22.01.2022 A few of my favourite books ... The first one, Meditation: an in-depth guide, was written by Ian Gawler and Paul Bedson of the Gawler Foundation / Yarra Valley Living Centre. Paul and his wife Maia Bedson ran the retreats and teacher training courses where I learnt about Mindfulness Based Stillness Meditation. Every time I open this book I find more to understand and absorb. It's a wonderful resource! Tuesday's meditation session will run as usual this evening at 6 pm. Come r...est and calm yourself after the hectic activity of the long weekend. Sessions cost $15 per person and $10 for students/concession card holders. Cash payment at the door is fine, or book online with Eventbrite. Hope to see you there. Tracey See more

06.01.2022 Mindfulness Mythbusters In Mindfulness Meditation we continually choose to be present, by paying attention to our here-and-now experience with interest, openness and receptivity, acceptance, patience, kindness, receptivity and perseverance. Our attention shifts from thinking, judging, analysing and evaluating to observing, sensing, being open and available.... Mindfulness Meditation is NOT: Transcending or rising above emotions to become emotionless. It does help us gain greater awareness and understanding of our emotions, and allows us to choose how to deal with them without being overwhelmed Blocking out thoughts. For most of us this is impossible! Our thinking mind is always busy, yet during Meditation we choose to notice thoughts without being drawn into pursuing them. We bring our attention back to the present moment A body scan or relaxation. Body scans help us become aware of our body’s sensations, and the relaxation they provide is a helpful preparation for meditation. Meditation takes us into deeper states of awareness. Selfish. Mindfulness Meditation helps us to be a better version of ourselves; we become more open and available for others. Join us Tuesday evening as we discover how Mindfulness Meditation helps

05.01.2022 Regular meditation practice requires personal discipline and a commitment to your own well-being. It helps if you see this as a personal kindness to yourself, rather than a restriction or a chore. When your attention is distracted by thoughts and your mind wanders, simply bring your attention back to your present moment experience with kindness and patience. Gently persevere! Keep bringing your attention back to what you can sense and observe; sounds, body sensations, breathing. With practice you will learn to let distracting thoughts come and go without being caught up in them, and direct your attention to the things you want in life. Where you put your attention, your energy will follow.

02.01.2022 Hello everyone, I hope you are taking good care of yourselves and your families in this difficult and uncertain time. Tonight's Mindfulness Meditation session will run as usual from 6 to 7 pm. There is plenty of space at our lovely venue for people to spread out if they wish, and proper hygiene will be observed. Many of us, myself included, are feeling anxious and stressed due to the coronavirus pandemic and the impact it is having on our community. Tonight we will focus our energy to remain calm and navigate our way safely through each moment as it comes. Kind thoughts to you all, Tracey
