19.01.2022 Attention Newcastle Pennants Players!! The Association has been at work behind the scenes trying to get our competition back up and running as soon as possible. What this looks like and how soon it can happen depends on the coordination and requirements of a number of different clubs and centers. After talks with various clubs we also need captains of current teams to talk to their players and let their clubs know how they are placed in terms of resuming squash. Is everyone k...een to get back on the courts as soon as possible? Do you have any players whose circumstances have changed and will not be able to return to squash? Has your entire team been severely affected and unable to pick back up with the sport? Please have these conversations with your team and let your club know as soon as possible!! The sooner we know the overall impact on our player base the sooner we can come up with a viable solution.

17.01.2022 Newcastle Squash has some sad news to share, with the passing of life member Lynn Philpott. Lynn served the sport for countless years, operating the Wallsend courts on Council Street, teaching kids to swim, and hosting many late nights and long weekends of squash! On top of that, Lynn was a long serving member on the board of Newcastle Squash in many roles, finishing up in 2015.... Outside of squash, Lynn also played a prominent role in the swimming community, once again offering up many years as a valued volunteer. We thank her for her decades of volunteering and service, and offer our condolences to the Philpott family and friends in this difficult time.

17.01.2022 We would like to thank Chris for her many years welcoming us and hosting wonderful tournaments and grand final days, she is a Life Member of Newcastle Squash and we celebrate her contribution to the game! With Madeline taking over and a remodelled centre opening tomorrow, its an exciting new chapter for squash in Lake Macquarie!

07.01.2022 Hi All, It is with great sadness that I inform you of the decision taken not to either continue with the suspended round of Autumn Pennants that we had begun earlier in the year; or to start a fresh competition for the remainder of the year. The Association has been in consultation with our various clubs and centers, obtained numbers from teams registered for the last competition and also had an in-depth look at the government requirements in order to offer a safe environment... that maintains the integrity of the pennants competition. A number of factors such as clubs not yet able to reopen due to the requirements of the premises in which they operate and the association itself not having the resources to monitor the ever changing government requirements and ability to sign off on the fact that practices are being adhered to regularly have been a significant part of our decision making process. We also felt that you the players would have been disadvantaged by a competition that may have seen your individual grades restricted to a center that isn't your normal home environment. The potential for suspended games without the ability to replay the matches would have also been an issue in determining the winners of the competition. The Association has not collected ANY registration money from clubs. As such if you paid your registration fees for the Autumn 2020 Pennants competition please see your clubs for a reimbursement or a credit. Individual clubs will be running small scale competitions that can better adhere to restrictions for the remainder of the year and we look forward to seeing all players back in 2021 for Pennants itself. We will be advertising competitions that clubs run on Facebook so follow the NSRA page to be kept up to date! Please show your support for clubs and squash in the region by getting on board or just heading out for a hit when possible!

03.01.2022 Newcastle Squash, along with our playing community shares our condolences to the Fuller family on the passing of Dave - a legend who was inspirational in his fight against cancer over many years, ran great tournaments, and always drew a big crowd to watch his matches when visiting our Newcastle Masters events! He gave 100% on and off the court, and a more passionate squashie you will never meet - RIP Dave Fuller.
