25.01.2022 Happy Father’s Day to all the horsey Dads out there! You know the ones... carrying all the gear, leading the pony to victory in the led beginner class, making sure everyone is fed and watered... and just maybe helping someone reverse their float into that tight spot. Thanks for everything you do for us!

25.01.2022 **2021 MEMBERSHIP UPDATE*** Please be advised that renewals are NOT yet available for 2021. Zones are currently in the process of setting their memberships up. After this stage, we will advise clubs that can set their memberships up. Only then will members be able to renew their memberships. We are hoping that memberships will be available for renewal early in December. If you are wanting to enter the 2021 State Dressage Championships, you will be able to enter the event - a warning will pop up to say that you are not current (for 2021), however will allow you to click through to enter.

24.01.2022 Riders Cup has Pony Club Jumping into Spring After making the difficult decision to cancel our State Championships for the remainder of 2020, Pony Club NSW has established the PCANSW Riders Cup a showjumping challenge where riders can compete within their zones whilst testing their skill against riders across the State. Inspired by the FEI Childrens Challenge, this allows our riders to get out and compete in a fun and covid-safe manner and keep themselves and their horse...s active. International Course Designer John Vallance has generously designed all of our courses for the Riders Cup. All events will be run between the 3rd and 11th of October, with State results announced shortly after the conclusion of all events. Our unique club network of around 250 clubs has given Pony Club NSW the depth of experience and knowledge within our membership base to allow for 18 different clubs and zones to host the event from Coffs Harbour in the North, to Bega in the South, and as far West as Dubbo and Jindera. Every host club will receive a $200 grant from Pony Club NSW as well as providing much needed fundraising and sponsorship opportunities for these clubs. Many clubs have missed out on income from their canteen and their yearly fundraising events such as Gymkhanas and raffles, and the bills to keep the club running keep coming in. Pony Club NSW Official Nutrition Partner Ranvet has come on board as a major sponsor of the Riders Cup event, they will be providing place getters with their Australian Made Nutritional Supplements, merchandise and more! We are very thankful to have the support of such a wonderful company that supports our up and coming riders. It has been a tough year for everyone, however with much of our membership base coming from rural and regional NSW we have particularly sympathised with our members affected by drought, bushfires and floods throughout 2020 and hope that the Riders Cup will provide our members with the sense of community that Pony Club is all about whilst still being covid-safe. 23.01.2022 Is your horse misbehaving or could they be in pain? Horses feel pain just like we do, so as riders it's important that we "listen" to what our horses are telling us through behavioural changes like refusing jumps, not picking up the correct canter lead, or they might be showing actual lameness. Read more here https://thehorse.com/17736/pain-behavioral-or-both/

23.01.2022 It's been a tough year for everyone. When was the last time you asked the people around you "R U OK"? Usually the answer is "yes", but would you know what to say if the answer was "no"? 17.01.2022 Here's another great idea from Official Nutrition Partner Ranvet for the coming weekend - set to hit over 40 degrees in parts of the state Hot Weather Tip With temperatures set to reach up to 35 degrees tomorrow, why not treat your pony to a nice frozen ice block made in old Ranvet buckets. Horsey Ice Blocks are a great way to help keep your horse cool & hydrated during hot days.... To make: Add a couple scoops of Salkavite or Ranvet Electrolytes, your horse's favourite treats like apples or carrots, add flavour with a splash of yummy cordials or molasses and freeze overnight. Hot Tip: If you empty the ice block into a flexi-tub your horse can slurp up the yummy liquid as it melts For more information on our range of electrolytes please visit our website: https://www.ranvet.com.au/.../electrolytes-categories/ #BeatTheHeat #HorseNutrition #HorseTreat #Ranvet #TrustedPerformanceProducts

14.01.2022 Hands up if the Sydney 2000 Olympic Gold Medal winning Eventing Team's victory lap still gives you chills?! And who else is going to do a sneaky victory lap of their own around the arena this afternoon Don't forget to apply for our Annual State Camp to get the chance to spend a week at this incredible facility at Sydney International Equestrian Centre with four days of elite coaching!

