If you're thinking it just means to be happy because life is going your way, then you've got it completely wrong. Rejoicing in the Bible refers to a complete inner contentment DESPITE what might be going on in the world around you.... How is that possible? It's because of the full, finished and complete work of Jesus on the cross. It's knowing that even when you don't have control, God does. It means even when you can't see the way out, God can. It accepting that when you fail time and again, God won't. So, do you rejoice in the Gospel?

But the Gospel states that true contentment can exist even in times of hunger, poverty, persecution or suffering. So how does this line up with world's view? Well the key is the Gospel. Without a true and solid foundation of knowing Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Saviour, you cannot have true contentment in any and every circumstance.... So do you have Gospel contentment?
