18.01.2022 Such an important step forward in ending domestic and family violence and the means in which perpetrators abuse those in their lives.

17.01.2022 "Under the Fair Work Act (2009) it is legal for a person to be asked to undertake an unpaid trial to be evaluated for a position to determine their suitability for a job, but only for as long as needed for the person to demonstrate the skills required for the job." "That will be dependent on the nature and complexity of the work, but could range from an hour to one shift," a Fair Work Ombudsman spokesperson said." #KnowYourRights #wagetheft

15.01.2022 You are invited to attend the launch of the Place of Courage, a public artwork that has been installed in Rotary Park at Christies Beach this Friday 14 May at 1...0:30am This artwork aims to drive conversation and awareness about domestic violence, provide a safe space to education children about domestic violence and to reflect on and mourn women and children who have lost their lives through domestic violence. There are many of us who have worked together, lead by the incredible Helen Oxenham, to bring this artwork to life for sometime and we are all thrilled that it will come to fruition on Friday. 13.01.2022 Back in 2021! The Covid-19 restrictions in 2020 meant the group couldn't hold their annual exhibition to showcase the amazing rugs they'd collected but it did not stop them from distributing hundreds of rugs to those in need. Please go along and support them.

09.01.2022 Three deaths in one day and it isn't front page news? Women's Agenda here reports that: "Almost one in 10 Australian women in a relationship had experienced domestic violence during the coronavirus crisis. ... The research provides the most detailed information in the world about the prevalence and nature of domestic violence experienced by women during the COVID-19 pandemic. It found 4.6 per cent experienced physical or sexual violence from a partner or former cohabiting partner in the previous three months. Almost six per cent of women experienced coercive control and almost 12 per cent experienced emotionally abusive, harassing or controlling behaviour. Many women reported it was the first time their partner had been violent, while others said the violence was getting worse. For 33 per cent of these women, this was the first time they had experienced physical or sexual violence within their relationship. More than half (53%) of women who had experienced physical or sexual violence before February 2020 said the violence had become more frequent or severe since the start of the pandemic. One in three women (36.96%) who experienced physical or sexual violence or coercive control said that, on at least one occasion, they wanted to seek advice or support but could not because of safety reasons."
