

13.01.2022 Dear Netball Family, It has taken me all weekend to gather my thoughts enough to write this post. I spoke with Liz Booth from Netball WA about the directive to postpone the start of the 2020 Netball Season. The decision for our committee was to decide:... 1. Still run a full 14 round competition, which would involve playing to the end of Term 3 and have 2 weeks of double rounds 2. Run a shorter season, which would involve processing refunds for approx.. 180 members that have already registered. The committee decided that we would stay with the full 14 round competition. By choosing option 2, we would put a lot of extra volunteer hours on to the committee in chasing everyone who had registered for bank details and processing the partial refund. Registrations will now remain open until 30/04/2020. I know that a lot of you will have questions regarding withdrawing your registration and refunds. I spoke to Liz about this question. She asked that we wait until this week as Netball WA are issuing a statement. There is no issue for MRNA to refund their component of the fee to you should you wish to withdraw your registration, however it is the Netball WA component that we need to have clarified. So if you could please be patient we will have the answer for you when Netball WA issues its statement. Please also understand that we are volunteers, should we have to process a lot of refunds this will take time as most of us work full-time and we do our volunteering around work, children and family. Please stay safe at this time. Carly Harris President

12.01.2022 I just want to let you all know that we have been recognised in our local sporting community for outstanding implementation of all required COVID health and safety measures. I want to take this opportunity to congratulate and thank all the Associations Volunteers, umpires, the players and families. Without all your continued support and understanding the importance of these continued measures, we would be putting everyone at risk. Also I want to thank parents and guardians f...or still abiding by the netball ruling of no jewellery (even taped) when playing. See you all court side Amber Fairbrass President Margaret River Netball Association

Training & Games start Week 1 of Term 2 - exact fixtures and times to follow once we have finalised the teams Division Age Groups are: Set U9's Yr 2 in 2013, 2012 & 2011 born training Thursday afternoons from 3.45pm and playing Saturday mornings from 8.30am Go U11's 2010 & 2009 born training Friday afternoons from 3.45pm and playing Saturday mornings from 9.30am U13's 2008 & 2007 born training Monday afternoons from 3.45pm and playing Wednesday afternoons from 4.00pm U18's 2006, 2005, 2004 & 2003 born training Tuesday afternoons from 4.00pm and playing Wednesday evenings from 5.10pm Coaches & Team Managers please email: [email protected] to register your interest Requests - We do not accept any special requests to be in specific teams, with specific coaches or to be in the same team as a friend. It is a very complicated job to organise our 300+ players into fair and even teams for our volunteer competition coordinators, which we dont want to make an even more arduous task by adding special requests such as these. This year all players within an age group will train and play on the same day, so that will make carpooling easier. And we are all here to have fun and make new friends, so please encourage your children to be open to new experiences and new people and embrace whatever team they are allocated to. What we will accept is requests for children to play down a division, or up a division - again please email [email protected] with your reasons, or you may call me direct to talk to me first, all requests are confidential. Adornments - Please understand that safety of our players is a huge concern for us, as per Netball rules NO ADORNMENTS are allowed to be worn during any game. This includes but is not limited to EARRINGS & TAPING OF EARRINGS. Best to plan ahead if you want to get your childs ears pierced so the 6 week period of leaving them in is PRIOR TO NETBALL SEASON. Lastly we have 2 positions vacant: Vice President - looking for someone to help out in the background, sit in for the President, and bring your good vibes to our committee U9 Coordinator - looking for 1 or 2 parents to run the Saturday competition always with a smile at 8.30am on a Saturday morning! Please note that although registrations will open for this division, we won't start fixturing/playing games until we have filled this position Please call me if you are interested, I am happy to talk with you about the role responsibilities Looking forward to seeing some new and familiar faces this season! Thank you Carly Harris President Margaret River Netball Association 0428 777 450

11.01.2022 Coaches & Managers Needed for U18s We are desperately in need of 5 more coaches and 3 more managers for the season starting next week. Its only 9 weeks and there are no finals so if youve ever considered coaching/managing, then now is the time! The alternative is cutting teams and/or making remaining teams larger which reduces the court time for everyone :-( If you can help, please email [email protected]

11.01.2022 Netball Season 2020 Postponed until 30th May 2020 Following advice from Netball WA, the start of the 2020 netball season will be postponed until 30/05/20. The MRNA committee is meeting this week to decide what this means for our season and registrations will be suspended whilst we work through this. We appreciate your patience and understanding, and we will update you as soon as we can. Edit: We appreciate that everyone will have questions regarding if we have a short season,... fee adjustments, refunds etc, if you could all please hold your questions until we can meet as a committee and discuss and send out information to all our members that would be much appreciated. Please be assured that we are already thinking of all the questions that you are and we want to address them all in one communication to all members. Thank you Carly Harris President
