24.01.2022 43 WINGLESS SPRINTS FOR THE ALL OPEN WHEEL DEAL 43 Wingless Sprint drivers have entered the Sid Hopping Shootout All Open Wheel Deal this Saturday night at Valv...oline Raceway Parramatta as the brutally competitive category searches for yet another different A-Main winner. In the first three rounds at VR weve had three different winners - Dean Thomas, Jason Bates and Kyle Mock. Who will be the fourth? After his stout run to finish third in The Australian Wingless Sprint Super Series opening round at our sister track Hi-Tec Oils Toowoomba Speedway last Saturday night perhaps its Troy Carey who may come in as a possible favourite. Consistently one of the most competitive classes in Australian Speedway and certainly one of the biggest fields on the East Coast week in week out the Wingless Sprint category is going from strength to strength. Realistically at least ten different drivers could walk away with the A-Main win on Sid Hopping night - the evening that honours the visionary and the creator of Parramatta City Raceway. Given the emotion surrounding the event with the recent news of Valvoline Raceways uncertain future the chance to win any A-Main will be even more keenly sought after. 24.01.2022 A NEW HOME FOR SYDNEY SPEEDWAY Speedway Australia welcomes the announcement made yesterday from the NSW State Government that they are committed to building a n...ew speedway in the Sydney area. Speedway is a $250 million a year industry in Greater Sydney, that employs around 600 people. The sport originated in New South Wales and is about to celebrate 100 years of racing in the state. As we all know, the current site of Valvoline Raceway is in the process of being utilised for the new metro system. Speedway Australia is looking forward to working with Valvoline Raceway and the State Government to deliver a new world class, fit for purpose speedway on the new site at Eastern Creek. We are excited that the venue operator will have access to more race dates that will increase the opportunities for youth speedway, motorcycle speedway and speedway karts. This will grow the industry even further, providing more benefits for Western Sydney and the state of New South Wales. We also look to work with the government project managers and current venue operators to ensure a modern venue is constructed, that is the same or better than Valvoline Raceway, and includes adequate carparking and a bus service to a nearby train station. Speedway Australias staff have worked closely with all parties with it being our position and recommendation that the incumbent operators of Valvoline Raceway be granted a first right of negotiation for the lease at the new site. Speedway wants to be a good neighbour for the rest of the motorsport precinct and we look forward to Valvoline Raceway moving to their new home in late 2021. In the meantime, we also wish all speedway competitors, fans and officials a very safe and Merry Christmas, and look forward to a prosperous 2020 for the sport. Yours in Speedway, Guy Thompson Chairman, Speedway Australia

17.01.2022 FARR GOES BACK TO BACK; THE PUP NABS ANOTHER ONE AND OBRIEN GETS HIS FIRST Official release: Valvoline Raceway November 2, 2019 Robbie Farr is the back to bac...k Sid Hopping Shootout winner for 2019/2020 almost thirty years to the day since his first ever podium result at Sydneys Liverpool Raceway in 1989. Farr was third on that night on November 3, 1989. Kaidon Brown has locked in his first VR main event win of the season and Mitch OBrien locked in his career first main event win at Sydneys Valvoline Raceway Parramatta tonight. In front of a vocal and staunch crowd the Ultimate Sprintcars, Speedcars and Wingless Sprints put on a show befitting the man who created the arena they raced on Sid Hopping, the creator of the then Parramatta City Raceway. For Farr it was his 129th trip to the podium in a stellar career that shows absolutely no signs of slowing down. For Kaidon Brown it was win #101 for Brown Family Racing over three generations and a back to back success for him after his victory at Hi-Tec Oils Toowoomba Speedway last Saturday night. Brown also became the second Speedcar driver from three main events this season (Matt Jackson won the first two) in the CEJN Pty Ltd sponsored feature race. For Leighton OBrien his pressure cooker win was a huge relief, taking away the stress of feeling like he might not win a main event in Valvoline Raceways precarious tenure at the Wentworth Street iconic venue. Sid Hopping and son Steve stood on the kerb to wave the chequered flags for the four-wide salute as Sids grandson Jake Baines paced the field in his DTM Sprintcar with as special tribute top wing like Sids famous Batmobile and also getting a special clearance to run the number #100 like Sid. It was Ben Atkinson who started the A-Main on the front row alongside former track champion James Thompson and it was Thompson who jumped to the lead in turn one before Atkinson sailed around the top in turn four to reclaim the top spot. Peter ONeill exited from the event early with a heavy rollover that brought on the reds. Something seemed to be troubling Thompson who lost five or six positions in the first two laps whilst Atkinson steamrolled away. Farr moved quickly into second with Sam Walsh in third and last start winner Jordyn Brazier and