24.01.2022 See below note regarding Junior Presentation Hello Everyone, Following from Sundays email, we are writing to inform you that we have now decided to INDEFINITELY POSTPONE our Junior Presentation Night originally scheduled for this coming Sunday.... We do so with considerable disappointment but are confident that this is the correct decision based on latest available information and advice. All things going well, we hope to gather to present medallions and trophies prior to next season. We also would like to thank the many people who have contributed so much over the season. In particular our thanks to all of the junior managers - Josh Fisher, Eddy McGarry, Chris Cartwright, Jason OSullivan, Michael Arnott and Travis Price. Special thanks to Michael Arnott for his overall contribution across Tuesday nights, Wednesday nights and Saturday mornings. And to Meagan Gregory for doing such a great job organizing the clothing. Our boys never looked better. Our thanks to all of the boys for their efforts and to the fantastic support provided by parents. We wish everyone the very best for what will no doubt be a difficult and testing period and look forward to seeing all fit and well in the not too distant future. 24.01.2022 We are extremely happy to announce that Dane Heverin has accepted the role of captain for season 2020/21. Dane made his 1st XI debut for the Tigers as a 14 year old in 2012/13 before moving to Premier club, Dandenong. Returning to the pit midway through last season, he settled back in like hed never left. While still a young man, his maturity and knowledge of the game will hold him in good stead in his next challenge. Although this is Danes moment, it wouldnt be right t...o not mention the outstanding contribution of outgoing captain Simon Cormie. In 4 years at the helm, he has taken the club to three finals series and although the big one has eluded him, he has put the Tigers back on the map as one of the top teams in the comp. Leading always by example, Simon has nearly amassed 2000 runs in his time at the club and a few "burgled" poles. Simon will stay on at Tigerland and will be even greedier for runs in 20/21. Awesome news to announce our new skipper and we wish him all the best in his new role. Go Tigers

22.01.2022 Hi Everyone Update on Junior & Master Blast as promised. I can confirm that Saturday morning Master Blast will commence on the 30th Jan, 2021 with round robin matches at Parkdale. We are looking at 2-3 teams representing Mentone, very exciting. With that in mind, we are going to run clinics for the next four weeks in the leadup to Xmas for all Junior Blast and Master Blast kids on Saturday mornings, starting this Saturday 28th November, the 5th December, 12th and 19th. ... 9am start at Mentone reserve will run for an hour each week. 18.01.2022 6 Tiger wins across the weekend! Congratulations to the Firsts, Fourths, U14B, U14C, U12 Premier South and U12C on brilliant wins The Firsts had an excellent win over Aspendale at home. Batting first, we posted 191 with Dane Heverin (63) and Simon Cormie (41) amongst the runs. Then, the bowlers restricted Aspendale to 9/128 when the rain came. Matt Williams (4/25), Robert Tunbridge (2/26) and Chris Smyth (2/4) bowled superbly. The Seconds had a tough loss away at Parkdale.... We bowled well and the wickets were shared around as Parkdale finished 9/142. But, we were all out for 71 in reply. The Thirds also had a tough day against Beaumaris. Beaumaris posted 5/247 batting first, but Winston Do (2/35) bowled very well in his first senior game. But, we were all out for 87 in response. The Fourths moved to top of the ladder with a big win over Bentleigh (Blue). Batting first, we scored 212 with Michael Williams (56no) and Jack Pearce (51) batting well. Then, we bowled them out for 75 with every bowler taking a wicket. The U16s had a tough loss against Hampton. Hampton made 5/134 and our boys made 4/51. U14B had an excellent win against East Sandringham. We made 7/138 with Flynn Walker (31), Oliver Donat (26) and Noah McColough (20no) amongst the runs. The bowlers restricted East Sandringham to 6/64 with Ethan Massouras (2/6) bowling very well. U14C had a great win against Bonbeach YCW. We made 1/91 with the bat, the runs were shared around, and we bowled Bonbeach YCW out for 77, with Thomas Curran (3/3) and Matthew Bergin (2/7) bowling superbly. U12 Premier South had an excellent win over East Sandringham. We made 6/55, sharing the runs around, and bowled East Sandringham out for 38. Jack Williams (2/7) and Zac Worsnop (2/8) were excellent with the ball. U12C also had a great win over Aspendale. We made 5/107 with the bat and Kaden Bunyon (22no), Ethan Massouras (17no) and Luca Jackson (16no) amongst the runs. The bowlers restricted Aspendale to 7/96 with Billy O'Sullivan (2/15) and Benjamin Olds (2/10) bowling very well. Thank you to everyone who came along to support all our junior and senior teams on the weekend!

