22.01.2022 Greetings Moo Duk Kwan Members and Heritage Alumni. This past weekend I was invited by Master Steven Voelker of the Heritage Program task force to attend the D...ang Soo Do Championships in Norwich, Connecticut. I continue to have a warm and happy feeling that so many Moo Duk Kwan Alumni could gather in one place and share our unique Heritage that extends back to the roots established by my father Hwang Kee in 1945 when he, with very humble beginnings, started an organization that has made a world wide impact. It was very nice to see many practitioners that I have been honored to be a part of their training history in some capacity over the years. This event represented the 4th event of the first phase of the World Moo Duk Kwan Heritage Membership Program that I, along with a dedicated group, initiated approximately one year ago. With each event I have seen and felt the visible evidence of the value of this Program, and have further resolved to see it through to a final end state of embracing our membership, current and past, and strengthening the foundation of the Moo Duk Kwan for future generations. The Membership will officially open for Alumni and eventually to their own students on November 9, 2019, on the the same day of the Moo Duk Kwan founding in 1945 and on the eve of the 75th anniversary next year. Thank you all for the warmth and kindness that you have shown to me over these events, and the willingness and interest you have shown in this initiative. I look forward to the second phase of membership and shared inclusive events in 2020. I would also like to take this time to recognize the task force members that have worked to shape the program and continue to manage the details of the membership, relationship, and workings of the program benefits. I provide this by way of my official task force appointment below. This recognizes their work and their authority to provide guidance on the World Moo Duk Kwan Heritage program: This letter acknowledges the work of the World Moo Duk Kwan Heritage Membership Program task force, involved from the beginning last September, and continuously working to shape the program plan and to launch the calendar of activities. Without their tireless dedication this would not have been possible. May this letter serve as my official appointment of this group as authorities on the program plan, process, events synchronization, and membership design and implementation. It is my hope that this deliberate process and careful conveyance of the program intent be assisted by their continued dedication, and that they may serve all interested members proceeding forward. Please continue to consult these members on program details. They are Masters: Fred Scott Steve Diaz Andrew Leonard Steven Voelker John Trudgill Frank Tsai Cort Stinehour Erica Tierney Thank you for your dedication to the Moo Duk Kwan. In Moo Duk Kwan, HC Hwang, President, World Moo Duk Kwan

13.01.2022 Kyo Bom Certification - United States Soo Bahk Do National Festival. This is a historic moment for our Art. Pryer to the Korean War, our Founder Hwang Kee was t...he only Sa Bom and instructors were Kyo Sa (usually under the rank of Dan) and Kyo Bom. After the Korean War instructors were Kyo Sa’s (Dan members) and Sa Bom’s The term of Kyo Bom was not used after the war. There are 2 reasons that the term Kyo Bom is reintroduced. 1) To certify Sa Dan’s that choose not to be an instructor yet be certified to teach and promote students at Gup level. 2) Younger practitioners (21 - 24) have a proper title and certification. Giving them a place to be proud of their connection, rank and position. Kyo Bom meets our 5 Moo Do Values (History, tradition, Philosophy, Discipline/ Respect and Technique) and will add value by elevating our Sa Bom Nim’s (full time instructors and studio owners). Kwan Jang Nim H. C. Hwang has decided that there is only 1 Kyo Bom. So NO associate (Red or Blue). TAC asks for everyones support as we role out this program certification. Congratulations to our new and 1st Kyo Bom certified by H. C. Hwang. These 5 practitioners. 05.01.2022 Some times people think that Kung Fu is all about fighting, but Kung Fu translates as Kung (work/effort) and Fu (skill). The words Kung Fu can be used to describe anything that requires hard work, time, effort, patience and determination to develop a high level of skill. The words Kung Fu are often associated with martial arts (Wushu), because Wushu takes time, effort and perseverance to develop a high level of skill, balance, agility, timing, reflexes, strength, speed, power, relaxation and inner peace etc. But the words Kung Fu also apply to anything that requires these attributes including art, yoga, tai chi, dance, sport, calligraphy, music or anything else that requires time, patience, determination, effort, focus and determination to develop a high level of skill and ability.

01.01.2022 2019 marks another Tang Soo Tao milestone of 45 years since our founder, Master Robert Caputo, established his first school in Darwin which was to be known as T...ang Soo Tao Physical Culture and Oriental Studies Society. Although we will all get together next year for the tournament in Geelong to celebrate as a family lets all take a moment to recall just how many thousands of students have benefited by their training over the years and how many more will benefit into the future.
