25.01.2022 Prompt Footy Tipping - Round 5 review Season 2020 continues to deliver some unexpected results. Lets have a look at how we all faired in Round 5. On Thursday evening Carlton took on the Saints at Marvel Stadium (really, a home ground for both teams). The Saints got going right away while the Blues seemed sluggish. We were divided on this game with 6 of us tipping the winning Saints....Continue reading

25.01.2022 Prompt Footy tipping update While I was away on leave there were two rounds. In round 17, both Ebony and Pat tipped 7, Suzie and Dave tipped 6, Fran, Chris and Neil tipped 5 and Seona and Nathan tipped 3. That saw Ebony join Chris on 92 in pursuit of Suzie, who stayed on top with 94 with Dave in third on 91. Round 18 saw Dave and Pat tip 7, Fran, Chris, Nathan and Neil tip 6 while Ebony, Seona and Suzie tipped just 5.Ebony dropped back to third, on 97, Chris and Dave were tog...Continue reading

Again, congratulations to Chris Smart, who tipped all 9 games of the opening round correctly. Lets all try to do likewise. Neil

23.01.2022 Quick review of our Tipping contest - Round 9 Okay quicker than ever before. After all, Round 10 began last night. Round 9 started with Richmond flogging the Bulldogs on Wednesday evening. Sadly, Chris Smart was late getting his tip in and Ebony, Pat and Neil trusted the Bulldogs to continue the Tigers Premiership hangover. The rest of us tipped the Tigers. Well done.... Thursday showed just how lack lustre the Dees could be. This time it was Port Adelaides turn to humiliate the clueless Melbourne side. Everyone, except Michelle and Neil got this game tipped correctly. As Dave has been heard to say Tip against Clarkson at your peril. That is what all but Dave did on Friday evening. The Hawks were well down at quarter time but put the Blues to the sword from then on. Well done Dave. Saturday opened up with the football lesson handed to the Bombers by the (surely) flag favourites, Brisbane. Nathan tipped the wrong way in supporting his beloved Essendon. That afternoon Adelaides horror 2020 season stayed true to form as the Kangaroos culled the Crows. We all tipped this one, as we should have. Another result we mostly tipped truly was St. Kildas win over the Swans. Michelle has learned that whenever she tips her Saints, they lose. So, her tipping the Swans was a community service to ensure the rest of us were right. Go Saints. Over in the West the Eagles were too strong for the Geelong Cats. It was all Cats to time and then the Eagles outran them. All but Nathan tipped correctly. Sunday brought us all one tip only. The GWS beat the Suns easily, just as we all tipped. Then the Magpies let us all down by getting beaten by the Dockers. Dave was top tipster with 8. Fran , Seona, Suzy and Chris Lethlean all scored 7. Ebony, Pat and Chris Smart got 6 right and Michelle, Nathan and Neil got 5. This means Fran and Suzy are locked together on top of our tipping ladder with 52. Chris Lethlean and Dave hold second place with 51. Chris Smart stays on the podium in third with 50. Then it gets a little more spread out. Pat has 49, Seona has 48, Neil is on 47, Ebony has 46, Michelle is on 42 and Nathan has 40. As I said, Round 10 has already begun. And the second game of that round is being played tonight (Richmond Vs Lions at 7:10pm). Get those tips in and good luck. Neil

23.01.2022 Prompt Footy Tipping - Round 3 review So, what? Round three, is it over or is there a game still to play? Let us assume that round three is, for the time being at least, over and have a look at the games and our tips. The reigning Premiers took on the Hawks at the MCG on Thursday evening. Everyone who knows anything about football all KNEW that Hawthorn, who really struggled in round 2 and were fielding the oldest side in VFL/AFL history, would get thumped by the Tigers. Ther...Continue reading

22.01.2022 2020 Prompt Tipping Round 1 Lets pretend, just for a moment, that the 2020 AFL season is going to continue after the COVID19 situation has cleared up. Who knows, it might just come to pass. On that basis, lets review the opening round. It all got underway on Thursday 19th March at the MCG in front of about Zero screaming fans. Seemed a bit odd, but in these times of social distancing I guess it was what it had to be....Continue reading

