10.01.2022 Borrowing rates have been down this year due to restrictions on students being unable to access the library so hopefully these are a helpful tool in promoting some of our fantastic new books! The Fiction guide is sorted by genre (including Historical Fiction, Fantasy, Sci-fi and Contemporary Fiction etc) and the Non-fiction guide features some amazing updates to our history collection in particular. Digital copy of the 2020 Fiction Guide:... http://web1.northsydbo-h.schools.nsw.edu.au//NewBooksGuide Digital copy of the 2020 Non-Fiction Guide: http://web1.northsydbo-h.schools.nsw.edu.au//NewBooksGuide Or check out a hard copy in the library (on your designated library days)

09.01.2022 October 16 is DLD Day - RADLD.ORG Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) is the new term to replace Specific Language Impairment (SLI). Developmental Language Disorder is diagnosed when children fail to acquire their own language for no obvious reason. This results in children who have difficulty understanding what people say to them, and struggle to articulate their ideas and feelings. Recent research has shown that, on average, 2 children in every class of 30 will experience DLD severe enough to hinder academic progress.

04.01.2022 NAIDOC Week 2020 8-15 November NAIDOC Week acknowledges and celebrates that our nation’s story didn’t begin with documented European contact whether in 1770 or 1606 - with the arrival of the Dutch on the western coast of the Cape York Peninsula. Always Was, Always Will Be. recognises that First Nations people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years.... The very first footprints on this continent were those belonging to First Nations peoples. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people were Australia’s first explorers, first navigators, first engineers, first farmers, first botanists, first scientists, first diplomats, first astronomers and first artists. NAIDOC 2020 invites all Australians to embrace the true history of this country a history which dates back thousands of generations. It’s about seeing, hearing and learning the First Nations’ 65,000+ year history of this country - which is Australian history. We want all Australians to celebrate that we have the oldest continuing cultures on the planet and to recognise that our sovereignty was never ceded.
