22.01.2022 Improving health and daily living with creatine and protein for masters swimmers! Both protein and creatine are shown to improve overall health and daily living... for masters swimmers. As a result, creatine and protein are popular and useful supplements, however, it is important to follow a well-balanced diet with a "food first" approach. If you are considering supplement use, it is important that you discuss an individual dietary plan and appropriate (safe & effective) supplement use with an Accredited Sports Dietitian. You can read more by Steph Cronin from Perform Dietetics on P.7 of the current edition of ReFuel Magazine - https://bit.ly/3fSwmIX #mastersathlete #swimming #sportsnutrition #foodfirst

16.01.2022 A message from Masters Swimming Australia to all our members. Cancellation of the 2021 National Championships. Dear masters swimming community,... The National Board of Management (NBM) of Masters Swimming Australia (MSA) in conjunction with the organising committee of the 2021 Masters National Swimming Championships regrettably advise that the 2021 National Championships scheduled to take place in Darwin between April 30 May 4 will be cancelled. As a direct result of the COVID-19 restrictions, State border closures and heavily restricted travel, and uncertainty of when and where outbreaks may occur, it was considered necessary to cancel next year’s event. We would like to thank our members across Australia who have been training with the 2021 Nationals in sight. Keep swimming! MSA and the National Swim Meet Committee will work together with the Branches to develop a special month of swimming next year to further connect our membership while raising awareness and funds towards mental health. We would like to acknowledge the support of our event sponsors and partners and thank the organising committee of the 2021 Nationals, for their hard work and dedication. While the National Championships for 2020 and 2021 are not to be, we will look forward to the 2022 Nationals in Sydney, and 2023 in Tasmania! The Branches and clubs of MSA are working hard to create fantastic swimming events for members, so continue to enjoy your swimming closer to home with your club and club members. To all our swimming community, stay safe and maintain your social distance and most importantly have fun. Regards, Jane Noake Acting Chair, Masters Swimming Australia Sarah Pisterman General Manager, Masters Swimming Australia

13.01.2022 It's important we all continue to practice physical distancing at community sport to help stop the spread of infection. Change pre and post-match protocols so... players and officials do not touch each other. When watching or attending a game or training, keep a distance of 1.5 metres between yourself and others. Restrict access to change room areas to players, officials and essential staff. There's no room for complacency. For more information about how to stop the spread of infection, visit https://bit.ly/2XcJ7Xq

04.01.2022 Dear masters swimming community, It is with regret that the Masters Swimming Australia National Board of Management, in consultation with the Masters Swimming ...NSW 2020 National Championships organising committee, advise that the 2020 National Championships scheduled to take place in Sydney in September now been cancelled. With the slow re-opening of pools across much of the country, and the return to squad swimming by some clubs, many members had their eyes firmly on a return to normal, including competition events such as the Nationals. However, with travel still heavily restricted and uncertainty about where the next outbreak of COVID-19 may occur, it was considered necessary to cancel this years event. A full refund will be made to those who have already registered; we will work with our external service provider to process these refunds as quickly as possible. We would like to thank all of those members from across Australia, and the world, who had registered to participate in the 2020 National Championships. We would also like to acknowledge the support of our event sponsors and partners. Finally, the National Board of Management extends its thankyou to the organising committee, particularly the Convenor, Jane Noake, for their forbearance; the 2020 Nationals were originally scheduled for April, postponed until September and now, reluctantly, must be cancelled. While the Nationals for 2020 are sadly not to be, the 2021 Nationals arent that far away! Hopefully, come April 2021, our borders will have reopened and travel will be possible for all members. Please mark April 30 to May 3 in your diaries for the 2021 National Championships which are to be held in Darwin. If youre back in the water, enjoy your swimming, and for those in Victoria, keep strong and connected. To all of our members, stay safe, maintain your social distance and remember that were all in this together.
