02.01.2022 PMA undertook a study on "The side effects and mother or child related physical harm from massage during pregnancy and the postpartum period: An observational study" which was published in the Complementary Therapies in Medicine Journal 42 (2019). We wanted to explore why women thought massage wasn't safe, as this question needed to be answered. The result was there were no adverse events in the study to mother or baby during the study and the outcome was massage by a trained... pregnancy therapist caused no harm. PMA's role is to educate the wider community on the benefits and safety of massage during pregnancy, this is achieved via our training to impart our expertise to our trainees - you! To create a positive conversation around massage throughout pregnancy.