18.01.2022 Update on Cricket 20/21 from the committee no date (training/playing) yet but the league and committee will get this going as soon as possible. The government and Cricket Vic. are in discussion, we will pass this on as soon as we know. new nets are fantastic. Once allowed, get down there with a mate and roll the arm over. A full length preseason wont be allowed for in announcing start date. Those that start early will be miles ahead. ... centre square is in incredible shape. Mentone will have the best decks in CSB again. Great opportunity for centre wicket and practice matches in the pre-season. if you are struggling with lockdown remember you have a whole club that cares for you and has your back. We have a great network of people at the club who would be happy to chat, listen, or help in anyway. Before you know it we will be out there enjoying the game we love, competing hard and enjoying each others company.

16.01.2022 PLAYERS OF THE ROUND - T20 QFDane Heverin led Mentone Cricket Club to a massive T20 Quarter Final victory over Hampton on Tuesday night with his half century, while Bentleigh Cricket Clubs Sam Johnson took the nights best bowling figures with 4/14.

16.01.2022 Hi everyone, We held our AGM via zoom on Wednesday and had a very positive turnout. Thankyou to everyone who attended. We have had some new and old faces join the committee and volunteer for some of the essential roles of running a successful cricket club. We have a few roles still to fill, please get in contact with any of the committee if you are interested. Sharing a role would be fine, any help is appreciated.... We are still seeking Sponsorship Team New Facility Manager Help with COVID compliance team One special mention. Great to have Mick Eden on board as our Past Players Social Liaison. Once we can use the new rooms some great functions will be held.

15.01.2022 An update on Finals for our Teams: Congrats to our Under 14B team won their Semi Final last week and play in the grand final this Friday 6th March and 13th March from 430pm at Le Page Park. Well done to our Under 14C team who played in the Semi Final and went down narrowly to St Brigids. ... The First XI have qualified for finals and will host a semi final against Aspendale at Mentone reserve this Saturday & Sunday from 1230pm. Im sure both the Under 14s and Firsts would appreciate your support over the weekend.

13.01.2022 We have had some promising news from the CSB. They are in talks with government and are planning to start games 14th November 2020. Like anything at the moment this is a guide and things can always change. the plan is for 14 one day games and finals as mentioned before. NO sharing gear,must have your own CLADS or black pads. Also on gear, HELMETS are COMPULSORY for all batters this year. ... Time to start focusing on what you want to get out of the season, and how hard you need to practise and train your body to get there

The shield will be competed for annually to recognise the huge contribution Peakey has made to both clubs. Great to start the year off with a good win

05.01.2022 Round 2 for the seniors and Round 1 for the juniors saw 6 Tigers wins! The Firsts put in a great bowling and fielding performance, with all 6 bowlers taking wickets, to restrict Mordialloc to 7/143. Then, a 108 run partnership between Dane Heverin (65) and Blake Thompson (53no) was the key to the run chase, as we passed the target with nearly 6 overs to spare. The Seconds fell 40 runs short chasing 194 against Mordialloc. Cal Fryer (43), Jason Gumbleton (26) and Joe O'Brie...n (23) started the chase well, but a collapse of 9 for 64 ultimately did the damage. The Thirds were on the wrong side of a low scoring match at Bonbeach. All the bowlers claimed a wicket, as Paul O'Brien (3/12), Nathan Eva (3/20) and Harry Fraser (2/27) led the way. But, we were all out 71 in response. The Fourths had a great win against Glen Iris posting 3/209 with Jason O'Sullivan (54no), John Bamfield (52no) and Al Jones (50no) all making 50 retired. Then, Jack Pearce (4/16) was superb with the ball as Glen Iris were kept to 8/156. The U16s had a tough loss against Beaumaris to start the season, but Harry Fraser (25no) and Tom Gregory (4/20) put in great performances! Both U14s had wins! U14B beat Kingston Heath/Chelsea with Noah McColough (27no) top scoring and the wickets were shared around. While, U14C had a thrilling one run win over Parkdale! Our 3 U12 teams had 2 wins and a very close loss. U12 Premier South defeated St Brigid's/St Louis with Lenny Wilkins (20no) top scoring, while the bowlers shared the wickets. U12C lost to Le Page Park by only 2 runs and the U12 Rookies had a good win over Dingley.

02.01.2022 Hampton Cricket Club skipper Dan Forbes did it all on Saturday, while a serious injury compounded Parkdale Cricket Clubs day in Cricket Southern Bayside. And stunning performances by Beaumaris Cricket Club, South Caulfield Cricket Club, Carnegie Cricket Club and Mentone Cricket Club.

02.01.2022 Congrats to Dane Heverin who scored 124no yesterday in our First XI total of 9/250 against Bayside. This was Danes second century for Mentone, and takes his run tally to 506 this season. Today, Dane along with First XI skipper Simon Cormie, represent CSB against SECA in the Battle of Bayside representative game. Eddy McGarry is playing in the Under 21 match, and we are very proud as a club to have all 3 representing us and the League. The match is played at Hurlingham Park,... Brighton. Also today, our 4th XI host Parkdale, at Mentone from 1230. Best of luck to the guys today.
