Adam Martin "President" of the Tomakin Fishing Club has asked me to post this on our page to extend an invitation to all fishos to attend there Xmas party, the details are listed below it will no doubt be a great day as Adam and his crew run an awesome club . As most of you know our club has pretty much folded due unfortunate circumstances, so this is a great opportunity to meet the guys and gals from the Tomakin Fishing Club and maybe start fishing with them. We now have our own clubhouse upstairs above the Nelligen cafe thanks to Ricky Patman and also thanks to Mark Borg for getting our board up and weatherproof. 15.01.2022 BLUEFIN TELEGRAPH: Wide of Tuross Canyons there was a 4 way hook up and some boats had them on the cube late today. Heard of a couple 2 way hook ups but couldn...t keep them up on berley. Its looking to be a cracking day tomorrow weather wise and I know a lot of boats are heading out. You wont catch them on your lounge so get out and have a look. Bluefin and yellowfin are on the cards tomorrow. Over the shelf there are plenty of Albies and Stripeys also. Check out this Bluefin shot!! See more

13.01.2022 Enjoying fish and chips and watching feeding of the Queensland Groupers at Cooks Landing Kiosk in Cooktown this evening. The Queensland Grouper (or groper) is a protected species meaning the catching and possessing of the fish is strictly prohibited.

13.01.2022 Had a client fall ill so took advantage of the great weather and teased up a few sails for the fly. In all raised 5 including a double header, got 3 bites on f...ly and landed one. Also switched a fish onto a gar after missing the bite on fly. Made a quick vid of my efforts. Fly was a Salt Waterflyworkshop 8" spardean. See more

Mark Reid is going to be here demonstrating the latest Furuno Marine Electronics to help you get that fish of a life time. Club marine have donated a $250 insurance voucher for each store to give away. We will have many more giveaways on the night and some crazy specials that will never be repeated. 07.01.2022 Geelong Star Supertrawler Public Meeting It seems the pollies have finally caught on that we have issues with the Supertrawler the Geelong Star - funny how the ...thought of an election can now get them to focus on this issue. The ALP Candidate for Gilmore (Fiona Phillips) is holding a public meeting at Soldiers Club this Thursday 2 June at 3.30 for 4.00pm start at which she will be announcing her position on the Geelong Star. Most importantly she will have the Shadow Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry Mr Joel Fitzgibbon present so this looks promising. The Club has also sought the official position of the Liberal Party Candidate on the Supertrawler Geelong Star and if we get one it too will be posted. Please share this post so that everyone is aware of the meeting.

05.01.2022 What do fish do in flood events like that experienced along the NSW coastline this past weekend? Recent studies by DPI and UNSW have revealed some unexpected - ...and very interesting - behaviours among key recreational species like mulloway and whiting. The studies showed floods can drive changes in estuary fish dynamics. For example, the DPI/UNSW research used acoustic tags to show rain can increase distribution overlap between mulloway and whiting. Interestingly, mulloway tended to move into whiting habitat (ie, shallow sandy flats) after rain and switched from being active during the day to night. Whiting remained in shallow water and decreased their night-time activity, likely due to increased predation. This could go a long way towards explaining why mulloway tend to "come on the bite" following heavy rain. Given the recent deluge, it might be a good idea to upgrade the whiting gear in favour of mulloway tackle if youre planning on wetting a line over the next week or so ...
