25.01.2022 FEEL GOOD STORY OF THE SEASON! "Today I watched in awe as a baby whale was born... I then cried as its lifeless body drifted towards the shoreline. Its lifel...ess body drifting dangerously close to the beach, what we saw next was amazing. The mother, nearly beaching herself, swam between her calf and the shore and pushed the young one into deeper water. All hope seemed to have been lost, I was in tears, [as] she lifted the lifeless body out of the water over and over for what seemed like 10 minutes... Eventually, a small kick of the tail! For the first time the mother took a breath of her own (as did we), we cheered as we cried as the little whale dived down into the blue waters below..." It's not every day humpback whale calves are birthed here in #WhalesHerveyBay (normally further north in the tropics), and it's certainly not every day that the natural phenomena is caught on camera! Did you know? Humpback whales are mammals, meaning they breathe air just like us! They are also completely dependant on mum for their first year of life, and a mother humpback whale must help their babies take their first breath - and teach them everything else they need to know about being a whale before they are ready to face the world alone. 15.01.2022 My gorgeous boy didn't come on the walk this morning as he has a stiff leg, probably over done it a bit so could do with a rest day. We adopted Trigger 18 months ago, he came to us with some serious reactivity, seperation anxiety, and funny quirks. We have worked through and desensitized this beautiful (but sometimes noisy) soul to a variety of things. So he's a happy, chilled member of society! One thing I've held back on is being home alone. As I was really aware of ho...w far we'd come and didn't want to loose any of his confidence. He's always with Gizmo, he'll happily leave with me and go out. But he would get extremely stressed if Gizmo goes out without him. But in the last couple of months I've noticed how chill and super relaxed he is in our new home (we only moved here in Feb and it's taken a bit of time for him to adjust). So today he was home alone. Well hubby was downstairs working, but Trigger didn't know. Guess what??? He was fine, chilling on the deck with a bone! So proud of how far we've come. If you are struggling with you dogs behaviour. Change takes time, we can't force them to feel comfortable they need to do it themselves. I've found being patient with yourself and your dog, ensuring calm interactions, positive reinforcement, building a strong bond, building confidence, loving your dog, learning dog communication then use it. 12.01.2022 Sorry guys! I realise I've been super quiet on here. We've been mainly chilling Unfortunately I'm not getting better, actually getting worse. Following orders from doctor for strict rest, good nutrition. Lots has been ruled out, but no answers as yet. It's looking like this will be a long hiatus, and possibly even permanent. I'm super hopeful it's not, but also trying to be realistic. It sucks on so many levels, I miss my life and I miss the dogs so much. I'm managing to g...et my two fur babies out maybe twice a week. I bumped into Iya last week, in fact she bowled up with her helicopter tail, happy face and lots of kisses for me. Literally made my week to see her gorgeous face. I'm looking into ways I can earn an income from home, because you know a girls gotta eat! Of course it will be dog orientated!
