05.01.2022 Meet the conductor: Gareth Budd ~~~~~~~ I have been the musical director since the band started under the PCCB banner in 2009. In that time I've seen the band grow from humble beginnings and achieve many great milestones. We have developed ourselves through band contests; going from ungraded to a C- grade state, and national, level ensemble. In that time we incorporated marching into our skills and regularly appeared in Christmas pageants and the city Anzac day parade. We hav...e even been in a few studio recording sessions and played as a pit orchestra for musical theatre productions. I am particularly proud of our unique ensemble competition and fund-raising event, '3plus', that promotes small ensemble playing and collaboratively generates funds for all participating south Australian bands. Above all, I strive to generate a culture that is inclusive, collegial, and beneficial for all. We ultimately enjoy making music together and support each other to ensure the band continues to progress for many years to come. If you, or anyone you know, can play a woodwind, brass, or percussion instrument be sure to come down and join us on a Wednesday night. Your first four weeks are free, so why not? ~~~~~~~~
