11.01.2022 Beginning at 6pm tonight, the whole Perth metropolitan area, the Peel region and the South West region will be going into a full lockdown. This lockdown will ru...n until 6pm on Friday. A five-day lockdown. It’s crucial we act quickly, to keep the community safe. We cannot forget how quickly this virus can spread, nor the devastation it can cause. Following our discussions with the Chief Health Officer and Police Commissioner, the following measures will be put in place from 6pm for people in Perth, Peel and the South West: People in these regions are required to stay home, except for the following four reasons: - Shopping for essentials like groceries, medicine and necessary supplies. - Medical or health care needs including compassionate requirements and looking after the vulnerable. - Exercise, within their neighbourhood, but only with one other person and only for one hour per day. - Work, where you cannot work from home or remotely. In addition to this Stay Home rule. If you do leave home, for one of the four reasons you will be required to wear a mask at all times outside and if you need to work indoors, then wearing a mask in the workplace is also mandatory. To be clear, mask wearing on public transport is also mandatory. People in the Perth, Peel or South West region need to stay inside their region for the next five days, unless for an essential reason. We are strongly encouraging that everyone in this area, who is from another WA region, stay here and do not travel further outside of this area until the lockdown is over. If you do need to travel outside the region you are in now, that can only occur if you need to return to your place of residence or exceptional circumstances. The transport of essential goods into this region, is permitted, under our existing transport guidelines. This lockdown means the following businesses, venues and locations in the relevant regions need to close for the next five days: - Pubs, bars and clubs - Gyms and indoor sporting venues - Playgrounds, skate parks and outdoor recreational facilities - Cinemas, entertainment venues, and casinos - Beauty therapy services, parlour or salon including hairdressers, barbershop, nail salon, tattoo parlour, spa or massage parlour - Large religious gatherings and places of worship - Libraries and cultural institutions Restaurants and cafes will close, and provide takeaway service only. 10 people can attend funerals, weddings are cancelled for the next five days. No visitors are permitted to your home, unless caring for someone vulnerable or an emergency. No visitors will be allowed in aged care homes, unless exceptional circumstances. No visitors to hospitals and/or disability facilities, unless exceptional circumstances. Elective surgery and procedures for categories 2 and 3 will be suspended from Tuesday, 2 February. Category 1 and urgent category 2 surgery will continue. For a majority of schools in these regions, school was due to start tomorrow. That has now been put on hold and schools will be closed until next week following the lockdown measures. It is, in effect, an extension of the school holidays. All these measures will be reviewed regularly and the Chief Health Officer will continue to monitor the serious situation and provide more ongoing advice. This is an extremely fast-moving situation. I know for many Western Australians this is going to come as a shock. Western Australians have done so well for so long but this week it is absolutely crucial that we stay home, maintain physical distancing and personal hygiene and get tested if you have symptoms. This is a very serious situation and each and every one of us has to do everything we personally can to help stop the spread in the community. We have acted decisively and swiftly given these circumstances. I want to thank everyone in advance for their patience.

11.01.2022 Apologies The CRC is now closed for the day and will be reopen on Monday. Sorry for any inconvenience, if urgent assistance needed please phone Rosi on 0429 204 018. See you on Monday.

07.01.2022 Our response to the COVID-19 pandemic has always been first and foremost about protecting the health and safety of Western Australians. We’ve followed the exper...t health advice, and for the last seven months, our hard border has kept Western Australia safe and strong. Today, in line with the latest advice from the Chief Health Officer, I can announce that WA will soon cautiously transition to a controlled interstate border. I’d like to take a moment of your time to run through what this means. Pending ongoing health advice, this change will take effect at 12:01am on Saturday 14 November. However, we will be closely monitoring the situation over east and if we need to delay this introduction of the controlled border, then we will. Also, I will have no hesitation to reintroduce our hard border in the future if that’s what’s needed to keep us safe. This hasn’t been an easy year for anyone. But for many Western Australians, the hard border has been particularly challenging. I’d like to thank everyone for their understanding and patience over these months particularly those who have been separated from their loved ones by the border. I know how hard it has been my own parents and brother live in New South Wales. It’s been extremely difficult not knowing when I will be able to see them again. Throughout the pandemic, we’ve maintained a cautious and careful approach based on WA’s expert health advice from the Chief Health Officer. That advice has served us well as we have embarked on our own, unique recovery. Today, based on that health advice and the rates of local infection in the eastern states, we are now at the next step of our journey. I want every Western Australian to know that we would not be proceeding down this path unless we had the health advice that it was safe to do so. The time is right, the conditions are right, and I’m confident our controlled border arrangement strikes the right balance. These are cautious, considered and careful steps. The existing hard border exemption system will be removed and replaced with the controlled interstate border regime, established on an updated nationwide health-based threshold that allows for safe travel into Western Australia from interstate with conditions, and subject to trigger points being met. The Chief Health Officer has recommended a 14-day rolling average of less than five community cases per day in each state and territory be required before progressing to the new border controls. This condition is currently being met. Under this system, travel from ‘very low risk’ states and territories will be permitted, with conditions on arrival including declarations, temperature tests and possible COVID-19 testing. These jurisdictions currently include Tasmania, Queensland, South Australia, Australian Capital Territory and Northern Territory because they have had no community cases for more than 28 days. Travel from ‘low risk’ states and territories also permitted, with similar conditions on arrival, in addition to 14 days of self-quarantine and a mandatory Day 11 COVID-19 test. These jurisdictions currently include New South Wales and Victoria because they have less than five community cases per day on a 14-day rolling average. Failure to follow these directions or providing false information will be enforceable by law, with penalties ranging from $1,000 infringements, to up to $50,000 fines for individuals. These are safe, steady and sensible steps. But should the situation change once again, I will not hesitate to return to hard border arrangements if that is what is required to protect the health and safety of Western Australians. In the meantime, we need to continue to take personal responsibility. The virus hasn’t been defeated around the world we must work together to prevent outbreaks and not jeopardise what we’ve achieved so far. The controlled border still includes important and strong protections for our State, but within it we must also maintain our vigilance to keep our State safe and strong. All Western Australians must embrace COVID-safe principles. That means acting responsibly and following the health advice. Thank you again to all Western Australians for the sacrifices you have made this year. We’re the envy of the world for so many reasons. We have a long way to go, and many challenges still to face. But right now, there’s nowhere I’d rather be.
