23.01.2022 POLL BAZADAIS: Over the coming weeks I will be posting photos and a little bit of info of our Poll Bazadais sires. This week we have Nioka Brutus (P)... Brutus is a lovely long boy with a beautiful temperament. He was used very lightly last year on our heifers and has progeny just hitting the ground now. Happy with his calves and such small calves (around 25kg) we have put him out with another handful of females. Brutus is another poll bloodline we have been working on over the past few years. He has a good amount of fat cover yet he is a very high meat yielding bull. 20.01.2022 This beautiful little soul is the reason I keep going, the innocent little girl that loves her daddy and mummy and I thank God she doesnt understand the effects of this drought. I dont intend on showing her it either, we can do this. Daddy is trying so hard to hold it together for you my baby girl. There is a future after this drought I just know there is.

15.01.2022 Did you know: The first gene marker for marbling was discovered in 1989 and was available for commercial testing in 2000. Then by 2006 there were 4 markers for ...Marbling, 4 markers for Tenderness and 4 markers for Feed Efficiency. Each marker had 2 stars. Making it a possible total of 8 stars per each gene trait test. The more stars the better. By the end results in 2009 before the shift to MVPs (Molecular Value Predictions) Bazadais were by far the highest on average (of stars) for their Tenderness. Their Marbling was on par to other breeds, and their Feed Efficiency came in third just behind the well known drought breed the Brahman MVPs with 55 gene markers were brought in to individualise the testing for each breed so that it was not breed against breed. It was not uncommon for The Bazadais to get 4 or 5 stars in marbling, there is also one known Bazadais to have gotten 6 stars for marbling. Bazadais Genetics

15.01.2022 POLL BAZADAIS: This week we have Nioka Socrates (P) Socrates has length, great even fat, high IMF, good temperament. In our eyes the perfect bull.... Socrates is out of an Aussie cow. Aussie was a bull we called our IMPACT SIRE in our herd. He had it all, from even fat cover, moderate IMF, tremendous meat yield and temperament. Always throwing above average progeny and continued on doing so as a grand sire and great grand sire. His genetics were extremely strong in all the right places. Socrates dam line is from a well known line of high IMF, fat cover and milk. You are more than welcome to leave your comments about Socrates or share him around.
