25.01.2022 Offering to fellow man is not always a matter of money. The RC Voula-Panorama (2470 RID) offered, on September 24, two wheelchairs to the children of Amymoni, an organization for children of special need. The wheelchairs were obtained from the collection of plastic lids.

24.01.2022 While this was publicised in an email several weeks ago some of you may have missed it. The movie is very timely after the death of Helen Reddy recently so please take advantage of the opportunity to see this movie and contribute to the Rotary Foundation.

21.01.2022 Footy Gates in September in partnership with the Southern Football League has finished again , an important part of our community service and fundraising activities each year. Many thanks to our hardworking members, volunteers and members of the RCofFH for braving the cold weather, mosquitoes, and at times grumpy patrons to make this another successful month. Yes we learnt how to download the Eventbrite App and scan hundreds of bar codes, apply wrist bands by the hundreds and keep smiling. Thankyou everyone.

21.01.2022 Kapunda Town Square, Friday 13th November from 10.00 am until 3.30 pm. The eradication of polio is one of Rotary International's longest standing and most signi...ficant efforts. Along with our partners, we have helped immunize more than 2.5 billion children against polio in 122 countries. We have reduced polio cases by 99.9 percent worldwide and we won't stop until we end the disease for good. To raise awareness and assist with ending Polio, the Rotary Club of Kapunda will be displaying the ute and a trailer which contains a functioning iron lung in the Kapunda Town Square on Friday 13th November from 10.00 am until 3.30 pm. Come and view the display, throw a $ in our bucket to support ending Polio in the world. What is the Iron Lung? Large polio epidemics caused panic every summer during the 1940s and 50s in industrialised countries including Australia. At that time, people with polio affecting the respiratory muscles were immobilized inside iron lungs huge metal cylinders that operated like a pair of bellows to regulate their breathing and keep them alive. Today, the iron lung has largely been replaced by the positive pressure ventilator; nevertheless, it is still in use in some countries. See more

16.01.2022 The Rotary Club of Coonabarabran have installed the first small street library near the front of Graces Uniforms building in Dalgarno Street across from Woolwor...ths. The library is stocked with books of all different genres. A selection of children and adult books are available for everyone to share the joy of reading. When finished the book just drop it back and grab another. No checking books in or out either. If you have a book that you think others would enjoy then feel free to pop it in the library. A special thanks to the Coonabarabran Men’s Shed for manufacturing the small library. See more

11.01.2022 STATIONERY ITEMS NEEDED We are really struggling to maintain stock levels of the majority of our regular stationery items. Whilst these items are relatively... low cost, they can add up for us when we need to purchase in bulk. We provide stationery packs in all of our backpacks because drawing and colouring provides vulnerable children in stressful situations with a simple, non-demanding activity that they can do on their own or with the people around them. We regularly receive feedback that these are the little extras in the backpacks that really bring a big smile to the kids faces as they've often never had these items of their own before. If you are able to help with any of these items, we would be very grateful. We've provided a few examples to help as well: Small and large pencil cases https://www.officeworks.com.au//studymate-name-pencil-case https://www.officeworks.com.au//studymate-twin-zip-name-pe Coloured pencils https://www.officeworks.com.au//keji-coloured-pencils-12-p Coloured Markers https://www.officeworks.com.au//keji-coloured-markers-12-p Erasers https://www.officeworks.com.au//studymate-greener-choice-e Highlighters Blue, black and red pens, Lead pencils Chalk Colouring books Please note all items must be new and we are unable to accept sharpeners or scissors - thank you. Here are a few different options of ways you can help. If you would like to purchase stock and drop off at one of our drop off points, you will find these on our website http://backpacks4sakids.org/drop-off-locations If you are unable to drop off, but would like to arrange delivery, our delivery address is: Backpacks 4 SA Kids 5/1421 Main North Road PARA HILLS WEST SA 5096 If you would rather donate funds for us to use for an order, you can do so here: https://backpacks-4-sa-kids-inc.giveeasy.org/general Thank you for helping us make a difference to kids who need us most. #DoingItForTheKids #DonationsNeeded #SACharity #Backpacks4SAKids #ChildrensCharity

02.01.2022 It was Immediate Past President Terry Brown's wish that in his Rotary year we contribute to play equipment suitable for disabled young and not so young people. Working with the City of Onkaparinga at the Wilfred Taylor Reserve Playscape, we funded a carousel which was included in the park. Our thanks to our Club members who worked tirelessly to raise the funds to make this possible. Pictured are PP Terry Brown with some of the Club members testing the equipment
