20.01.2022 Maroondah Vollyball’s state league program, Maroondah Cobras wouldn’t be possible without the help of our fabulous volunteers. From the coaches to the parent helpers, and the administrators all this means our players can take court each week. Beyond the club, many of our volunteers also get into the referee stands at Volleyball Victoria’s State League each week to support the wider competition. #NVW2021 #maroondahvolleyball #becomeavolunteer #referee #maroondahcobras

19.01.2022 Yesterday the federal government provided advice to the sports involved in the Coalition of Major Professional and Participation Sports (Netball, AFL, Rugby Union, Rugby League, Soccer, Cricket and Tennis) that Community Sport should continue across Australia for the following reasons: - For the physical and mental health and wellbeing of the community; - There is no suggestion or evidence that the virus can be transmitted through sweat. They recommended that community spo...rt continues with full compliance to government restrictions that limit gatherings to less than 500 people and all published hygiene guidelines. Here at Maroondah Volleyball we are following these recommendations, we have increased our hygiene practices for cleaning of all the equipment, and have allowed flexibility for teams that might have a player or two unable or uncomfortable attending at this time. Maroondah Volleyball sees the current COVID-19 health issues as externally serious for the community, and also acknowledges that the physical and mental wellbeing is also vitally important for the community at this time. When government regulations and advice changes, we will update and change our programs and competitions as required.

19.01.2022 Good stuff everyone, great to be back in it.

19.01.2022 A reminder we now have Social Sundays, starting tonight from 6pm to 8pm. Just a very low $5 entry. Tonight’s features include social music Volleyball and an introduction to light volley. Light Volley is a new program by Volleyball Australia which is low impact, larger and softer ball and great for people wanting a slower and easier paced game. Registrations online at https://bit.ly/MV-SocialSundays and pay at the door (cash or card welcome).

19.01.2022 Volunteer Achievement Award - Geoff Moss We are trilled that one of our life members, Geoff Moss was awarded the Volunteer Achievement Award in the 2019 Volleyball Victoria Affiliate Awards. This is a wonderful acknowledgement of all the work Geoff has done for Maroondah Volleyball right back to the inception of Croydon & Districts Volleyball Association in 1977 where Geoff was first involved as a player. In 1978 he joined the committee as the Vice President, a position ...he held until 1988 when we was elected as President. He remains our longest serving President stepping down in 2008. Since that time he continues to volunteer with the association out on the court as a referee, and mentor to our upcoming referees and new members. Behind the scenes he continues to work tirelessly in the office supporting the committee and volunteers in all manner of tasks, especially the planning and running of our annual tournament. Geoff was made a life member of Maroondah Volleyball (CDVA) in 1985, and was awarded the Presidents Award in 2017 for his continued service, one of just two recipients of this award. Congratulations to all finalists; Bethany Smarrelli, Geoff Moss, Jack Caret and Nic Ryan who are all deserving winners. This award is a great recognition that all our associations and clubs have dedicated volunteers that are the heart and soul.

18.01.2022 Most Outstanding Association - Maroondah Volleyball We are thrilled to have been awarded the Most Outstanding Association in the 2019 Volleyball Victoria Affiliate Awards. This is wonderful recognition and a huge thank you to our committee, volunteers, coaches, referees, players, participants, parents and supporters who without you we wouldnt be able to achieve all that we do.... It is a great honour for Maroondah Volleyball and is recognition of our continual growth over number of years in promoting the sport of Volleyball and our work with the wider Volleyball Community, Volleyball Victoria and Volleyball Australia.

15.01.2022 Maroondah Volleyball is working towards a safe return to the courts, however the current restrictions in place for Metropolitan Melbourne limit us to what we are able to offer our members at this time. As Metropolitan Melbourne moved to Third Step of restrictions on 27th October, it saw with it restrictions ease to: * Outdoor non-contact sport can resume for adults. This is limited to the minimum number of people required to participate in and facilitate the activity (e.g. cr...icket may be played with two teams of eleven players and the necessary coaching personnel and umpires). * Outdoor sport (contact and non-contact) can resume for people aged 18 and under, limited to the minimum number of people required for the activity (e.g. players, necessary coaches and umpires and those required for supervision of young children or to support people with a disability). * Outdoor sport and recreation facilities can open. - Fitness and dance classes can be held outdoors with up to 10 people, including classes associated with gyms. The ten-person cap does not include those necessary for the class such as the teacher. Classes must be outdoor. - Up to ten people can participate in outdoor personal training, with the trainer not included in the cap. From 11:59pm Sunday 8 November - VICTORIA WIDE (Subject to confirmation from the State Government) * Community sports for 18 YEARS OLD and Under can return to Outdoor (contact) Competition and/or Training. With a maximum of 20 participants Indoor (non-contact) training only per venue. * For participants 19 years and over a maximum 10 Outdoor (non-contact) training only. It is also noted that Volleyball Victoria has confirmed that Volleyball has been deemed a non-contact sport, and social distancing measures apply for all training and competitions. We continue to work with Volleyball Victoria to get our return to play plan approved when government restrictions allow to get our members back onto the court. We also continue to work with the Maroondah City Council as the owners of Maroondah Nets to have our Covid Safe Plan approved for the use of the venue when that is allowed.

This is all made possible by over 45 vo...lunteers within our association from the admin, committee through to our coaches, referees and court managers. Each one plays a vital part in providing the extensive volleyball programs we do for the community. At Maroondah Volleyball volunteering is not just about giving something back. 13.01.2022 A quick message, when coming for your game tonight at Maroondah Nets, please allow a minute to drop into the bathrooms and give you hands a wash. Thanks.

13.01.2022 1 Year ago today we played our first volleyball games at our new home at Maroondah Nets. Hoping to be back playing there again soon, missing it heaps.

12.01.2022 We have been reviewing the new COVID-19 regulations regarding 1 person per 4 sq meters of space to ensure we are still complying. A volleyball court is 9m x 18m, giving 162 sq meters, that limits us to 40 people on the court. However the FIVB rules only allow us to have 12 people on the court at one time, so for now we will continue cleaning all our equipment, practicing good hygiene and limiting you to 6 per team on the court.

12.01.2022 For any of our young aspiring athletes, give state team selection a go. Last year we had one of our girls get selected for the U14 team and went on to win gold at the Australian Junior Volleyball Cup.

06.01.2022 Maroondah Volleyball Tournament 2020. Given the current situation of Covid 19 in the Melbourne Metropolitan area, with our 2020 tournament scheduled for mid September, we have no option but to cancel our tournament for 2020. There are too many unknowns to allow us to even consider postponing or re-scheduling the 2020 tournament later this year. We look forward to hopefully running our tournament again in mid September 2021.... Please stay safe during these challenging times.

02.01.2022 ~ Just wanted to check in and see how everyone is doing during COVID-19? ~ At Maroondah Volleyball we are one big family and for a lot of our members we understand that your night at the stadium as a volunteer or with your teammates is a big part of your social connections. During these tough times with COVID-19, we understand that many of our members may be without work or working from home and the pressures this puts on everyone. So if you or someone you know needs a welfare call please dont hesitate to let us know. If the captains feel comfortable to reach out to their teammates and check in with them or if youd prefer one of our committee members to, we are more then happy to have chat on the phone. Stay safe and we look forward to seeing you all again as soon as it is safe to do so.
