24.01.2022 Bonjour from Our Cottage in France! Were fresh off the back of presenting at the 10th Paris to Provence Festival at Como House where we met many new Francophiles and caught up with the regulars! It was a wonderful three-day event and we particularly enjoyed having the opportunity to present special one hour sessions in the Ballroom where we shared our story":- how we came to own two properties in France which we now offer as holiday accommodation. We even played our flute...s as part of the presentation much to the surprise of the packed ballroom. Apart from sharing our adventures we showed a couple of short videos of both properties and answered questions from the audience. Of particular interest to many was the touring option we offer. Some expressed their desire to visit the Dordogne but had concerns about driving in France. At the same time an organised, rigorous bus tour did not appeal. To this end, we reminded people that we offer escorted, private tours tailored to individual needs inclusive of our comfortable car, our lovely accommodation, excellent restaurant meals and all at a pace suited to your requirements. Already a couple has jumped at an 8-day tour and booked for September next year and another tour is in the process of being finalised as I write. Because we know the area so well and are very passionate about what we do, we feel we offer a friendly, reliable and pleasurable, bespoke French getaway. 21.01.2022 So this evening we went out for a meal at a local restaurant ( The four leafed clover ) in a very small village called Siorac just 5 minutes from the cottage in Berbiguieres. Its run by a family and has been, for generations. Two sisters serve out front and a brother is the chef. Its always SO good. Heres the proof. Neil had the sea bass on the left. A meaty fish in a French onion sauce. I had plaice and the presentation makes it look like squid but it was lovely white fish, served with a sauce made from cockles. Oh my word. So light and delicious and just what I felt like. Then Neil had the dessert of beautiful pineapple with an exceptional mousse. ourcottageinfrance.com Although were working hard to keep the houses up to snuff we still have the odd occasion to enjoy France! 09.01.2022 Our last night in Beaulieu before heading to Paris and home. Thursday night. No reservation...ouch! Dont ever do this even though its the restaurant within 200 meters from our home. ( and were in rural France! ) They managed to fit us in! As usual the 3 course menu was out of this world. 26 euros p.p. With a surprise starter! Chestnut soup for Neil, a poached egg with butternut shavings and ridiculous sauce for me as entre. I devoured it! Incredible white fish with cri...spy skin for main for us both ( didnt leave a morsel on the plate ) and then the most beautiful pear dessert. Tiny, young and tender pears, meringuey cream, sorbet and biscuits. Honesty. Ive been pretty unwell since being here..so tonight did my heart good. The Chef came out to talk to us at the end. He was SO lovely. We told him we recommend his restaurant to all our guests. La Turenne . Just around the corner from home! Weve had the most amazing time here in France even with a bit of a health glitch for me. My lovely husband has been busy doing so many bits and pieces but achieving much. No, were over the road and where the locals go, but honestly? ...check out the ambience of the Blue Train! Sacre bleu!

03.01.2022 Arcachon...45 minutes South West of Bordeaux. Their answer to the Riviera and pretty darn impressive! Ritzy? Pricey? Touristy? Yes, yes and yes. But a very nice sea air, cool getaway for two tired people.

The magical waterway in the cave is navigated by boats with gondoliers and provides an unforgettable way of reaching the beautiful cathedral like caverns at the end.
