20.01.2022 Blessings for Today 7/5/21. God’s intention for you as His masterpiece. It is now my intention to show you the joyful fellowship of the Triune God and why they have created things and man, the crowning glory of His creation-His masterpiece. The Trinity is the fundamental and the most beautiful doctrine of the Christian faith. This means that God is primarily a relational being. The Father, the Son and the Spirit have a joyful fellowship and relationship that has always exis...Continue reading

18.01.2022 Blessings for Today, 19/11/20. This might shock you. God is sovereign over everything, even the unjust death of his own Son. This is what the Biblical records tell us: Acts 2:23 Jesus, [who was] delivered up according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and killed by the hands of lawless men. Acts 4:27-28 For truly in this city there were gathered together against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, along wit...Continue reading

17.01.2022 Blessing for Today 11/8/20. Read Rom.1:16-32 The central message of Christianity is not the Sermon on the Mount, nor is it the parables about loving one’s neighbour. The Good Samaritan’s work is the result of the power of the cross in your life. The message that changed the first century world was that human beings are guilty, helplessly guilty of sins for which they can never atone. The cross destroys all human pride to achieve one’s salvation by good works. It is true to ...say and safe to say that the cross stands as proof of God’s love, but it also reveals the ugliness of our sins. Long time ago I heard or read something like this which makes a lot of sense: It was not the nails that crucified Jesus on the cross, it was not the nails that let him hang and die, BUT my sin. Someone has said, It seems unbelievable to comprehend that the early apostles and Christians boldly proclaimed that this cruel, humiliating method of execution of Jesus was God’s most amazing saving event. No wonder it was a stumbling block to the religious people of the day and foolishness to all who considered themselves wise and intellectual. Very few know that the central doctrine of Christianity is that Christ died on the cross to rescue sinners from eternal hell. P. T. Forsyth gives us a warning; If you move faith from that centre, you have driven the nail into the church’s coffin. The church, then, is doomed to death, and it is only a matter of time she shall expire. Pastor Lutzer said: The church can only live and breathe at the cross; without it, there is no life and no reason to exist. Properly proclaimed, it is the power of God unto salvation. (Rom.1:16). In the church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem we saw multitudes of tourists kissing the statue and other icons representing the crucifixion. No doubt most people think of the cross and other icons with deep sentimentality, but without the spirit of repentance it is nothing. Folks, without repentance of sins and faith in Christ, there is no salvation. All your righteousness are very dirty, horrible, smelly rags. There is only one place in the whole wide world where you can find this truth: our utter sinfulness was revealed, the righteousness and holiness of God demonstrated, the wrath of God poured out, the punishment of our sins completed, the love and grace of God abundantly and clearly crystallised. The place? Calvary!! Our only hope in life and death is the righteousness of Christ. Trust Him as your Saviour. All by grace and by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone. See more

17.01.2022 Blessings for today 28/8/20. Read Luke 23:35-39 The temptations and challenges on the cross. Compare the above verses to the early temptations and challenges according to Luke’s account, after Christ’s baptism:... Luke 4:3 the devil said to Him ‘If you are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread.’ Luke 4:6, 7 the devil said to ‘all this authority I will give, and their glory; for this has been delivered to me, and I give to whomever I wish. Therefore, if you will worship before me, all will be yours.’ Luke 4:9 ‘if you are the Son of God, throw yourself down from here Now at the cross, similar insults, taunting and mocking questions were given: If He is the Christ, the chosen of God. v.35 If you are the king of the Jews: v.37 If you are the Christ. V. 39 In the wilderness, right after His baptism, the Devil’s aim was to get Jesus to avoid the way of obedience as the Son of God, that is, to avoid the way that would lead him to suffering and death. The devil offered all these spectacular things to Jesus, just to avoid His death on the cross. And those temptations were not just for 40 days and 40 nights in the wilderness, but throughout His ministry. Even to the cross He was obedient to the Father. Philippians 2:8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. I hope Jesus obedience to the Father would touch the very core of our being, obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Just for your sake and mine. The Holy Spirit led Jesus into the wilderness after His baptism and then He was assaulted by the Devil. Why? The NT shows us that Jesus is the new Adam or the last Adam according to Rom.5:12-15, 18-19. In these verses, in contrast, the first Adam failed in meeting the terms of his probationary period when Satan attacked him. He yielded to the temptation together with Eve. But Jesus the new Adam (second Adam, or last Adam), did not. Every believer today is still being tempted. But God always provides a way of escape if we yield to Him. Resist the temptation and the devil and he will flee from you. By God’s grace you can overcome. All by grace and by grace alone. (to be continued)