21.01.2022 Prompt Footy Tipping - Round 12 in review Phew that was a lot of football in a short time. Three weeks of games every single day. We could barely keep up with the tips. But now we have a couple of days to sit back and reflect on Round 12 of the 2020 season. The Battle of the Bridge is the title of the game between the two Sydney based teams, the Swans and the Giants. This season the game was played in Perth last Thursday evening (Melbourne time). We all KNEW that, on past p...Continue reading

21.01.2022 Prompt Footy Tipping - Round 10 2020 is getting crazier and crazier. It is hard to keep up with where one round finishes, and the next starts. Round 11 began on Saturday but lets look at the wash up of round 10. It all started on Monday last week at the Adelaide Oval. Port Adelaide took on the Western Bulldogs. There is a good reason why Port are on top of the ladder. They took a 21 point win keeping the Bulldogs scoreless in the final quarter. Suzy was too late to get her t...Continue reading

21.01.2022 Prompt Footy Tipping Round 7 2020 To use a phrase that I like to attribute to my brother, the 2020 AFL season is harder to pick than a broken nose. Whether it is the revisions to the format, the interstate relocations or just the vibe there were again no tipsters scoring 9 in round 7. Thursday nights game saw Geelong at home (in Perth) hosting their hub-mates (Collingwood) at Optus Stadium. Collingwood regained Jordan De Goey this round and Geelong were without Mitch Dun...Continue reading

21.01.2022 Second last round of Prompt Footy Tipping in review. Here we go, for the second last time this Season. Yes, the last round of the 18 round 2020 Home and Away Season starts Thursday this week (tomorrow). But we are looking back at Round 17, which concluded on Monday evening and the results werent quite what our tipsters predicted. St Kilda got off to a pretty good start against West Coast, way back on Thursday last week. But the Eagles bounced back, and the Saint missed oppor...Continue reading

20.01.2022 Prompt Footy Tipping - Round 4 review Wow. The AFL season just keeps getting crazier and crazier. And now there is frantic reorganising of the Round 5 fixture going on to accommodate the latest COVID-19 border issues. So, round 4 started with the Bulldogs flying into Sydney to take on the Swans at the SCG on Thursday evening. Only problem was that it looked like the Swans just didnt turn up. Held to just 1 behind in the first quarter (while the Dogs kicked 3 goals 2 behinds)...Continue reading

19.01.2022 Prompt Footy Tipping Round 14 Once again, for reasons that still escape me, the AFL has celebrated a 6-game round by spreading the fewer games over 4 days. Oh well, at least we will get 9 games next round (albeit over 4 days again). It certainly keeps our tipsters on their toes or catches out the unwary, hey Fran. The round got underway on Thursday evening with Essendon traveling to Perth to play against last years Premiers, the West Coast Eagles. West Coast were a differe...Continue reading

15.01.2022 Prompt Footy Tipping - Round 16 in review Round 16 was almost normal, except for having only 8 games and being spread from Saturday to Wednesday evening. Okay not normal at all. But those 8 games gave us some interesting tipping results. Back on Saturday, 5th Sept, the Kangaroos hosted the ladder leaders (Port Adelaide Power) at Metricon. And they got flogged! Aside from an excellent defensive effort in the second quarter (where North Melbourne kept the Power to just 3 behi...Continue reading

14.01.2022 Prompt Footy Tipping - Round 15 2020 Round 15 of the 2020 season had only 6 games and started on Tuesday last week. Lets review the round and our tipping. The first of the two Tuesday games was in Adelaide, where the Hawks hosted the Crows at 5:40pm. Not just the timing was nuts. The previously win-less Crows knocked over the happy team by just under 6 goals. From the outset the Crows dominated play and all but Nathan were stunned. For reasons that are yet to be explained ...Continue reading

14.01.2022 FOOTY TIPPING - We have a winner Round 23. Thats it. All done and dusted for the 2019 Home and Away season. The final 8 is locked in. But, who in their right mind would go into the pre-finals bye with any certainty about who will emerge victorious in 2019? At least we have some certainty, but more of that later....Continue reading

13.01.2022 Prompt Footy Tipping 2019 - Round 21 review Round 21 was notable for disappointing performances. Lots of them. In the snow at Canberra the GWS opened the round by hosting the Hawks for the Friday evening match. It was, literally, snowing during the game and it seems that the Giants were much more intimidated by the weather than the short-sleeved Hawthorn team (and coach). Goalless from half time the Giants fell well short in both the skill and effort departments leaving the w...Continue reading

