25.01.2022 A video from todays ride. The weather was fantastic too, but thats what you get in sunny Queensland isnt it. This is what happens when the boss gets time away from work.

25.01.2022 Yes we are open : HOWEVER Limits on public gatherings for coronavirus (COVID-19) ... Public gatherings significantly increase the risk of COVID-19 spreading. On 29 March 2020 the National Cabinet agreed to further limit most indoor and outdoor non-essential gathering to 2 people. Rules on essential gatherings are also in place. In enclosed spaces the 1 person per 4 square metre rule applies. That means that our showroom has the max capacity for one staff member and 2 customers. Though 1 x 1 would be better. If you have someone with you that doesnt need to be in the shop, please ask them to wait in the car. We can speed the book in process by calling first to "book your machine in", then all you need to do is a drop and run. We can also minimise the contact at pickup by having you pay for the job over the phone by credit card prior to pick up - where possible. This is for our safety and yours. Thank You. 23.01.2022 For those of you who dont know me, my name is Ron and I run and own Quick Solve Computers. A computer repair business in Beenleigh Queensland. I have a message that I wanted to get out there and figured the power of social media was the way to go. I am often confronted with customers ringing me for advice related to their internet security. Im not talking about antivirus programs, firewalls or anything like that, Im talking about common sense when on the Internet. What ...to do and what not to do. What is safe and what is unsafe. Facebook is a great medium for sharing information with your friends but there is the problem. People share information that they just absolutely should not be sharing. Cyber criminals will slowly collect information about you like your date of birth your mothers maiden name or your maiden name etc by putting up stuff on Facebook that seems to be harmless for example sake what was the name of your dog and what was your mothers maiden name join the two together and this is the name of your first child. things like that. they seem like a joke or something funny but in the back end of it all all they doing is collecting information from you thats meant to be private like your date of birth or your mothers maiden name these things should never ever be shared on Facebook. These things are often called security questions for example if youre trying to do a password reset one of the things that will often get asked of you is what was the first car that you ever drove or what street did you grow up in or where did your parents first meet. these are the sorts of things the criminals will use to try and reset your passwords and before you know it they are logging into your email and they are getting into your bank. short story here guys is dont ever give personal information away on places like Facebook. So the next time you see a post on Facebook that says things like that, ignore them. dont fill in half bits of information to somebody who is compiling at all and building a profile. Thats my two bobs worth. Stay safe guys and keep your private information exactly that. Private !

09.01.2022 From out of nowhere: Its an all too often, common tale when customers come in and tell us, so, all of a sudden this program appeared out of nowhere. I have no idea where it came from and I didnt want it installed. Where did it come from? Yeh its an annoyance we can all do without. Lets face it, Computers can be confusing at the best of times, without this sort of thing going on as well. ... Hopefully this post should help you guys be more able to recognise where all these extra programs come from. What seems to be an innocent Adobe acrobat reader update, proves to be nothing more than more than you bargained for. Watch out for those extra little ticks, they come pre-selected which means that before you know it youll have two programs being installed instead of one. Hope this little explanation helps. 08.01.2022 Caps Lock - A handy tip for those who don't know. So i had a customer ring me and present me with a tricky question. In short what had happened was that he had accidentally typed out a whole paragraph in a Word document with his caps lock button on. He was just curious if there was a way to simply highlight the paragraph and change it all at once. Luckily there is.... For those who don't know here's a handy tip. First highlight the text in question ( see the picture attached ) THE QUICK BROWN FOX JUMPS OVER THE LAZY DOG. Then hold the shift key and then press f3 ( thats the F3 button not f .3 ) Your text will promptly change. The fan is making a strange noise and the computer is overheating and I dont know why.... A quick inspection revealed the answer.. The whole heatsink and fan assembly was up side down! Watch out Ladies and Gents, there's another low life scum bunch of people going around trying to con people out of God only knows what and they are using the Corona Virus as a way of conning you. Today I got this email pretending to be a legitimate "issue" with my mail server, and if I were to follow the link they provided, they would fix my email issues. Yeh right !!... The link would have taken me to a website located in South Africa and obviously not to my actual web server. I normally laugh when scammers try to con a Computer tech but this one just goes too far. Even when the world is in such a state as it is at the moment with people dying, they still don't give a shit and prey on people who are easily confused by technology. Never Never Never follow links sent to you in emails from people you don't know. Rather go directly to the website and deal with the issues from there. If in doubt, contact your organisation / bank / health insurance / car insurance - what ever the apparent matter is about and deal with them directly. I never think ill of people but these animals don't deserve any sympathy. People like this make me sick !!!
