25.01.2022 It really is all about balance. Encourage a child to be curious about the world around them, allow them to explore and discover as they wish and the rest will followiing willingly. #curiosity #selfdiscovery #nepeantutoring

25.01.2022 Nepean Tutoring began operating in February 2012 in conjunction with our support for children’s education in Cambodia. It is with great pride that I can introduce these two young people who will sit their year 12 exams in 3weeks. Good luck Siengly NooNa and Vandy Hai. You have broken the cycle of poverty in your family. #givingback #educationmatters #nepeantutoring

24.01.2022 Dropping by, with a smile, to show my gratitude to all our faithful clients. As an educational service building strong connections with our students and families has always a been a priority. It is this personalised approach to our work, over the past eight years, that sees families returning to Nepean Tutoring for assistance when needed. #nepeantutoring #connections #education #familysupport

24.01.2022 The 7/11 year was an evening of celebrations at the WWA ball where 150+ people gathered to celebrate their achievements for 2020. There were some great wins and others, who despite overnight declines in their businesses this year, still stepped out to support each other. As we ponder the approaching New Year - less 7 weeks away I would like to announce that Nepean Tutoring survived and is now taking bookings for 2021. Call or email if you wish to explore our tutoring options for students from kindy to tertiary studies. #2021approaching #learningforlife #nepeantutoring

22.01.2022 Understanding Exam Preparation Whether you’re nearing the end of your time at school or edging closer to your final years, at some point you’ve probably wondered: What is the point of exams? Essentially, exam questions are designed to test how effectively you use all your syllabus knowledge to answer a specific question. It’s about understanding, not memorising. Regurgitating memorised information is no substitute for formulating an argument which directly answers the exam q...uestion and justifies your perspective with well-analysed examples. It’s the same in life outside of school. You spend the first 17-18 years of your life in school learning all about the world around you. Some of those subjects you like and they help to guide you towards career interests. Some of those subjects you dislike and that’s okay. The purpose of this exposure is to give you theoretical and experiential knowledge of a broad range of subjects. By practising how to apply syllabus content to exam questions, you’re building the life skill of applying your theoretical and experiential knowledge, logic, reason to solve everyday and extraordinary life problems. So as tedious as they may seem, try to view your exams as an opportunity for problem solving. Like a muscle, it grows through practise and exposure to new problems. Each activity is a way to practise the skill of being a life-long learner and a reflective problem solver, both of which are qualities valued in all professions. 18.01.2022 I had to post this as a reminder that most families have this fabulous Mathematics resource at their fingertips. Don't underestimate the power of engagement when you use LEGO to teach children almost any Mathematical concept. https://mathgeekmama.com/lego-math/

17.01.2022 Anxiety is an issue that many students face with simply new concepts, managing their homework and preparing for exams. We are so proud of the testimonies we receive from clients to affirm that our mentoring approach, as one on one tutors, has helped their child to move toward a more confident and less stressful approach to their learning. #oneononetutoring #mentoringmatters #familysupport #nepeantutoring

17.01.2022 It truly startled me to delve deeper into the negative impacts of smart phones on our children’s behaviour and conversely application to learning. Your thoughts?

15.01.2022 Do we all too often forget to give children the pleasure of enjoying a given activity? Are we so time bound that the quality of childrens' work is forfeited to ...get to the finish line without providing them with the pleasure of the journey? Focus on the journey, not the destination. Joy is found not in finishing an activity but in doing it. - Greg Anderson #learningforpleasure #nepeantutoring

13.01.2022 A topic close to my experience as a teacher and tutor. It’s one of the most significant issues raised in conversations with parents of Secondary students. #writingforlife #WritingMatters #nepeantutoring

08.01.2022 Do we make opportunities for our children to experience moments of awe. My own readings on awe demonstrate its significance in our emotional intelligence. It’s how we respond when we see something new or novel that doesn’t fit with our understanding of the world, Amie Gordon, PhD. Can you remember a moment of awe or show us a pic that took your breath away? #awe #wonder #takeyourbreathaway #learningexperience #nepeantutoring

05.01.2022 You can teach a student a lesson for a day; but if you can teach him to learn by creating curiosity, he will continue the learning process as long as he lives. Clay P. Bedford https://www.mindchamps.ae/8-ways-encourage-curiosity-child/

05.01.2022 Nepean Tutoring is flourishing but we need great tutors to join our team. There is a particular need for INFANTS/PRIMARY TUTORS and SECONDARY MATHS TUTORS and ENGLISH in Penrith, the Blue Mountains and Hawkesbury areas. Teachers and uni students will work in a flexible, supportive and progressive environment as online or one to one home tutors with great rates of pay and support. Email your CV to Ros McHenery @ [email protected] to express your interest. Image credit: Champion Tutors

04.01.2022 As a service that takes pride in our relational approach to teaching and learning, this article was very affirming

04.01.2022 Is senior maths a necessary subject for senior students? We discussed this question and the consensus was that maths may be necessary for a range of career choices yet also flows on from years of instruction throughout a child’s education as an important developer of critical thinking. What is your opinion? https://theconversation.com/au
