22.01.2022 Newborn Breathing Patterns Newborns need time to develop mature breathing patterns. This may mean you will notice that your baby will pause for a few seconds between breaths, when sneezing, or while sleeping. As long as your baby is calm and their lips, tongue and mouth are a normal pink colour, there is no reason to be worried about these pauses. You should seek medical advice if:... Your baby is grunting or moaning at the end of each breath Your baby’s nostrils are flaring (to work harder to get oxygen into their lungs) Your baby’s muscles are pulling in on the neck, collarbones or ribs Your baby has difficulty feeding in addition to breathing issues Your baby is lethargic or has a fever in addition to breathing issues If your newborn develops a blue colour in lips, tongue, mouth, finger/toenails or doesn’t breathe for 20 seconds or more, call 000.

06.01.2022 One of the many reasons to choose a Private Practice is... giving birth in a Private Hospital! Private hospitals generally have better facilities, food & you'll be able to stay longer. Currently the aim in WA Public hospitals is to discharge women within 36 hours after their first baby & 24 hours after their second.
