15.01.2022 Being a qualified trainer, I have been lucky enough to be exposed to all training tools. And although I hope I never have to use a prong collar, or an e-collar, they do have a place in our tool kits. However, banning and/or restricting their use is a definite good thing. For everyone to have access to these tools, without any training at all is crazy. People will just do what they feel is necessary to change their dogs behaviour without knowing what they are doing. The results... could be far worse than what we have now. Given the incorrect use, untrained people could actually be making their dogs become reactive. The use of extreme tools can be more detrimental than not using them at all. Without sounding too simple, would you then let people perform their own surgeries on their dogs? I think not. Only a properly trained veterinarian is allowed to do this. So in my opinion, lets keep the bans and regulations in place so that we don't allow untrained people to use these tools unregulated.
