21.01.2022 Recently I was invited by Serpentine Jarrahdale Shire to present my story to two Secondary Schools within their Shire. The year 11 students at both schools were wonderful, respectful and asked so many questions at the end. Sometimes it can be a difficult story to share, but the message is so important. 07.01.2022 I hear a lot said about speed cameras being just revenue raising, so I thought I would share this information. In WA, speed is one of the major causes of road crashes. In fact, in 2019 32% of fatalities were speed related. 100% of the revenue raised from speed cameras & red light cameras go into the Road Safety Commissions Road Trauma Trust Account. As well as being used to implement priority road safety projects, these funds also fund Road Trauma Support. Road Trauma Suppor...t is there to offer assistance to anyone in WA who have been affected by a road trauma, regardless of when the incident occurred or what level of involvement the person had. This assistance is offered free of charge & could be in the form of counselling or just information. So yes, we all hear the comments that if you don’t speed you won’t get fined, but it isn’t just about revenue raising. It is also about so much more, including helping people who have been impacted by a road crash. By this point, our son had just been plodding on on life support, no longer going backwards, but not progressing forwards either. A new doctor, who had started his roster a day before, wanted to challenge him & see what happened, so we agreed.