16.01.2022 Blessings for Today 19/8/20 Reading Luke.23:35-3 What a picture to see, incredible! The soldiers divided His clothes, the last property He had on this earth. They robbed Him of His honour, His followers, His life, as He was nearing death. Truly, as the Bible says in: 2 Cor.8:9 For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich. ... There was a great crowd. Why? It was a festival week, the celebration of the Passover and Unleavened Bread. There were many Jews returning from different countries and other neighbouring countries. While Jesus was suffering on the cross, thousands stood and looked, others were mocking and taunting Him. Together with the Jewish leaders, the bystanders, the soldiers mocked and jeered: He saved others, let Him saved Himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God. It was a custom at that time that when a condemned man was to be crucified, a notice-board was placed around His neck with the description of his crime for which he was condemned. In Jesus case, Pilate had difficulty. He even openly admitted that Jesus was innocent, and there was nothing recorded to describe the nature of His offence. Pilate knew that these religious leaders were just jealous. Jealousy hurts, sometimes kills. One of the works of the flesh is jealousy (Gal.5:20). Let us replace it with the ‘fruit of the Spirit’ which is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, self-control. So what did Pilate do? In order to avenge himself, because he was not really that happy by the religious fanatics request and pressure, Pilate made an inscription to be written over Him, Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews. In John 19:21 we know that these Jewish authorities were not happy with what Pilate had written and they requested it to be changed. But Pilate said it cannot be changed. As we know earlier, Pilate granted their wishes to crucify an innocent Man, but now this is Pilate’s final moment of revenge. He also knew that the Jews were a subject people without a king. And anyone who dared to be king and challenged Caesar would die, according to Roman law. Perhaps, Pilate was not aware that he was telling the truth about Christ and his inscription was correct. Although Christ was not ‘the king of the Jews in an earthly and political sense at that moment in time, He was nevertheless the Messiah-King of Israel-the Head of the everlasting Kingdom. Certainly, He will be in the millennial kingdom. When He first came He was our Redeeming King who reigns in the hearts of His redeemed people. When He comes again, He will be the reigning King of kings and Lord of lords. (Revelation 19:1-ff.). Is He the King and Lord of your life? Let him be-it’s all by grace and by grace alone through faith alone.

11.01.2022 Title: Peace on Earth Matthew 2:1-18 By Pastor Norman Mangohig

11.01.2022 Blessings for Today 23/11/20 Man was given an awesome gift of ‘choice.’ God said to Adam and Eve, don’t eat but they did eat. They disobeyed and the consequences of that choice are still felt today. I used to teach a topic Choices and Consequences in Biblical perspectives, in the Christian College. It was a good topic especially for students thinking about career, marriage, travel etc. People say, We are free to make our choices, it’s a free country. But remember, you ...are not free to make choices with regards to the consequences of your choices. The consequences are in the hands of God, not yours. God’s sovereignty is compatible to our human responsibility. They are parallel ideas and truths. For example to be born again (our salvation ) is solely the work of God, not by our good works (See John 3:1-10). But we have the responsibility to respond: to believe in order to receive eternal life, or to reject the offer and be condemned (John 3:11-21). Some sceptics ask: If God is sovereign, why do we experience these human sufferings, such as death, cyclones, earthquake, sickness, famine (though sometimes it is due to greed and politics)? Social scientists call them ‘natural disasters.’ Some theologians call them ‘natural evil.’ There is also what theologians call ‘moral evil’ using the Bible as a frame of reference and our human conscience. There are plenty of verses that speak of God’s sovereignty over everything and the forces of nature. But God made the earth by his power; he founded the world by his wisdom and stretched out the heavens by his understanding. When he thunders, the waters in the heavens roar; he makes clouds rise from the ends of the earth. He sends lightning with the rain and brings out the wind from his storehouses. (Jer.10:12-13) There are times God intervenes, for instance Gen.20:1-18, God exercised control over Abimelech’s decision and restrained him from committing sin with Sarah. Some may argue that God ‘violates this freedom of choice.’ But in this case, God chooses to intervene. It is clear that there is what we call God’s sovereignty and human’s responsibility in the Scriptures. We are admonished to obey God’s word. When we obey there are blessings, when we disobey there may be bad consequences. We can ‘chose’ but we have no control in the consequences of our choosing. That is in the hands of God. Therefore, whether choosing a career, a life partner, etc be discerning and acknowledge your Creator. Proverbs 3:5-6 is a great promise: Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. Trust Him, His grace is sufficient! Sent from my iPad

