13.01.2022 Millmerran Aquatic Centre will reopen on 11 November 2020, following a decision by Toowoomba Regional Council (TRC) to postpone a major upgrade to the facility. TRC Environment and Community Committee Chair Councillor James O’Shea said the community would be able to enjoy a summer of swimming. Council will be operating the facility under a COVID Safe Plan, matching other aquatic facilities in the Region, Cr O’Shea said.... For the first two weeks, the pool would be open from Wednesday to Sunday afternoons with a full seven-day service resuming from Saturday 28 November. To prepare for the reopening Council has completed some temporary work on the pool shell as well as pump and filter servicing in preparation for the major refurbishment. Cr O’Shea said that combined with the opening Council would also be kicking off community consultation about the Aquatic Centre upgrade. We know the current facility was the best type for the community at that time. We need to make sure we get it right for this generation and future generations, Cr O’Shea said. Council wants to find out from the community what the next 60 years look like for the facility. Is the best option a 50-metre outdoor pool, or an indoor 25-metre pool, perhaps a water park? Let us know what you think. You can have your say until Friday 11 December through Council’s Your Say website or look out for a postcard in your mailbox in the coming weeks. 06.01.2022 McLean Care Strengthening COVID-19 Response Plans Our current infection control practices, along with ensuring compliance with social distancing and controlled visitor management within our residential services have been invaluable in keeping our residents, staff and communities safe. However, due to the current devastating impacts on aged care in Victoria and increased number of cases in New South Wales and Queensland, McLean Care has increased our level of infection contr...ol measures in place as of Monday 3rd August. This compliments our thorough screening of all staff and visitors to now include wearing masks by anyone entering our facilities, and for our staff who are providing care to our residents and clients. McLean Care CEO, Sue Thomson said, Due to the developing COVID-19 situation in South East Queensland, we have moved to reduce face to face visits to our Queensland facilities, Yallambee Millmerran and CWA House Oakey. This has been done with the support of residents, families, the local community and Queensland State Government and we continue to support our residents and their families to maintain contact in other ways during this time. We are witnessing the catastrophic outcomes for older people in Victoria and our residents, clients and our communities deserve nothing less than everything we can possibly do to protect them. We will not hesitate to mirror this action, in consultation with residents and families across our NSW facilities in Inverell, Guyra and Gunnedah if there are any COVID-19 cases in or close to our local communities. These are unprecedented times and we would like to thank everyone for their continued cooperation, respect and understanding of the changes and restrictions we have all experienced. We are living in a totally different world and the way we live our lives is also different. I am extremely proud of our people and their co-operation as they prioritise the care of our residents and clients above all else. McLean Care continues to have no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in any of our facilities throughout New South Wales and Queensland due to the careful management and strict adherence of our screening procedures of staff and visitors. This pandemic is far from over and the recent outbreaks in Victoria and parts of NSW and QLD confirm the importance of our vigilance and unwavering stance in keeping our residence, clients, staff and communities safe.

01.01.2022 The Millmerran Australian Camp Oven Festival Committee has published the following announcement: "It is with much sadness, that we announce the cancellation of ...our 2020 event. An event of our size requires significant forward planning. With border restrictions still in place and no approvals yet for holding large-scale events, we do not believe that we will have adequate lead time to deliver this years event to our usual scale and standard. We are understandably devastated. The Festival is a major economic driver for our region that has already struggled with the challenges of both drought and bush fires. We encourage the many of you who had planned to visit us in October to still include Millmerran in your future travel plans. South East Queensland is a wonderful region to explore and we will be ready to welcome visitors with open arms! To those of you that have shared such positive sentiments, memories and well wishes with us over the past few weeks, we are extremely grateful. Our event has fostered a loyal following over the years and we love the friendship and comradery that we all share. Our Festival is in so many ways a celebration of the Australian spirit, both past and present. How we handle this little bump in the road is testimony to that so while we might be down, we most certainly arent defeated! We are now exploring whether it will be possible to hold our event in 2021 and hope to make an announcement on this shortly. To keep across future announcements regarding the Festival, please be sure to follow our Facebook page www.facebook.com/australiancampovenfestival Thank you again for your support and wishing you all the best in 2020."
