Learning the importance of sustainability and recycling of our precious, natural resources may be one of the greatest gift that we can give future generations.
23.01.2022 Renewable compostable sustainable. Why do we use sugarcane pulp rather than paper to form our cups? We’re glad you asked!... Sugarcane takes only 1 year to grow and harvest. Once the juices from sugarcane have been extracted, you are left with bagasse (a dry and fibrous pulp). The bagasse then has a chance to be recycled and take on another life cycle and be repurposed into a coffee cup. Paper on the other hand can take 20 years to grow and harvest. Sugarcane bagasse yields more than 3 X more product forming pulp than wood can. For example, Where it takes 1,000kgs of wood to produce 250kgs of pulp, only 300kgs of sugarcane bagasse will produce the same amount.