13.01.2022 Congratulations to our finalists representing NSW in the Annual Pony Club Australia Awards!

12.01.2022 One for the Eventers! Do you have any great memories from the Sydney 2000 Olympics? How lucky are we to have access to this amazing facility for our annual State Camp at Sydney International Equestrian Centre. Shared from Equestrian NSW To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Eventing competition at the Sydney Olympic Games, CrossCountry App have released an exciting digital recreation of the cross country course. Take a tour of the interactive map with Olympians Mary King, ...Blyth Tait, Stuart Tinney and Amanda Ross who remember their ride and their wonderful horses - and for Stuart Tinney, the Team Gold Medal ceremony. Course designer Mike Etherington-Smith explains how the venue and course came into being over three years. One great thing that has come out of the Sydney Olympics is the legacy of the venue explains Blyth Tait who is now designing courses at Sydney. It is a world class facility which must contribute to the preparation for Australian teams when going overseas. It is such a credit that it is such a great venue twenty years later. The Sydney International Equestrian Centre continues to regularly host eventing competitions where riders from 60cm to 4* can experience the thrill of riding over the same terrain and galloping through the (albeit modified) Olympic water jumps. It has been an engrossing and fun project says CrossCountry App co-Founder Jose Diacono who was herself a volunteer Team Liaison Officer - or Ollie Vollie as they were called. Mike Etherington-Smith, Competition Manager Franz Venhaus and Deputy Competition Manager Vince Roche supplied documents and photographs and many others contributed photos of the competition and fences. The digital course includes the fascinating stories behind the fence names which celebrate the aboriginal heritage and history of the site. The Anniversary Course includes audio extracts from a highly entertaining zoom panel in which Mary King, Blyth Tait, Stuart Tinney and Amanda Ross relived the excitement by watching their rounds with Mike Etherington-Smith. Hosted by former Australian Olympic coach Prue Barrett and Eventing commentator Fiona Hughes of Sit Tight Radio. Find the 20th Anniversary Sydney 2000 course at http://bit.ly/sydney2000xc and on Cross Country App. Listen to the Sit Tight Radio podcast on iTunes. 11.01.2022 With a huge influx of applications for the 2021 State Camp, selectors had a tough job to decide on just 12 riders per discipline to attend the 28th Annual State Camp at Sydney International Equestrian Centre in January. With over 130 entries for the camp and only 72 positions available, you can just imagine how difficult it was. Dressage had the highest number of applicants, which is great sign of the strength of the discipline within Pony Club. For those that weren't select...ed this time around, we hope you try again next year - and also put in your Expression of Interest for the 2021 Nationals (and training clinics) here https://pcansw.org.au//2021-national-championship-team-eois Please find all riders selected for the State Camp 2021 here https://pcansw.org.au//g/78/selection_list_for_website.pdf Half Steps Photography

11.01.2022 Have you ever had a tack-sident like this before? We aren't sure what caused this bridle to become dislodged/break, but this is a good reminder to give your gear a good checking over, ensuring stitching and leather is in good condition with no fraying or cracking, and also a good reminder of the benefits of a thorough gear check!

11.01.2022 Eugowra Pony Club had another fabulous rally day last weekend, with a demonstration from a professional trick rider (pictured), with kids (and even some parents!) having a practice on a saddled barrel! 10.01.2022 From Saturday 26 September, interregional community sporting competitions can recommence without restricting these activities to regions or zones, where there is a COVID19 Safety Plan for the community sporting activity in place. The advice provided in August regarding limiting spectators to one parent per child, and inter-region sport and recreation activities has been removed, however organisations must still ensure their activity is delivered in compliance with the Public ...Health Order and the COVID-19 Safety Plan requirements. This includes the requirement to adhere to the 500-person limit for community sport activities (including participants, officials and spectators) and adhering to the one person per four square metre rule. Organisations and spectators must also ensure that physical distancing of at least 1.5 metres is maintained between people that do not come from the same household. If this is unable to be achieved wearing a mask is recommended. Clubs are instructed to update their risk assessments with this new advice. 09.01.2022 Would you like to complete something new over the holiday period? Why not do the Sport Australia Community Coaching General Principles course. It takes approxim...ately four hours. The course is aimed at first time and beginner coaches (eg. parents) and is a requirement for all our PCA NCAS Preliminary Coaches. There is assessment included within each module. Learners who successfully complete the course will receive a certificate and have their details recorded on the Australian Sports Commission’s national coaching database. https://www.sportaus.gov.au/coaches_and_officials/coaches AIS Sport Australia #coaching #riders #parents #volunteers #clubs #ponyclubaus #belearning #helpyourclub #coaches #officials #pcancas #pathways

Unfortunately this year definitely hasn't gone to plan, however many clubs and zones have been active in putting on covid-safe events for their members. What have you participated in recently? 03.01.2022 Have you noticed yellow flowered weeds creeping into your paddocks of late? It's probably the noxious weed Fireweed. Our Official Nutrition Partner Ranvet show how to safely remove the weed from your paddocks and gives us some information below: Fireweed looks like a daisy with little yellow flowers. It invades pastures and can poison horses and livestock. In most cases horses will naturally avoid these plants, however, during winter when pasture is limited, horses may consu...me them. Horses have more problems with fireweed poisoning than other livestock. Unpigmented skin in horses can become sensitive to sunlight, redden and peel away. Brain damage can also be a common side effect. Other symptoms of Fireweed poisoning can include: * Dullness * Aimless wandering * An uncoordinated gait * Pressing up against fences, gates or trees reduced awareness, and possible blindness. Hand weeding is often the most effective way of removing Fireweed from your horse's paddock. It is important to wear gloves and ensure that you use a bag to dispose of the plants immediately after removing them to minimise seed dispersal. https://www.facebook.com/watch/

01.01.2022 The Transported Stock Statement (TSS) system was introduced in 1990 partly to assist NSW Police Force to trace stolen stock. You are required to carry a TSS in various circumstances including transporting your horse to a private facility for recreational riding or lessons. Be prepared, you are likely to be pulled over and asked by the NSW Police for a TSS for the horse you may be moving. If you do not have a TSS with you or your horse does not meet any of the exemptions, you may be fined. Read here for more information https://pcansw.org.au/med/news/police-operation-stock-check
