18.01.2022 The roof repairs are now complete. Our clubrooms will be open for tomorrow's usual session! Thank you to all members that have helped to raise funds for the long awaited repairs!

17.01.2022 Due to changes in Covid Safe requirements, the club has updated it’s procedures. You no longer need to book to attend sessions. You no longer need to wear a face mask. Classes will be restarting and new members are welcome once again. You will still need to sign in, use the QR code and note down your temperature. We also ask you to take reasonable precautions with personal safety by washing your hands, social distancing and sanitising surfaces and equipment after use.... We look forward to see all our members back in our club rooms once more.

08.01.2022 Ahem! Ahem! (Is this thing on?) yes! Hello! I have a very exciting announcement! Who’s ready for some fun? Who wants to win a Crystal World voucher?! That’s ...right, folks: we will be (in VERY short order) starting challenges/contests again here on the Australian Lapidary Group page! We are so excited to bring this aspect back to the table, so to speak. Each contest will consist of a specific challenge and entry will be open to anyone who wishes to take a crack at it except the likes of me, because I am a staff member at Crystal World and thus do not get to compete.... I shall have to live vicariously through all the fabulous entries!! Stay tuned because the first challenge will be posted very soon! 08.01.2022 10 July - The year of the Virus Club Closure and Cancellation of GEMFAIR To all our Friends and Members of the Mordialloc Lapidary Club, Inc Unfortunately, I am unable to offer any good news about the opening up of the club at this time. This second wave of infections and subsequent second lock down of the Greater Melbourne area has halted any plans we had for a re-opening of our clubrooms. The club will remain closed for the foreseeable future.... That being said, we have also had to formally concede that this years GEMFAIR will be unable to proceed. Even if we are allowed to reopen in September, which is highly unlikely, we would have insufficient time to prepare adequately for GEMFAIR in October. This will be the first year in our clubs history that we do not have our yearly show and while we held out hope of it continuing for as long as we could, events have overtaken us and we have had to formally announce GEMFAIRs cancellation for 2020. The next event on our yearly calendar would then be our Annual General Meeting in November. We are continuing to prepare for this but it may have to be postponed to a later time depending on circumstances in November. 02.01.2022 Notice to all members In light of the recent changes to the Corona Virus Covid-19 Restrictions, the Committee has discussed the possibility of a limited re-opening of the clubrooms and discussed with the Duty Officers. It has been agreed that while we may have been able to overcome the limitations to the number of members attending a session, there are unfortunately many other conditions imposed by the Government which make a reopening unlikely at this time. I know this is a ...disappointment to many who hoped to get back into the clubrooms but we must comply with all regulations and we cannot take the chance of any member getting this disease while attending our clubrooms. We will, of course, revisit the matter as the situation and restrictions change. However the cleaning of all equipment, work surfaces, handles on cupboards, bathrooms etc. would take most of the duty officers time, especially on weeknights when the club is only open 2.5 hours. And due to Social Distancing teachers would be unable to get close enough to the students to be able to actually teach them. Best wishes for the continued good health of all Members.
