20.01.2022 Good points from @truexodus on watching the hands. Hidden hands is a TRIGGER in our training to respond. Period. When you are dealing with a THREAT, there is... no circumstance where a hidden hand is okay. Period and end of story. When someone has already proven themselves to be a potential threat, I want your hands in my view 100% of the time. Now in cases where police and other responders instruct people to show ID and several other scenarios...you must understand in these moments that you are breaking a principle and your awareness and positioning needs to be ON POINT and as high as possible. If youre squared up and not already flanking or have cover, you need to draw quicker and shoot more accurately than the bad guy. #Repost @truexodus Here are some lessons that really hit home with me as I was watching this about 50 times. 1. Hands are the thing that can hurt you the most. Watch them. Whatever they go for, their stance, if they clinch their fists, all are indicators that something is about to go down. 2. Once shooting starts, people start running. Its a natural reaction we have, if youve not frequented a lot of gun fights, like myself (Special shoutout to all those guys who run TOWARDS the gunfire), then creating space and maintaining a distance that allows you to effectively engage. This is one of the reasons Im slanting my training towards red dot mounted pistols if for this very reason. With the real world abounding in real people, real collateral damage possibilities, red dot mounted pistols can allow the shooter to engage confidently beyond 50 yards. 3. Cardio and physical stamina. The scrambling, the running, falling, recovering, movement, breathing, all of this effects you ability to press a trigger. Prepare and train for things like this. 4. You may have to shoot from unorthodox shooting positions. Fight from there, but dont stay there. Always increase your odds of staying in the fight by upgrading your position, if the time and opportunity allows. Those are just a few of the things I noticed, what about you? The incident unfolded in Spotsylvania, Virginia, on Sunday morning, when the father, who went to check on the children around 6:30AM, encountered Mark Stanley, 60, naked from the waist down standing over the children, ages 2 and 3. When the family member opened the childrens bedroom door, he found the suspect,... Mr. Stanley in the room with the children nude from the waist down, reads a statement from the Spotsylvania Sheriffs Office. When the family member questioned what he was doing in the room, Mr. Stanley pushed the family member out of the room, then locking [sic] the door. The family member forced entry into the room and began beating Mr. Stanley. Police found the father with a handgun when they arrived. Sheriffs Capt. Liz Scott told the The Free Lance-Star the father was so upset police essentially had to rescue the suspect from further injury after responding to a 911 call. Scott said the father had already obtained a weapon and that deputies may have saved the suspects life, reports The Star. Police say Stanley, who is from North Carolina, was in Virginia visiting family for the holidays. Stanley faces two charges of indecent liberties with a child and one count of domestic assault. The children were taken to the hospital for evaluation, which could result in more charges being brought against him. The father was not charged.

Most people carry a blade but dont train with one. Blades are everywhere. In the kitchen all the way to being in another country with no way to carry a firearm. Its good to know how to deploy and effectively use a blade.