10.01.2022 Cross of Christ Part 10 Mother Salome - What does the Cross mean to you? Matthew 20:20-28 By Pastor Norman Mangohig

10.01.2022 Blessings for Today 30/9/20. Reading Matt.4:1-11. Let us look at the second and third temptation today. Point of attack No.2. Then the Devil took him to Jerusalem and set Him on the pinnacle of the temple. The point of attack, If you are the Son (just like on the cross), throw yourself down. For it is written (Satan used Scriptures too), ‘He shall give His angels charge over you and in their hands they shall bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone.’ In our d...aily language, Satan was saying like this: if you are quoting Scriptures against me, let us see if your Father’s word cannot be broken. All you have to do is jump and if the word of God is really true, his angels will save you. You have nothing to worry about. Jesus Counter Attack. Again Jesus used the Scriptures, You shall not tempt the Lord your God.’ (Quoted in Deut. 6:16). Jesus did not agree with Satan’s suggestion that He should jump off the Temple. If He did He was testing the Father. But He did not have to do that. He knew that the angels had charge over Him. He did not need to see physical evidence to believe the Word of God. Faith to the Word of God is essential in facing temptation. Point of Attack No 3. Satan took up Jesus to a high mountain and showed Him all the kingdoms of this world and then said: All these things I will give you if you will fall down and worship me. The Devil also offered Jesus the attraction of political power and glory the world can offer. All you have to do is bow down and worship me. That is not too big to ask. No one will see us (no CCTV, Paparazzi) here, only the two of us here in the wilderness; just do it once in your life. If you do that you will inherit a world without suffering, without humiliation, without pain, without crucifixion. (Paraphrase, mine) Jesus Counter Attack. I guess by this time Jesus had enough and said Matt. 4:10 Away with you, Satan! For it is written You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve. (quoted Deut.6:13). These three temptation were all about the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. On the cross Jesus destroyed the power of sin. Three times the arrows were shot at Jesus. Three times the assault came, testing the trust worthiness of the Word of God. Jesus refused to yield to temptation. He used the Word of God as His weapon. Jesus drove away Satan from the wilderness. In times of temptations and testing's in our lives use the Word of God. It is good to know where they are in the Bible, if possible memorise them. So that you have the gospel gun ready to shoot the Devil in times of spiritual warfare. Trust the word of God, Jesus did it. The Psalmist says, Your word I have hidden in my heart that I might not sin against you. (Psalm 119:11). Obey His Word, because His grace is sufficient for you.

