25.01.2022 We have been very remiss in our providing you with any recent gardener updates! We love our gardeners at the best of times, but we love them all the more with their taking it in their stride, the additional off site gardens recently. As we transition away from our home and base for the past 6 years, we have planted in several gardens in our community to ensure that we continue to provide fresh garden grown produce to our vulnerable community members with as little disruption ...as possible. Not all of our gardeners are pictured here but we will remedy that soon. Thank-you to our magnificent gardeners - you are all amazing! Our current gardeners, in no particular order :) Lisa, Michele, Davina, Robin, Paul, Sally, Peter, Lynne, Sheree, Ione, Aileen, Andrew, Mark, Gwen, Dee, Kylie, Troy, Amanda, Mal and Annie. Gosh, we hope nobody was forgotten! All solid gold <3 See more

19.01.2022 We have had several enquiries and visits from people, who were wondering if the Food Hub has reopened at the farm. The school have requested that it remain closed indefinitely, but if customers would like a food hamper put together for collection at the BHS farm carpark, we are more than happy to do that. We are operating Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and hampers are generally collected after 11.30AM on those days (but before 1PM). If you would like to arrange for a hamper, please contact us via Facebook PM, call/text or email.

13.01.2022 Part of the wonderful donation that we received from Saputo Dairy Australia last week, was a massive block of cheese. We tried cutting the cheese with a knife with no luck, and then Sally and Peter tried to slice it with a length of thin wire. Again, no luck! So, Sally had a brainwave and called Lorenzens Butchery in Upper Burnie to see if they could assist. Success!! Thankyou to Lorenzens Butchery for saving the day! The smaller blocks of cheese have been going into the hampers this week #lorenzensbutcheryburnie #growgathergive #communityhelpingcommunity #saputodairyaustralia #withalittlehelpfromourftiends

03.01.2022 Grow Gather Give set to Grow! After doing great work in cooperation with Burnie High School at the School farm, Grow Gather Give is looking for its own home. Grow Gather Give is a new charity continuing the work started by Produce to the People - growing seasonal produce, and gathering donated produce and food from the community, to share cost-free with vulnerable people in our community.... Michelle Williamson, the Coordinator of GGG, said: "The organisation Produce to the People was deregistered in September 2019 and Grow Gather Give Inc was created in April 2020, with a new board and new ideas and goals around what we do and what we provide. We are wholly volunteer run with 40+ volunteers pre-COVID and currently about 30 active volunteers, mostly gardeners and operations/delivery. We are thrilled to have played such a big role in getting the Burnie High School farm and farm gardens to the vibrant and productive state that it is currently at, working alongside the Burnie High School staff and students to achieve that. With the recent expansion of the Ag Studies program there have been more students working on the school farm which is fantastic to see. We feel this is the right time for us to leave the farm and find a site of our own, where we can expand and do lots of new community projects. Our immediate goal now is to find a secure site that is local to the Burnie, Somerset, Wynyard area, that is easily accessible for our volunteers and the community. We wish to create a large and productive vegetable garden that we can harvest to stock our Harvested and Healthy Community Pantry, which will provide fresh food access for the vulnerable (and others) in our community. If you are able to help us to achieve our goal of a flourishing productive garden managed and maintained by a community of like-minded volunteers, please do not hesitate to contact us via our website (www.growgathergive.org.au) , by email ([email protected]) or by phone 0408 439 145 See more
