25.01.2022 The architectural style of this hotel is interesting. The building addresses the corner in a neat way. The faade and facias are taken around the corner as if the elevation is bent around it. On the corner there is a door on the ground floor and windows on the floors above. The curve of the wall was carried into both the doors and windows. The windows and the doors themselves are all built as arcs on plan with the same radial centre as the wall. It is a neat piece of joinery in scale and form. A lot of these buildings have gone but the Lord Nelson stands as a proud example of this intelligent architectural form. Ref Professor J M Freeland

19.01.2022 St Peters...A church now surrounded by busy roads and expressway links but yet evoking the Late Colonial Period. The Church was built from non-kiln burnt bricks made by Henry Knight, ironbark internal columns, plaster vaulted ceiling and imported stained glass windows from the UK. The churchs plan was 90 feet by 35 feet and fronted the main road the Princes Highway. The church was consecrated on 26 December 1840.

15.01.2022 St Marks, Darling Point It was built between 1848 and 1880 and was designed by Colonial Architect Edmund Blacket, in an early Victorian Rustic Gothic Revival style with nave, chancel, vestries, organ chamber, tower and spire; made from Hawkesbury Sandstone with hardwood shingles on the roof. The church was completed in 1854. Another example of fine Early Victorian Period work.