08.01.2022 Multicultural Christian Fellowship Australia morning service 25-04-2021 Come Back New Text: Luke 24:13-35 Pastor Cesar Mangohig

08.01.2022 Blessings for Today 24/1/21. Read Psalm 37:1-8. How is your prayer life? God answers prayer. Do you believe that? But suppose your mind is not very clean today, will He answer your prayer? Some people say: God will answer my prayer because I visited someone in the hospital, I had my morning devotion, I visited a lonely person, I went to church etc. Do you need 10/10 or less in your performance in order for God to answer your prayer? Some people have to memorise something (...like a rosary, novena etc) in order that their prayers are answered. By the grace of God (all by grace) God answers your prayer, only because, (and only because) of Jesus Christ. He who is full of grace and truth, who is the personification, embodiment of all grace and truth had already bought that answer to your prayer 2000 years at the cross of Calvary. God answers that prayer on the basis of His grace. Not because of merits and demerits. Not because of your good performance. But someone may argue: Pastor, sin hinders our prayer. True, but the only thing to do is not perform Christian acts to gain points, but to humble yourself and confess. Realising that forgiveness and cleansing of your heart is an act of God’s grace. Jesus did not only purchase our salvation, but also bought every blessing and every answered prayer you will ever receive. To me this is a very liberating thought. The work is all done for you by the merit of another Person, Jesus Christ. But our problem is-we are afraid to tell ourselves that we don’t have to work anymore. We are afraid that we might go slack in our Christian life and Christian duties. But I believe that the heart of the problem is thiswe don’t really believe that we were (are) totally bankrupt spiritually. Let us be reminded, that having come into the kingdom of God by the merit of Another (Jesus Christ), let us not try to pay our debt by way of performance. Because if we still try to pay, we have not declared total bankruptcy. The bad consequences are discouragement frustration, hurts and anger. Why do we get angry? Because of frustration! The Bible says we are totally bankrupt. All have sinned and come short of the glory of God (Rom.3:23). We have to accept total bankruptcy. We are His and He is ours by grace alone. And everything we do is the working of His grace in us and through us. I hope this will challenge your perspective of life, Christian service, and about prayer life. May there be a change because of His grace and the understanding of this truth. It is by His grace not your performance. All by grace and grace alone! (To be continued).

07.01.2022 Blessings for Today 24/12/20. Undergirding all the activities we see around us at this time, is the quiet confidence that God has indeed invaded our lives. Not only did he enter the human race at that first Christmas, but He also entered our own piece of history. The birth of Jesus provided the rebirth of our soul. We became a new creation in Christ. Yet, for some at Christmas, joy is absent. It is but a hollow day instead of a holiday. Covid 19 has affected some lives. The ...‘good tidings of great joy’ are not real for them. Missing from their lives, is the pleasant assurance that life has meaning. They are lost in the artificial whirlwind of Christmas. The decorating, baking, gift buying, and other activities of Christmas are but one more hassle in their already gloomy lives. During this season believers light the ‘candle of joy’, because we believe people can indeed be freed from the dullness and boredom of life. The birth of Jesus provides the joy of abundant living. Matt.1:21-23 And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name JESUS, for He will save His people from their sins. So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying: 23 Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel, which is translated, God with us. Luke 2:10-11, Then the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be for all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Saviour, who is Christ the Lord.’ God the Son entered our world, not to the sounds of trumpets to welcome a new king or a coronation of a new king. He came in one Silent Night on the Judean hills, he entered our world through a stable, barely 20 kilometres from the capital Jerusalem. The angels sang joyfully the first Christmas songs; Luke 2:13-14 says, And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men! By the grace of God, because we have received salvation so rich and free, we can also experience and sing Glory to God in the highest Joy to the world, Silent night, Hark the Herald etc. Have a joyful Christmas. Remember: all by grace and by grace alone.

