24.01.2022 Great to see magpies returning to the northwest. Here's a great article for anyone who is tempted to feed them. It's also been reported that the feeding by humans is what causes them to swoop, as they are protecting not their babies but the source of food. Probably best to let them feed themselves.

11.01.2022 A very short video explaining where we go from here.

07.01.2022 This is certainly relevant at Penguin Community Garden where we lose a lot of sunshine in winter. Help us celebrate the end of shortening days at our Winter Solstice Gathering; stand by for details.

04.01.2022 Please note, if you are coming you need to RSVP, as numbers are limited.

03.01.2022 REGISTER YOUR INTEREST - WEEDS ACTION FUND The next round of the state-wide Tasmanian Weeds Action Fund is on its way. The fund takes a strategic and targeted ...approach to tackling high priority weeds. A small grants round is set to open in spring. Another round to support larger-scale, more complex projects will be released later this financial year. Please register your interest ONLINE and NRM North will be in contact with you when the guidelines are released. https://nrmnorth.org.au/land/weeds-action-fund/ These images are of orange hawkweed (Pilosella aurantiaca subsp. aurantiaca). Unfortunately, it is an aggressive European weed that poses a real threat to Tasmania’s alpine and sub-alpine habitats. It can out-compete native grasses and herbs, and eventually take over entire ecosystems.
