The event, the first of its kind in Western Australia, will see 1,200 international students and their families visit Perth's famous island for the day.... Do you want to impr...ove your Public Speaking skills? If yes! Join our Public Speaking Workshops! Where: Student hub - Guild Building When: Every Wednesday (from 11.30 to 12.25 & starting on the 15th of August) Great! let's give a little bit of background: We understood that many International students, especially coming from non-English speaking backgrounds, lack of confidence and find it hard to integrate the University life. The goal of this project is to help International Students gain more confidence and break the language barrier. Its authenticity relies on its student-led approach, supposed to lower the barriers and ease the learning experience of those students. We truly believe that working on verbal communication is the key to enhancement of students confidence. Therefore, our project consists of teaching international students the art of Public Speaking that will ultimately develop their self-confidence. 13.01.2022 To my fellow international students: It troubles me reading the news on how International Students having to make our way home. We do not want you to leave and we will do everything in our power to help you in this hard time. I understand that many of us are affected by COVID-19 and lost our part-time jobs. Our family members back home may have lost their jobs or even face a salary reduction from this pandemic. This has led to many of us facing hardship. It will be eve...n harder being away from our loved ones at this point in time. We need to support each other and overcome these hardships. Lets stand together and be there for each another. Financial hardship and international school fees have been the topics of debate recently. The Council of International Students Australia (CISA), National Union of Students (NUS) and Council of Australia Postgrad Associations (CAPA) have outlined their demands to the Government. Those within the Murdoch Guild have personally been strongly advocating both State and Federal Members of Parliament to request government help for international students. We as international students have greatly contributed to the economy and we need support in times like this. Murdoch University has put in a financial relief package for all students affected by COVID-19. The Study Support Fund and Extraordinary Support Fund will be made available to students who are not supported by Centrelink. We have a Technology Bursary, IT Equipment and Food Vouchers for students to tap onto during these times. Further details on how to apply for this will be announced shortly. These measures have been put in place to assist students and we are all there for you. We are in the process of requesting that the University lowers the fees for International Students next semester. At the very least we are hoping for Hardship Scholarships for those who are struggling the most because of COVID-19 to reduce the cost of their degree. We will be reaching out to various embassies for International Students and if you wish to contact your embassy, do message me so that we can work on it with you. The theme of this competition is HOME. Students have to interpret the meaning of HOME in their hearts through their own perspective via mobile. 1st Prize: $1000, Award certificate and exquisite gift.... 2nd Prize: $500, Award certificate and exquisite gift. 3rd Prize: $300, Award certificate and exquisite gift. *Photos should be submitted in digital format, 2-5mb and JPEG format.