former Sid Hopping Shootout winner Jackson Delamont looking racy. The yellows came on shortly after when Daniel Cassidys wounded #15 ended up against the infield concrete wall. At the restart with 26 laps remaining Sam Walsh moved into second ahead of Farr, Brazier and Delamont. At the time, not many saw multi-generation young guns Marcus Dumesny and Jessie Attard make their plays from the seventh row of the grid and begin immediately hustling cars on the outside. Robbie Farr moved into the lead shortly after and Walsh slipped by fellow Rocket/Aeroflow sponsored driver Ben Atkinson to begin running down Farr. With fifteen laps remaining Sam Walsh pulled a slide job on Farr in turns three and four to briefly inherit the lead before the Hi-Tec Oils Cool moved back into the top spot going into turn one. Michael Stewart lost the handle in the slick in turn two in the Global Racing #71 and spun to bring on the cautions briefly blotting what had been an impressive double-duty copybook after early finishing a narrow second to feature winner Brown in the Speedcar A-Main. At the greens Atkinson challenged Walsh in one and two on the bottom before Sam jumped the cushion in three and four and allowed the Darwin hard charger to slip back into the top two as Farr zoomed away. Jordyn Brazier was fast, as was Matt Dumesny and Jackson Delamont in the top five position whilst Marcus Dumesny and Jessie Attard had continued their ferocious runs towards the front hammering down the cushion when most were clinging to the bottom. Marcus got as high as fifth before losing ground and falling just outside that spot despite a barnstorming drive with dance partner and fellow teenager Attard. Farr flashed home to win from Ben Atkinson in second scoring a long overdue and well-deserved podium finish after an almost two-year drought from getting the hardware in an A-Main at VR. This place means the world to me, said Farr, this ones for Sid and all of the Hopping family for all that they have done to make this sport what it is. And to the current Waldron family too for all that they are doing. Its an honour to win back to back Sid Hopping races. Ultimate Sprintcars NSW Round 2 Sid Hopping Shootout results 1. Robbie Farr 2. Peter ONeill DNF Kaidon Brown was simply brilliant scoring a clean sweep of his two heats and the A-Main victory in his TFH #97 but it was far from an easy road at any time for the talented teenager as he wrapped up his first VR feature win of the season. Fresh off his Toowoomba win the Pup was able to despatch the flying Jenkins brothers and move into the lead from position nine originally. Dan Biner started the new Syndicate Mopar King off the front row and led early before first Troy and then Darren Jenkins in the #WeAreVR liveried Mopar began reeling the leader in. With 20 laps remaining Troy Jenkins moved the new look SwapnGo #78 Spike into the front spot and little bro DJ followed him through into second relegating Biner to third and effectively into the clutches of the fast moving Kaidon Brown and Michael Stewart. Harley Smee and Matt Jackson looked typically racy inside the top ten as did DJ Raw for his eventual seventh place finish and it was great to welcome back Wollongong veteran Gary Rooke in the distinctive #42 car. With nineteen laps to go Kaidon Brown began cracking and ripped through to third as the Jenkins boys played out a fantasy possible 1-2 result between them with Troy on the top side and Darren down low. This was the opposite of how it usually plays out. In the blink of an eye the field had played a bit of SwapnGo with Troy Jenkins as he was shuffled back to fourth behind new leader Darren Jenkins, Kaidon Brown in second and Michael Stewart third with seventeen laps remaining. A restart when Patterson spun saw Brown storm to the lead in turn one on the inside and Matt Jackson looked like he would be a handful in a feisty fifth position. With fourteen remaining Stewart pulled a slide job on Jenkins for second with the pair consequently making contact twice before Stewart moved through and began chasing down Brown. Jackson was attacking Troy Jenkins with eight to run as Brown and Stewart ran the lapped traffic like bosses on the top side. Jamie Hall brought on the yellows with six laps remaining when he spun in turn three and four and at the restart Stewart threw everything quite literally at Brown but couldnt get close enough to make a passing attempt. Brown finished off a clean sweep to take the win ahead of Michael Stewart in second and Darren Jenkins third. The win is a great build up for the teenager as he prepares for a dream drive in the Matt Wood Midget in the USA later this month. There are some really good events, some really good competitors and Im in a really good car, I cant thank Mat Wood enough for this incredible opportunity, he explained. Cam Ware DNF Mitch OBrien picked a spectacular time to score his first ever podium result and A-Main win in the stoppage plagued Wingless Sprints feature race. The 33-year old from St. Clair in Sydneys West took the X-Presso Mobile Caf / JME Excavations car to a very narrow victory and became yet another different winner in the Wingless season so far at VR. There has yet to be a repeat winner. A number of spectacular incidents of varying seriousness made the A-Main difficult to get a rhythm but the hard