19.01.2022 Two common phrases we hear after most life events are look after yourself and call me if you need me? According to Professor Penelope Schofield, Professor of Health Psychology at the Swinburne University of Technology, these common phrases are particularly relevant to gynaecological cancer patients to remind them of the importance of engaging a peer network and practicing self-care during their cancer journey. Hear more from Professor Schofield about ways to improve your quality of life during cancer treatment at the QCGC Research Patient Symposium on Saturday 12 September from 9am to 11am. 02.01.2022 If you missed the @UQgynaecancer Symposium, you may have missed the remarkable results for the first stage of the feMMe trial for women with endometrial cancer.... Professor Obermair presented the results, which showed that 82% of women with endometrial hyperplasia with atypia (a precursor to endometrial cancer) and 52% of women with endometrial cancer responded to the new non-invasive treatment. Importantly, the trial also showed that with weight loss, the new treatment was more successful. The other positive news is that the side effects were few and far between. Unfortunately, the trial did not identify the factors that could predict the response to the new treatment. This requires more research, and that is why Cherish is already helping to fund the next stage of feMMe. Learn more by watching Professor Obermair’s video presentation, from the 1 hr 43-minute mark: https://bit.ly/3bTAlU8 See more