07.01.2022 Text: Ecclesiastes 6:7-12 Rev Norman Mangohig

05.01.2022 Blessings for Today 26/9/20. Reading Matthew 4:1-11. Sinning was not practiced before Adam and Eve were tempted. During Jesus’ time on earth temptation and sin were rampant everywhere. Is that significant to consider? Well, we knew for a fact that in spite of our intention to be righteous, it seems difficult because everyone around us sins. Our mindset tells us that sin is not a problem, because everyone sins anyway. (He did it, everyone is doing it - are some of our excuse...s). Jesus had to do something about this sin problem. He had to act against the common practice of every person while He was undergoing these temptations. He had to fight for us! Even up to the cross of Calvary. Let us discover how these temptations developed. After 40 days and nights Satan approached Jesus and he was really starving at this time. Let us consider one of these three temptations today. Point of attack No.1 if you are the Son of God, command this stone to become bread. The Devil tried very strongly to tempt Jesus, to see the influence of a miraculous appeal to the hungry masses, and above all to Himself because He was really very hungry. As though the Devil was saying If you are the Son of God, why are you starving here in the desert. You have the power to satisfy your hunger, don’t you? Now before Jesus went into the wilderness, he was baptised by John and the Spirit descended upon Him and He and others heard the words of His Father from heaven, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. The Father declared publicly that Jesus is the Son of God. But the Serpent came to Jesus in the wilderness and challenged the very affirmation the Father made. Jesus Counter Attack: Jesus used the Word of God in Deut. 8:3 to counter attack, Man shall not live by rice (mine for emphasis) alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. Jesus did not defend His identity as the Son of God. He merely quoted the Word of God. Obedience to the will of the Father is more important than satisfying His hunger. He was willing to die of starvation rather than deny the truthfulness of His Father’s Word. We too should be challenged to be obedient children of our heavenly Father. Obedience to our Heavenly Father’s will based upon the written Word of God is one of the secrets of victory. Remember that Jesus defeated the enemy on the cross, and proved it by His resurrection. We can be victorious too, because by His grace we are indwelt by His Spirit. Paul says in 1 Cor.10:13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it. God is faithful and He will make a way of escape. All by grace alone. (to be continued).

03.01.2022 Blessings for Today 26/12/20. Joseph’s agony and joy. The news Mary had given him had brought many responses, but none of them could be described as ‘joy. He was deeply disturbed. He loved Mary and was betrothed to marry her. Betrothal was more binding than a simple engagement; it required divorce action to terminate it. But Joseph was not a callous man. 03.01.2022 The Cross of Christ; Part 7 Power and Salvation Luke 23:39-43; Isaiah 53:1-12 By Pastor Norman Mangohig

02.01.2022 Blessings for Today 21/1/21 Read 2Cor.5:12-19. Verse 17 says we are now a new creation in Christ. When we become Christians, we get rid of some bad habits and start to develop new Christian ones: go to church, give offering, bible studies, youth group, visit lonely people etc, and we feel good about ourselves. When I was a new Christian and perhaps others as well, we think that these Christian activities are like paying your debts to God. I came out of my spiritual bankruptc...y and then started paying. In order to do what? To please Him? Then I began to doubt about my salvation. I was doing my best as a Christian, but I failed, I felt guilty. Then gradually out of frustration, I was falling short of my spirituality. I was surrounded by non-Christians friends, when they swore, I swore too, though not often. I was no different from them. Why? First, because we are legalistic by nature. We think so much of what we can do, to progress in our Christian life. We want to perform in order to earn God’s special blessing. An example of this was Peter: After listening to Jesus’s conversation with the rich young ruler (Luke 18:18-29), Peter said to Jesus, We have left everything to follow you. What then will there be for us? They had left their fishing business etc. Peter had already added up his merits points, and he wanted to know in advance how much reward he would have. Second reason, Our Christian culture reinforces this. Those of us who work with missionaries and were converted through mission work may have this attitude. Let me explain. Once we became Christians, we were told to attend church services, give our offering, attend discipleship programs, SS, camps etc. These are good, but be wise and careful. We need to be careful, that we are not doing these different Christian activities, to gain some merit points 10/10; because if we do, we are assuming that our performance in these areas earns God’s blessing for our lives. The right thing to do and to realise is that we do these things (Christian services), because God’s grace is working in us. We offer our services, resources, our will, because it is God’s grace working within. What do I mean? It means that His grace is sufficient enough to work in our life (his undeserving love and mercy, which I don’t really deserve, even a single and tiny bit) ---is more than enough working in my heart to motivate me to utter praise and thanksgiving, and to render my services. You see everything is by grace, legalism demands, but grace gives. Legalism is a burden, but grace is freedom to serve with joy. All by grace and by grace alone. (To be continued)