13.01.2022 Prompt Footy Tipping - Round 20 Round 20 had some surprises. Those surprises meant that, again, we had no tipsters scoring a perfect round. Things got under way on Friday evening when the Hawks visited Marvel Stadium to take on the Kangaroos (with their newly appointed coach). Hawthorn really needed the win lest their last chance of playing finals this year be swept aside. But North Melbourne were determined to spoil the party for Hawthorn and, in spite of a slow start, domin...Continue reading

11.01.2022 Prompt Footy Tipping Round 16 This Football Season is certainly keeping we tipsters on our toes. Games are going every which way with logic defying results. Round 16 should have been straightforward to tip but, No! On Friday evening the Hawks trailed for three and a half quarters, and the Magpies looked good. Then, at the 14-minute mark of the final term the gentlemen in yellow (who we are not to refer to as flogs or maggots) were generous to a young Hawk named Mitch Lewis...Continue reading

11.01.2022 To all our Customers, Business Partners and Friends, With recent lock down restrictions imposed on Victoria, the State border between New South Wales and Victoria has been closed and permits are required to cross between these States. Whilst the transport industry, overall, is not directly impacted by this requirement there are delays crossing the border into New South Wales. The highways and other cross border points (more than 50 in total) between Victoria and New South Wa...les have been reduced to a single lane and speed has dropped from 110kph to a crawl. As you can appreciate there is a very large number of trucks crossing between Victoria and New South Wales every night of the week. The closing of the border has caused, and will continue to cause, significant increases to transit times between Melbourne and New South Wales and Queensland. We anticipate that line haul vehicles from Melbourne depots will arrive in Sydney around mid-day (instead of at dawn) each morning. This delay will flow on to the unloading and subsequent local delivery of freight. Transit times to Brisbane will, understandably, be impacted as a flow on effect. Therefore, we would recommend that everyone allow one extra day for transit times until the border reopens. Stay safe.

10.01.2022 Prompt Footy Tipping - Pastor Sir Doug Nicholls round (Round , 2020) in review Round 13 of the 2020 AFL season just might have proved the superstition about the luck status of its number. Chris Smart was unlucky enough to miss putting in his tips for the first four games. Pats planning for upsets fell in a heap and games went very differently to how many of us thought they would. The lucky round got underway in Darwin on Friday evening. The Carlton Blues took on the Gold C...Continue reading

09.01.2022 Prompt Footy Tipping - Round 6 review It is just as well that I can admit when Im wrong. And, like all of us this round, there was a lot of wrong to admit to. The 2020 AFL season keeps throwing up some unexpected results. Thursday evenings game between Geelong and Brisbane (at the SCG) was the first wrongness for the round. We all tipped Brisbane and to half time were probably still comfortable with that tip. Then the Cats got rolling and held the Lions to just 1 behind in ...Continue reading

07.01.2022 Prompt Footy Tipping Round 12 As it was the first of the 2019 Bye rounds there were only 6 games played in round 12. Easy, I hear tipsters say. Well, it turns out, not so much. The round opened on Friday evening as the injury ravaged Tigers hosted the ladder leading Geelong Cats at the MCG. Early on it looked as if Richmond had the depth to cover their injuries as they held the Cats goalless. Sadly, for the plucky Tigers, after quarter time that all changed as the Cats got ...Continue reading

06.01.2022 Prompt Footy Tipping Round 15 Round 15 was a peculiar one for our tipping competition. For the first time in living memory everyone got the same score. But, WOW, didnt we have some very different ways to arrive at that score? The first game of the round was the Essendon Vs GWS Giants match on Thursday evening. This week we all got our tips in early enough. With the Essendon coach, John Worsfold, under pressure from fans and board members alike the game was very important for...Continue reading

04.01.2022 Prompt Footing Tipping - final round and results The Port Adelaide Power beat Collingwood last night in the last game of the 2020 Home and Away Season. We now know, for certain, the make up of the finals and the winners of our Tipping competition. The final round of this most unusual home and away season got underway last Thursday on the Gold Coast. The Kangaroos got off to a powerful start against the West Coast Eagles, keeping them scoreless in the first quarter. But the Ea...Continue reading

