21.01.2022 ** How do I make my garden more nature friendly? ** NATUREWORKS GARDEN CARE are all about helping you beautify your garden as well as make it a haven for nature and wildlife! So, Here are a few simple ways to build a wildlife friendly garden... 1. Bird box and feeding. Birds are an important part of your garden's ecosystem, and creating bird boxes and putting out food will help them thrive. 2. Go native. One of the best ways to attract wildlife to your garden is to fill it with as many native plants as possible. 3. Make homes for wildlife. You can give nature an extra helping hand by providing some man-made shelter. From bird boxes to bug hotels to bee hives. 4. Add a water feature If you have the space, adding a natural water feature to your garden can make a real difference. A pond provides a home for amphibians and insects, as well as drinking and bathing water for birds and mammals. If you don’t have room for a whole pond, a bird bath is a good option, or even a shallow dish of water placed on the ground might be appreciated by wildlife. These are just a few of our tips if you need anymore great tips to help your garden grow or you would like some expert help give us a call today. 15.01.2022 ** How Create a Wildlife Backyard Garden in Warrandyte Vic ** Wildlife friendly gardens can bring you such joy and life into your garden and home, so here are Natureworks Garden Care top 5 tips to create your wildlife friendly backyard garden: 1. Plant native trees, ground cover and shrubs. Larger plants can be complemented by ground covers and grasses as dense undergrowth provides protection for small birds and reptiles.... 2. Choose plants like local eucalyptus and lemon scented gums that provide food for possums and flying-foxes in the form of nectar and pollen. 3. Place possum boxes in a safe high place in your backyard 4. Place a pond in a sheltered spot to provide water for birds and habitat for frogs 5. Apply mulch as this will decrease the need for water and provide feeding opportunities and nesting material for ground birds and small mammals. If you follow these tips your garden will be popping with life in no time! But if you need any assistance with your garden do not hesitate to give us a call to help you out! 07.01.2022 Would you like to spoil the birds in your garden? Research has found that plants native to Australia, such as Grevillea or Banksia, are preferred by many Australian birds over exotic plants, such as Camellia or Hibiscus. The native plants produce a much higher amount of nectar, which makes them more attractive to birds (http://www.sciencedirect.com//article/pii/S0006320704002411). However, these plants are also loved by very dominant bird species like the noisy miner, which can chase less aggressive or smaller birds out of their habitat. A mindful plant choice is therefore crucial to make your garden a paradise for a great diversity of birds. If youre interested, contact Wouter for a comprehensive wildlife assessment for your garden!

01.01.2022 Thanks to everyone who checked in with us at the Park Orchards market last Saturday! Lots of kids enjoyed doing puzzles, creating animal puppets and learning and sharing their knowledge about our local wildlife. Numerous people were interested in our gardens for wildlife service and had a chat with Wouter or a look into our gardens for wildlife report sample. Our indigenous plants were also very popular. We hope to provide our service to as many people as possible. Only if all of us do a little bit to make our gardens more wildlife- friendly, we can create a network of gardens that will become one big habitat for our native animals.