luck story of the race was undoubtedly the man who led for the majority Jarrad Rust. With a big chance for a win or at podium or at the very least a top five Rust tragically spun out in turn one and rolled with the end of the race in sight seeing his chance for a major main event personal best disappear in the dust despite a fantastic drive to that point. OBrien timed his run brilliantly to make a three-wide pass on the cushion in turn four with three laps to go just before Rusts exit passing Mark Blyton and Luke Sayre in the process. The race was declared at that point leaving OBrien as a deserving winner for making the timely gutsy move over Luke Sayre in second place and Mark Blyton third. Sean Mayos spectacular flip was part of a chain reaction that saw multiple cars upside down and taken out early in the shortened 21-lap affair including Peter Granger, Nathan Dicker and Jason Bates to name a few. 16.01.2022 NEW PROPOSED SCHEDULE OUT SOON! Due to the unprecedented times we are in and to allay any concerns that may be circulating about next seasons calendar shortly ...we will be publicly posting the new proposed schedule that is expected to be run at Valvoline Raceway. The 2020/21 season will be the final seaon to be run at the Parramatta venue and as you will see its a full calendar highlighted by 3 Australian Titles, 7 NSW Titles , a 22 round USC Championship, The USC Speedweek and the USC Nationals to name a few. The season is scheduled to start on the 3rd October and run through until the final double header weekend where we will sadly say Goodbye to this iconic speedway venue that has created so many special memories. There are also a number of exciting plans which will play out during the season and be released at a later date. As exciting as the season looks, please be aware that sporting events will be governed by any limitations or restrictions that the Government deems necessary during the COVID-19 pandemic - naturally. After discussions with management they want to make sure that it is a very clear in the commitment from both Barry and Felicity Waldron to a season finale that honours Valvoline Raceways history and legacy as it deserves. Of course this is dependent on Government Legislation. The calendar will be subject to change and as the season gets closer and it is clearer on how the venue can conducted race events, discussions will take place with clubs as to the possible changes or make up will take place prior to any of the proposed race schedule. We hope to release this information this coming Monday. Thank you, we hope that you are all safe and well and that everyone is doing their best to limit the spread of the virus. Lets stay apart so that hopefully soon we can race together! 11.01.2022 On Saturday the team traveled to Goulburn for round 4 of the club championship and the first round of the country series. Goulburn had a makeover in the off season an awesome improvement on the facilities well done to all involved. Heat 1 Mitch was out of p6 and manage to make some good passes to get to the lead and set the lap record coming away with the win.... Laz started from 7th and made a few positions to finish 4th. Second round of heats Mitch started 3rd with plenty of speed on a hard to pass track finished 3rd. Laz started 2nd and struggled to make a move finished 2nd. Feature time came and Mitch was starting 3rd while laz was out of 10th. Again the track was hard to pass on being single lane at the end of the night Mitch finished 3rd getting his second podium and laz finished 9th. 06.01.2022 Valvoline Raceway Round 2 Recap:- Saturday saw the team back at valvoline raceway for round 2 of the club championship. ... With overnight rain continuing Saturday morning it was a big effort from the track to get the meeting in. That rain meant we would see a track we never have had at valvoline raceway before staying tacky for most of the night. Heat 1 saw Mitch start from 2nd getting to the lead off the start and pulled away to convincing heat win. Laz started 6th and made his way to 4th until a driver error lost him a spot coming home in 5th 2nd round of heats would see Mitch come from 7th moving forward one spot to finish 6th Laz started 5th missing the setup he fell back to finish 7th. After the heats Mitch was 8th on points which would see him locked into the A main to start 8th. Laz was to start 5th in the B main running one spot out of the transfer spot he made a mistake and finished 7th A main time and Mitch got off to a good start from 8th running in 6th on the second lap and shortly after making his way up to 4th. In the closing laps Mitch was challenging for 3rd and all but made the move to slip off the edge and continue to finish in 4th. 04.01.2022 Well now the season has officially come to an end with the points score being released last night. The team had put in a massive effort last season and it sure did show with Mitch in the N99 finishing the track and club championship in 9th place respectively and Laz in the N98 finishing the track and club championship in 14th & 15th respectively. Pretty cool to achieve this and all the hard Work has paid off. Pity we didnt get to finish the whole season off though it is what... it is. Massive thanks goes out to Sally, Rachel, and Mum for all their help throughout the season it is greatly appreciated.