04.01.2022 Prompt Footy tipping - Round 2 in review The resumed 2020 AFL season started with a whimper, not a bang. A lot was expected of both Richmond and Collingwood in the opening clash of round 2. Promoted as a Blockbuster the game failed to live up to the hype. Collingwood started strongly and held a 4-goal lead at quarter time, with Richmond having kicked just 1 behind. Then, after half time, both teams struggled with handling the slippery conditions and seemed to run out of le...Continue reading

04.01.2022 To all our Customers, Business Partners and Friends, Under the Stage 4 restrictions imposed by the State of Victoria, in an effort to reduce the spread of COVID19, many Victorian businesses will be closed or operate in a restricted capacity for the next (at least) 6 weeks. As we understand it, Prompt Distribution will able to continue to serve its Customers and provide its range of 3PL services, albeit with some process and procedure changes in place to protect our Team mem...bers and the wider Public. We will continue to keep all our customers and suppliers across any additional operational changes Prompt Distribution is required to put in place to keep everyone safe. While it will not be business as usual it will be as close to usual as we can make it during this period. Stay safe.

03.01.2022 Prompt Footy Tipping Round 8 review Okay this has to be real quick. The next round starts tomorrow (Wednesday 29th July) and footy is going to be an everyday occurrence for the next three weeks. So, no time for a bitter rant this week. Last Thursday evening Metricon Stadium was treated to a close game between the Gold Coast Suns and the Western bulldogs. While the Suns had more Inside 50 action they couldnt capitalise on it and the Bulldogs recorded their 5th win from th...Continue reading

03.01.2022 Prompt Footy Tipping Round 13 Once again, for reasons that still escape me, the AFL has celebrated a 6-game round by spreading the fewer games over 4 days. It seems all three Bye rounds will be over 4 days. But we had three tipsters with perfect rounds in round 13. Fran, Dave and Neil will all be receiving scratchies for their clever efforts....Continue reading

03.01.2022 In his iconic song "Thats the thing about football" Greg Champion reminds us the Footy is returning, albeit without the crowds for the present. Also returning after the long hiatus is the Prompt Footy Tipping Comp. Those of you who signed up and participated in Round 1 tipping - dont forget to get those tips in before next Thursdays opening game of Round 2.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qeJNFKdQUe8 See more

02.01.2022 Prompt Footy Tipping - Round 11 There were 8 games in round 11. Wow, the numbers really bounce around this year. This round ended last night, on Wednesday 12th August. It seems it all started a long time ago but, it was only Saturday (8th). Port Adelaide took on the Richmond Tigers at Adelaide Oval. Im sure it has been said before, but there is a reason the Power are on the top of the ladder. Richmond just didnt bring their A Game and, despite some inaccuracy in goal kickin...Continue reading

02.01.2022 Prompt Footy Tipping Round 11 2019 After the first two games of Round 11 you could have been forgiven for thinking that this was a new AFL themed round Opposite Round. Where the winning teams lose, and the losing teams win. As opening games of a round of AFL go it certainly took all our tipsters by surprise. Firstly, there was the new coach syndrome in evidence for a second week as North Melbourne toppled Richmond. The Tigers had been third favourite for 2019 Premiershi...Continue reading

01.01.2022 Prompt Footy Tipping-Round 22 in review Round 22. The penultimate round of the 2019 is done and dusted. And it has certainly proved to have been a tough round to tip. It all started on Friday evening, when Melbourne hosted the Sydney Swans. It was a surprisingly even game right until the Umpire bounced the ball to start play. At that moment the whole Sydney team started playing AFL Football. Melbourne not so much. Melbourne lacked effort and skill in disposal. From where I ...Continue reading

01.01.2022 Prompt Footy Tipping - Round 14 in review Round 14 of the 2020 season has been run and won. Round 15 starts tomorrow, Tuesday 1st September, so there is only time for a brief look the weekends games. At Adelaide Oval on Thursday evening the round got underway with Hawthorn hosting Essendon in Adelaide. (2020 is a crazy Home & Away season). After a strong first half the Hawks couldnt sustain their effort and the Bombers (with the returning Joe Danaher in full flight) overran...Continue reading
