22.01.2022 You may have heard the term thrown around a lot lately but do you know what 20/20 vision actually means? The term 20/20 vision is used to express normal visual acuity. This means at 20 feet you can see clearly what is considered normal at this distance. As we use metres in Australia rather than feet we use the term 6/6 instead, which is equivalent to 20/20. Therefore if a person has a visual acuity of 6/15, this means they can only see at 6 metres what a normal person can se...e at 15 metres, and therefore has less than normal vision. If a person has 6/4.5 visual acuity this means they have better than normal vision as at 6 metres they can see what a normal person can see at 4.5 metres. By using an intraocular lens (IOL), to replace the natural lens within the eye, this corrects short sightedness, long sightedness, astigmatism and presbyopia. 20.01.2022 Just a quick update for patients in the recent events regarding COVID 19. Perth Laser Vision and Murdoch Eye Centre have not been affected by COVID 19 in any way. Dr McGeorge and all staff are well. Surgeries will proceed as normal at SJOG Subiaco and Murdoch theatres. Please be assured that we are maintaining a safe, clean environment for your consultation or surgery. Our Lasik Theatre is private and located in our rooms. We have always followed strict hygiene procedures in this theatre and will continue to do so. If you have any concerns, please give us a call on 9218 7666.

We’ve listed below all health funds we know of that will fully or partially cover laser eye surgery with us. BUPA will fully cover the cost of laser eye surgery with us if you have held their Ultimate Gold hospital cover for a minimum of 3 years.... Medibank Private will cover $3500 (lifetime limit) of your laser eye surgery if you have held their Ultra Gold hospital cover for a minimum of 3 years. AHM will partly cover laser eye surgery under their Lifestyle and Super Extra’s cover. $600 per eye per person is claimable under their Lifestyle Extra cover and $900 per eye per person is claimable under their Super Extra cover. Both covers have a 2 year waiting period. Defence Health will cover $1500 per person towards laser eye surgery under their Premier Extra cover if their 12 month waiting period has been served. Navy Health will cover $1500 towards laser eye surgery under their Premium Extra cover, and $1200 towards laser eye surgery under their Healthy Living Extra cover. Both covers have a 12 month waiting period.
