04.01.2022 ASK THE EXPERT - Comment your questions below Meet Janina Harding, the artistic director of Cairns Indigenous Art Fair! Janina’s cultural heritage is Meriam... Mir (Erub/Mer) of the Eastern Torres Strait and Ku Ku (North East) of Cape York. This week we are focusing on art and artists that are raising awareness for the protection of our Reef. This year's art fair's theme is climate change, highlighting the environment and its preservation from a First Peoples’ point of view. Janina & Cairns Indigenous Art Fair are showcasing the valuable role art has in making social change. So shoot her some questions about art, climate change and how it's affecting our First Nations People.

01.01.2022 The $164 million Smithfield Bypass project in Far North Queensland is officially ahead of schedule to make commuting safer and quicker for locals and tourists. ...It's supported 500 local workers and more than 90 local suppliers so far. We've invested $1.45 billion in more infrastructure projects in the Far North, and we'll continue to deliver infrastructure and create jobs as part of Queensland’s plan for economic recovery. The Smithfield bypass is one of the biggest jobs probably in the district and it has made a lot of employment for people. I think a lot of people are very happy to see it happening. - Bill Mann, civil superintendent #qldjobs
