21.01.2022 Happy National Nutrition Week! Did you know that as you age you need more protein? It is recommended that adults over 70 years of age should have approximately 25% more protein than adults under 70 years. In fact, it’s not just protein requirements that increase with age, vitamin D and calcium needs are also higher.

15.01.2022 49 years ago last Sunday, Nambour Meals on Wheels had their first delivery. The cost of the meal was 40 cents and there were 26 Clients. On Friday, Clients were treated to a slice of chocolate cake to celebrate this milestone.... Chef Troy did us proud with his three layer cake complete with mock cream layers and chocolate icing all round. In fact, he made two, so all Clients and Volunteers didn’t miss out. Long serving Volunteer and Committee member Jessie and local State Member Marty Hunt did the honours. Almost needed a ladder the cake was so tall. Congratulations Nambour Meals on Wheels and thank you to the entire team who've made this possible!

14.01.2022 Happy National Nutrition Week! If your appetite is not as good as it used to be or you struggle to prepare meals, it can be difficult to get enough nutrients to remain healthy and independent in your own home. The good news is that Meals on Wheels provides well-portioned meals to meet 1/3 of your daily nutritional needs. This means that you don’t have to worry about choosing foods or ready-made meals that have the nutrients that are most important for you.

05.01.2022 Human connection has never been more important and we recognise this especially on Social Inclusion Week (21-29 November). Every day, Meals on Wheels services ...across the country provide front-line, early intervention, preventing social isolation in the 1 in 4 people who live alone. Often when we get older our social connections reduce and at Meals on Wheels we know how important it is to stay connected to those around you. Through volunteering opportunities, we also enable Australians to continue remaining connected and engaged with their communities. Our crucial role in promoting social inclusion is just another way we are #morethanjustameal
